WWE Superstars Redux (April 26th, 2012): Kelly Kelly Continues Her Superstars Run Against the Queen of Mean, Maxine

Here I join you again for another scintillating match up to take place on Superstars. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Kelly Kelly face off against Brie Bella and Eve Torres; both matches though, giving us different results when it comes to wins and losses. This week, Kelly continues her run on the show by taking on a unique challenger in Maxine. This seems to sort of be the rubber match to see whether Kelly’s past few weeks will provide her with two wins and one loss or two losses and one win, so let’s delve into the action and see who comes out… ahem, “on top”.

All the girls in the club are instructed to say “who” ’cause they know just how it do, and with those historic words out walks Kelly Kelly. Kelly looks sensational as she dons the color of champions (in my own opinion since green is my favorite color). K2 points to the screaming fans as she walks into the squared circle and poses for the crowd. Her music then comes to a stop as the stage ends up actually matching Kelly’s gear to the sound of NXT Queen, Maxine’s theme!

My golden ropes ruler walks out in her stunning fishnet stockings, as she walks down the ramps and Scott Stanford puts her over to no end (and to my approval!). Maxine climbs into the ring as her tune ends and the bell sounds. They lock up and Kelly applies a side headlock. Maxine fights out and is sent off the ropes, where Kelly ducks down and drops Mad Max with a Thesz Press. Nice arm drag by K2, before kicking her in the stomach and going for the handspring splash to no avail as the devilish Diva dodges out of the way.

Maxine slams Kelly’s head into the canvas like the vicious hellcat she is, before locking in a submission hold as Kelly screams in pain. Maxine smiles at the agony on our blond beauty, but Kelly finally starts to fight out. Maxine puts a stop to this pronto and slams K2 down for a near fall. She reverts to a chin lock submission, before transitioning it into a neck twisting maneuver. The crowd gets behind Kelly as Maxine screams at their support.

K2 fights out and levels Maxine with a few punches. She shoves Maxine off the ropes, but Maxine leaps onto Kelly with the Dragon Sleeper! Kelly starts to fade, but she finally fights out and slams Max into the corner. Kelly climbs to the second rope and locks in her hanging legscissors necklock, before slamming Maxine to the canvas and then bashing her skull into the mat. Kelly scouts Maxine and nails a series of clotheslines at the appropriate time. She bashes Maxine’s face into the turnbuckle and then sets up for the stinkface! Kelly proceeds to hit the handspring splash she attempted early on, before nailing the K2 for the win!

Thoughts: A fine match by the two ladies. Much like my problem with most Superstars matches, I wish there was some sort of backstage segment to set up to this happening. I was a little more into it than I am when we see something we’ve seen multiple times already because at least it had that value of being a fresh match, but part of me still wishes there could just be a little more oomph in making these matches on Superstars mean something. I did like Maxine’s dragon sleeper and it was nice to see Kelly switch her game up at the start a bit though. These two could have a great showing if given more chances to work together in the long run.

I didn’t like how Maxine didn’t really get any offense against Kelly.

    • ChrisxLita

Maxine really should get some on her side special with Kelly Kelly’s history or not pulling her own weigh in her sloppy maneuvers. Maxine can really get her moves down already in a quicker paste, in fact she should be having the upper hand.

  • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

Afew sloppy bits but wwe has to let maxine show off more of what she can do,just doing submissions is going to get boring…
LMFAO @ the earning bit striker kept bringing up like is he serious???…Kelly thinks everyone should earn everything?? that’s hilarious for obvious reasons..

    • Choko

Yeah, that’s the funniest thing ever considering how Kelly earns things…

      • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

I’m not touching that one rofl…

        • dunk20

Kelly may be my least fav diva, but she definately earned her spot in the divas division, and she did work hard to be where she is right now. Jealous much no?

      • Valese

@Choko Oh and how do you suppose she earns these “things”?
Your comments are always tawdry and stupid. You should do everyone a favor and reserve your tasteless opinions for those other kinds of pro wrestling discussion boards.

        • ChrisxLita

          @Art & VALESE,
I completely agree with you guys Kelly kelly has come along way from where she started off but Just playing it safe and sticking with the same moves over and over again isn’t entertaining. Plus her look and popularity got her this far. I personality see her character or gimmick as a joke. See her with the “Old School Pin week in and week out she should be sharp to get those moves down without a sloppy roll.

        • http://xlittlemissobsessive.tumblr.com/ KellyKellyAJFan

          @Dunk20, perfectly said <3

  • redsandman99

Eh, it was alright. Wrestling is neither one of their strength so I wasn’t expecting much.

Congrats for Kelly for been trying some new things in the ring, even though she does not perform them perfectly, I give her props for trying to do something!

  • Poison_Ivory

Could Kelly’s elbows BE any sloppier?

  • http://www.youtube.com/rockinred45mvs RR45

It was a pretty good match. I was getting kind of excited after Kelly did an arm drag and had missed the handspring splash cartwheel thing lol, but then at the end she starts hitting all her signature moves…and that stinkface. oh, the stinkface. I’m just glad she didn’t “run” the ropes. At least the crowd was into it and responded well to Kelly’s “COME ON!”s.

