First four teams revealed for Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

In a backstage segment on NXT this week, we heard two teams announced for the upcoming women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Shotzi Blackheart was being interviewed about her loss from earlier in the night against Candice LeRae. Blackheart says that she won’t whine about her loss but look forward to making history.

She explains that she knows that LeRae and Indi Hartwell will be in the tournament and she needs to have a partner of her own. A partner who she will know has her back and one that she went to war with. Ember Moon then entered the picture. Blackheart and Moon were on the same team at the recent WarGames event together. Moon says she is going to invoke Ember’s Law and the two declare to have their name put on the winner’s trophy.

The pairing of Blackheart and Moon isn’t a total surprise due to their work together before. LeRae and Hartwell were already one of the established teams heading into the tournament.

Later in the night, more announcements were made as the teams of Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro and Toni Storm & Mercedes Martinez were declared. The women’s bracket will begin next week and host a first-round match between these two teams.

The men’s tournament kicked off on tonight’s NXT and that bracket has eight teams for a total of 16-men. The same most likely will occur for the women.
