As the Royal Rumble quickly approaches that means one big thing – the road to WrestleMania is here. Last year’s WrestleMania was the first pay-per-view event that was highly affected by the current global pandemic. It is the biggest event of the year and took a big hit on everyone involved.
It was previously reported that the possible location of WrestleMania 37 would be changed. Originally scheduled to be in Hollywood, Calif. the rumor is that it will be held in Florida and possibly in Tampa where WrestleMania 36 was scheduled to occur. In addition, now there is serious talks of pushing back the date as well.
The date for WrestleMania 37 is currently listed as March 28. This is slightly earlier than normal as the normal date for the event is the first Sunday in April but it can vary. According to WrestleVotes who have already mentioned the change of the date is now saying it is looking even more plausible. The date in question may be April 11 or even April 18. The idea behind it is to see if fans can attend.
Fightful Select is another source that is agreeing to the aforementioned date change focusing on April 11. As far as the location, they conclude that local places like Tropicana Field (where RAW and SmackDown currently are) and Amway (where the shows were in Orlando) are not viable options at that point. This is based on other sports being played at those venues. What is open though is Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. where WrestleMania 36 was supposed to be held.
For thoughts of fans being able to attend and for comparison, Raymond James Stadium is the current location for the NFL Super Bowl that is taking place on Feb. 7. The full plans of that quickly approaching event aren’t set in stone either. However, it was reported that an anticipated 20 percent seating capacity with COVID-19 protocols in place was the anticipation. If that is the case then that could be about 16,000 fans as reported by the Tampa Bay Times in December.
WWE has not confirmed a firm location or date for the event at the time of this writing.
