At WrestleMania 37, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair made history as the first-ever African-American women to headline the “Show of Shows”. Emotions were running high as the bell rang, and the superstars got the main event underway.
The match started with both wrestlers feeling each other out. Belair using her power and strength, while Banks used her speed and smarts. The Boss targeted Belair’s braid and used it to counter the EST’s power moves.
Belair caught Banks’ suicide dive attempt and lifted her into a gorilla press before walking up the steps onto the ring apron and throwing the Boss into the ring.
Banks missed a Meteora attempt which allowed Belair to capture her into a lengthy stalling suplex for a near fall. Belair attempted a 450 splash but only met the knees of Banks with a nasty landing.
Banks played the heel throughout, taunting her opponent every chance she got. Belair hit Banks with two big powerbombs, but the Blueprint managed to counter a third into a facebuster. Banks laid in a few kicks before landing a Frogsplash for a two-count. More back-and-forth action followed, which saw Belair land a huge 450 splash, but Banks amazingly kicked out.
Banks recovered and went back for the hair but took an ear-splitting whip to the ribs for her efforts. The EST then grabbed Banks and planted her with the KOD for the historic and emphatic win.
This match was incredible, with a perfect ending that meant a lot to all involved. The dynamics were simple, with Banks the heel and Belair the face, which they both played brilliantly. Belair is victorious in her first-ever singles WrestleMania match and is the NEW SmackDown Women’s Champion.
