Exclusive: Ivelisse Velez Speaks on Tough Enough Exit, Injury, Tension with Christina and More!

In a world exclusive, Diva Dirt has the first interview with Tough Enough contestant, Ivelisse Velez, following her exit from the USA Network show last Monday. The spicy Puerto Rican was cut by ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin following a leg injury, and had a very emotional farewell. We catch up with Ivelisse to find out about her exit from the show, the status of her injury, and the story behind the tension with Christina, as Ivelisse addresses her harsh comments about her fellow contestant.

Ivelisse Eliminated from Tough Enough

Ivelisse also speaks on what it was like being the girl with the most experience, whether she was apprehensive over having to learn the basics again as a six-year pro, her thoughts on her fellow female contestants, Trish, who she thinks will win and if she might have a future in WWE.

She is really hilarious! I fill that she is very genuine and to see her in the WWE one day would be a treat. Also…I hate the “word legit”. -.-

If Ivelisse Velez does get signed by the WWE I could picture her pulling off either a female mask wrestler gimmick (ala Sexy Star) or a wrestling persona version of the Spanish tough chick characters that actress Michelle Rodriguez usual portrays in her movies.

  • SherriShepherdWWE

well, I hope No comment means, that she is in negotiations with WWE and all that, but good interview i liked it :)

  • seasons-of-love

I love her. She’s got a confidence about her that makes me think that she’s going to make sure that she makes a name for herself no matter what. And I don’t think it’s cockiness either. She’s got drive.

Alex…Oh Man Im huge Shelle Rodriguez fan!!! always thought a hot chick like Michelle that could wrestle having that badass tough sexy attitude!!

I like Ivy! I like Christina too…I think after watching Ivory from Tough Enough ten years ago i can honestly say Trish is one useless trainer (on TV) of course we dont see if she actually trains them maybe she does maybe she doesnt..but so far she does nothing for them unlike Ivory who despite hating to have to train kids she would teach the hell out of them!!! She doesnt just verbally break the guys b***s Ivory would get in there and actually show them how to do it

  • seasons-of-love

    Lol, yeah, Ivory is awesome.

I’m about half-way through, and is English seriously not her first language? It just dawned on me when you was struggling to say ‘available’ and she was like, “Hey, I’m Puerto Rican!”. Haha, I didn’t even realise.

Her backstory is pretty incredible too.

After this interview if she was in talks with the WWE, there’s a high chance she won’t be anymore.

  • Rhawk

    “I waz liek, ooH hEELLLlll Noouw!!!” I lol’d x-D

Ivy is like a really hot Beth Phoenix without the scary muscles!!

  • Raekon

I REALLY hope she gets signed by the WWE and if not then at least in TNA.
She is a great girl, had good skills and also a good attitude as a face and as a heel from what I could see so far through her matches in the indies as “Juliet the huntress”. :)
Did I mentioned that she also wrestled males? ^_^
She rocked their world to say the least and her finisher was great!

  • Mike in Like

Honestly when she was first eliminated I was left with such a sour taste in my mouth. But after this interview away from all the cameras and T.V I really like her. She was very raw with her comments and honest – she also talked a lot about professionalism and she definitely had it here. On the show was a different story but I understand why she would be bitter it had to have been hard to have an injury take you out of the show. I’m also glad she’s forgiven Christina to an extent – I hope that diva dirt gets an interview with Christina down the line so we can get her side of the story as well.

  • The Kharmic Heel

    It just dragged.

I think I would get along with her, but she tends to whine too much. I feel like she’s just blaming everything else except herself. She won’t be very strong on the mic if she doesn’t work on her language barrier. I do wish her well though, because she has a passion to succeed and I’m sure she will.

  • Anthony

The way she said ‘no comment on that’ when Melanie asked about her being in talks with WWE definitely sounds like she is. When Melanie asked Rima the same thing Rima flat out said no. Maybe i’m reading into it too much. A new diva signed is never a bad thing though lol

  • Lily

I love Ivelisse. I think she has a bright future in the buisness.

The mask wrestler gimmick would be great for her.

  • mikeparis18

I like Ivey a lot, I hope she gets a developmental deal and has a match with Naomi

  • Lady Sheamus from Tokyo

@Raekon – Much respect to females who can get in the ring and tear it up with men!

Is she really a “spicy Puerto Rican”? Wonder what my flavor is, then. smh

  • adifferentsame

I have a low concentration span and the answers in this interview were tangent heavy. When you’re passionate about something it’s natural that pride often dominates your emotions. The feeling I got from Ivelisse is that she felt she had the most to prove and as such, parts of the interview felt like she was trying to overcompensate. She seems like a thoroughly nice girl and has all the qualities to be big in the WWE, so I don’t think it will be a setback. I do, however, give her major props for retracting her comments towards Christina and admitting bitterness. They’ll need to work together down the line so it’s best if the hatchet is buried.

  • Williambitious

I love the way she talks, lol. The word ‘legit’ pisses me off. I want the WWE to sign her (represent the latinos!!) She has a good future ahead of her, I just know it.
