LPWA Promoter Passes Away

Former LPWA promoter, John Thurston Berg — more commonly known as Tor Berg — has passed away at age 72, reports the Wrestling Observer.

LPWA, which stands for Ladies Professional Wrestling Alliance, was founded in 1989 and was seen as successor to GLOW, but with a focus on serious wrestling.

According to the Observer, Berg passed away on March 4th “due to a ruptured colon from a bowel obstruction that was never treated.”

The company closed its doors in 1992 shortly after holding its first and only pay per view. A 2000 revival never came to fruition.

Notable LPWA talents included Wendi Richter, Ivory and Tori of WWE fame, as well as the likes of Malia Hosaka and Madusa.

On behalf of Diva Dirt, our condolences to Berg’s family and friends.
