Mickie Gives Her First Post-WWE Interview, Talks About Her Release and “Piggie James”

Speaking for the first time on a variety of subjects, Mickie James spoke with the Canadian “Fight Show with Mauro Ranallo” in her first interview since being released by the WWE. Mickie maintains a professional, optimistic stance on the subjects in question, ranging from her release to the controversial “Piggie James” storyline.

In the interview, Mickie states that she doesn’t know the reasoning behind her release, speculating that it could be due to a changing Divas division. She also claims that she is open to returning to the WWE, utilizing the old “never say never” adage and saying that she had a wonderful time when she was there.

On the topic of the “Piggie James” storyline, Mickie acknowledges that the storyline was controversial. She concedes that from some people’s perspective, it could have been seen as promoting a unrealistic model of what American women should look like. She goes on to say,

“I think it was more of a moral story at the end of the day, saying ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ and ‘love yourself’ and ‘be who you are’ because that, at the end of the day, is what is important.”

Mickie also says that it wasn’t an easy story to tell, but she believes she made the most of it.
