Following the New Year’s Evil event last week, there is a lot of good things to look forward to. A clear contender for the NXT Women’s Champion has been sent and that woman is Mercedes Martinez. Last week she let the champ Io Shirai know that she has her eyes set on the gold.
Raquel Gonzalez achieved perhaps the biggest win of her career last week as she became the last woman standing in a huge match against her rival Rhea Ripley. This has caused many to think that Ripley will move on to the main roster, however, that thought process has come at multiple moments in the past number of months.
Xia Li has officially finished her transformation with Boa. The woman in charge of the transformation has yet to be revealed. Li has done a complete 180 in her gimmick and big things seem to be on the horizon for her. She defeated the debuting Katrina Cortez (Catalina Garcia) last week. Cortez made one of two debuts in back to back weeks. Valentina Feroz (Rita Reis) debuted the week before against Mercedes Martinez in a losing effort. What will we see next from Li and will Cortez and Feroz continue to be utilized?
A huge announcement was made last week that the women will get their own Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament. This is a huge opportunity for the women to shine and perhaps bring out some performance center talent we haven’t been exposed to. At this time no teams have been announced or a start date. The men’s tournament starts tonight.
The match that has been advertised for tonight is Shotzi Blackheart vs. Candice LeRae. Their long-standing rivalry is continuing as Blackheart picked up a win alongside Kushida last week against LeRae and Johnny Gargano.
As always, feel free to discuss tonight’s show in the comment section below.
