Diva-Dirt.com (Diva Dirt) is extremely pleased to announce today the launch of the ‘Diva Dirt Legacy Award’ with multi-time WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus, set to be honored as the first recipient.

The annual ‘Legacy Award’ will honor the career achievements of select talented and exceptional female professional wrestlers.

“This award is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for the years of entertainment that these women have provided fans across the world,” said Diva Dirt’s Editor-in-Chief, Melanie Rob. “Women’s wrestling may be a niche, but these women work just as hard as male wrestlers and the sacrifices they make for our enjoyment, such as injuries, are real. This is our salute to you.”

The first recipient of the ‘Legacy Award’ is a woman who is synonymous with women’s wrestling. A seven-time WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus broke barriers for women in the wrestling industry during her tenure with WWE from 2000 through to 2006. Not relying solely on her obvious beauty, Stratus matched her looks with a strong in-ring repertoire, charming wit and personality, as well as a shrewd business sense. Her countless accomplishments include a record-breaking seven reigns as Women’s Champion, being voted WWE’s ‘Babe of the Year’ by the fans three years in a row, and receiving the highly acclaimed ‘Diva of the Decade’ award. Throughout her career, Stratus participated in numerous high-profile matches and storylines, including a Women’s Championship match as the main-event on Raw, as well as multiple WrestleMania matches.

We are honored to present this award to Trish,” added Rob.

On the award, Trish says, ”I feel very blessed to be recognized by Diva Dirt for my achievements in the WWE. Growing up as a wrestling fan, it was truly a dream come true to end up doing something that I was passionate about for a living. It is a great honour to be recognized by a website that proudly supports women’s wrestling, and highlights the importance of female contributions in a male-dominated industry.”

Coudnt Think of Any Other Diva Than Trish!

When I Started watching Wrestling again back in 05 , I fell in Luv with the WWE Divas and who was the 1st ever Divas that caught my Eye….YuP! Trish Stratus , I remeber the first match I saw was when she was Facing Victoria for the womens championship! Fell In Lov with her ever since….I went back and watch all her old matches and watch how she got to where she is today…Trish Stratus will always be my favorite Diva Of All Time.

P.S Lets keep this topic will postive comments…( Oh gosh I can see it now smh) :(

Trish is THE reason i got into wrestling. My brothers were watching Backlash 2000 (im pretty sure) and it was when Bubba put Trish through the table. I thought she was really hot but when i saw that i was like “damn!”. After that I was hooked, and when Trish retired I kind of fell out of the wrestling loop, and not until i found Diva Dirt did I become interested again. Being a Trish fan from the beginning, never would I have imagined she would become standard for divas to aspire to. Very cool!

  • ryanmvs

Trish is an outstanding women. but in all honesty.. Lita deserves it.

I’m happy Trish will be featured, she really does deserve it.

I started watching wrestling in 2005, when Trish and Christy were feuding. I hated Trish, because she was a heel (she was so damn good as a heel!) and I suppose because she played her character well, thats what made me carry on watching. When she got released I was really unhappy, it was a really dark day in female wrestling for me. I praise Trish for all her hard work, she truley is what a WWE Diva should be!

This is great Trish is one of the reasons i started liking the divas division. There is no other diva that deserve this award.

    All Hail Queen Trish.

  • BillyGP

    Well deserved congrats Trish.

  • litafan2000

Not surprised by this! Congrats to Trish! How many ‘Legacy Awards’ will you all be doing?

  • redsoul

i think it´s overreacting and a lack of standards towards other Divas.we all have our preferences but this Trish-devotion is going a “little” to far.

  • melina prez

    Congrats Trish !!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://vetaj.blogspot.com NurseBetty

I like Trish, but you guys are giving her way too much credit. What has she really done that makes her more worthy of receiving the first award over woman that have made bigger contributions to womens wrestling than her? All she did was show that SOME model can wrestles, but that seems to be the downfall for the WWE with their women.

  • MelinaTheAListDiva

Or, we could give that honor to Divas like, Molly,Jazz,Victoria, and Gail Kim. For carrying Trish Straus through most of her career and trying to make her as impressive as the WWE try to make people believe, even though she botched a lot, and slowed the pace down in the matches she took part of. Because without these women, Trish would have looked as impressive in the ring as Kelly Kelly.

    • http://www.diva-dirt.com Melanie

Hmm, where did we say the award was being given on wrestling ability alone?

“Not relying solely on her obvious beauty, Stratus matched her looks with a strong in-ring repertoire, charming wit and personality, as well as a shrewd business sense.”

  • Taylor

Congratulations to Trish! The award is truly well-deserved, and I honestly can’t think of anyone who deserves it more.

To all who have and who will disagree, what’s done is done. Trish is the recipient of this award, so please don’t start a line of complaints and moans. There’s a limit to expressing your opinions and purely exuding negativity. I hope no one crosses the line. Lastly, if you feel terribly offended because Trish is the first recipient, just don’t comment and don’t spoil for those that are happy for her.

  • redsoul

    i think “strong in-ring repertoire” is a little bias,but ok,lol….
i don´t mean Trish has done nothing for the wrestling business, but before her other should receive this award…

  • http://aksanahq.com Aksana

Nobody is over praising her? It’s the first award, and what better place to start with then Trish? she, argubly the most successful WWE Diva in history. You never know, maybe there’ll be more awards in the future for other huge names like Lita, Victoria and Jazz. For now Trish has been chosen, i’m happy for her.

  • redsoul

Taylor,if there´re people that are happy and agree with this,it´s perfectly natural to have others than disagree.

    • http://www.diva-dirt.com Melanie

Of course there will be contrasting opinions on whether people who win awards are really worthy of them. From our standpoint, there are hundreds of women in the industry that are worthy of such an award and you have to start somewhere. Trish is arguably the most recognised female wrestler of all time and seems a good a starting point as any. Each year will be someone different. Some you may agree with and some you won’t. But the fact this is being done in the first place — any female wrestler being recognised with what we hope will become an annual, prestigious award — is a big step forward for women’s wrestling.

  • Christina

I am happy for Trish and she is one of my all time favorites but I think a few others should have received this award before her…

  • Taylor

I know that. However, there is a limit to disagreeing and just being negative. I haven’t accused anyone of such behavior, but there have been many instances in the past on this site where a Trish-related post or even a Lita-related post turned into an all-out brawl basically. I have no problem with anyone who disagrees though. Like I said, there’s a limit…

  • redsoul

“Trish is arguably the most recognised female wrestler of all time”.

sorry Melanie, don´t take this the wrong way,but that is really overrating Trish.what about Fabulous Moolah?Alundra Blayze?
if this is a random start,i can agree.but if this start from top going down…

  • BillyGP

Trish did help redefine the women division and was a all round performer. Where some divas lacked charisma, skills, ability to get a reaction as a face or heel. Some say Trish in ring ability was not that good well i disagree her in ring ability improved alot and she was a good wrestler or at least a decent enough wrestler that many women even in the business look up to. So why not have her get this award.

I dont remember Trish getting this much ‘heat’ when in the business but now she retired it comes about.

  • redsoul

    there´s a limit to show a disagreement,like there´s a limit to support the agreement. :)

  • http://www.freewebs.com/randomvidsinc joeyesrojo

I find Trish the cause of WWE’s model scouting. One model turned into an okay wrestler and ruined women’s wrestling in the process. She is the sole cause of setting women’s wrestling back a couple decades.

  • BillyGP

@redsoul Trish popularity overcome them. Plus not many remember Madusa/Blaze like they should. So i can agree with Trish being the most recognized female wrestler of all time nothing being overrated. Plus like i said many women in the business and out of the business look up to Trish.