I like Maxine’s submissions, but I’d like to see what else she can do. She’s come a long way since NXT (same for Kaitlyn haha). I think Maxine could be a mega-heel if given the time and effort. She is the total package! All she needs to do is brush up her in-ring skills and she’s set.

  • http://ashmultimedia.wordpress.com melon2617

I like the bright colors on K2!

Match was meh. Not really high on either but it was still okay. K2 seems to be commited to improving her moveset, so good on her.

  • eyecon

Maxine is the future top heel of the Divas division. She has come a long way since NXT S3. her work in FCW and NXT is amazing and trust she’ll be a major player real soon

    • http://www.twitter.com/xTeamK2 Blonde Bombshell

      That’s my icon you’re using! :O

  • MRvinaro

to the people who are always saying Kelly’s opponent always carrying the match look at Kelly now, Maxine is just a waste of the time, Kelly did awesome against eve especially last week it was an awesome match and now kelly didn’t get carried by anybody she did awesome even though I’m not a fan I just wish her matches when she was the champion was this long -_-
    Excuse my poor English

    • Choko

Err… really?, neither this match or the match last week were anything special.

      • MRvinaro

well they are the best thing we saw since long time maybe since beth vs tamina !!

        • MomoMufFinSsFTW

Maxine a Waste Of Time?…Have you seen Nxt. She is By Far The Best Diva On Mic And She’s pretty much making herself out to be The Most Dominant Heel In The Division. She Also Has Improved Tremendously in the Ring in What a year and a few months? or 2 years idk. Thats Certainly Says Something when Kelly Has Had To Have 4 to 5 years to atleast be decent in the ring. Don’t Get Me Wrong Kelly Kelly Deserves Her Props And All,But So Does Maxine.Probably Even More Than Kelly…

        • Raekon

He/She obviously meant in the ring when it comes to maxine cause everyone knows she is great in segments and mic work.

As about her time in the WWE, she is in the WWE for 3+ years already and improved less than kelly in the ring.

The main thing that carries her so far is her tons of charisma and mic/segment work and the main reason she is so “refreshing” to us is because she is new on the main roster and a good heel character.

Give it some time and you will see that people will at the end start to find her in ring work boring if she never changes it or gets stucked in the same submissions based moveset she always does and always did in the last 3 years.

  • Jhonmarco

A fine match. Good for Kelly trying new moves, granted they didn’t look too good, trying is a start. I expected a worse match considering wrestling isn’t what either woman here is best at.

I’d like to see Kelly on Superstars more often, she seems to look better here.

    • http://ashmultimedia.wordpress.com melon2617

Perhaps she’s more confident because it’s for the live crowds & online?

You’re right though, she does look better here. Perhaps a few months on Superstars, with some sporadic tag matches on Raw could give K2 that something that gets her to the next level.

  • joshmm3

kelly is unbelievable in the ring….and by that i mean she cannot sell a move to save her life. everytime I watch her I am left dissapointed.

    • joshmm3

and ps kelly Tara and Mickie want their moves back

      • Jhonmarco

P.S:Tara & Mickie, the innovaters of those moves want their moves back.

If you wanna get serious about move stealing. EVERYONE uses other’s moves in wrestling, everyone.

      • http://sickreasonstobebeautiful.tumblr.com/ no rain

wich were the Tara and Mickie moves she did?
it would have fit better a “Torrie and Candice want their moves back”

        • Choko

          err… Lol JHONMARCO

Neither Tara or Mickie ever innovated a move, so burn.

        • Jhonmarco

Learn how to read a sentence. I was clearly stating that the innovaters of those moves want their moves back towards Mickie & Tara. This was obivious since after that I wrote everyone steals moves. Not even somewhat close to a burn. But again I’m the annoying one, yet you reply to me first?

        • TibarnEl

Hmm who did Tara get the Spider’s Web from? I thought that was pretty innovative, but hey, I’m not educated in wrestling history.

        • Jhonmarco

I’m not sure who innovated the move, but I have seen other people use the move. With that said, she executes it wonderfully.

        • Choko

          Here is
JOSHMM3’s comment: and ps kelly Tara and Mickie want their moves back

He never mentioned innovators in the comment, so you’re the one who needs to start learning sentences.

        • Jhonmarco

And? The user made it sound as if Mickie & Tara innovated those moves. You on the other hand insinuated that I thought Mickie & Tara innovated moves? Yeah, enough said.

        • dunk20

          “Here is
JOSHMM3?s comment: and ps kelly Tara and Mickie want their moves back

He never mentioned innovators in the comment, so you’re the one who needs to start learning sentences.

Really? I believe Jhonmarco was just trying to underline the fact that in wrestling there are no owners for moves. Victoria and Mickie are not the first wrestlers to use the moves. He’s just being sarcastic stating that the innovators of that move are the ones who actually want their moves back.

It’s just a matter of comprehension Choco.

        • http://facebook.com/mykael.kennedy mykel1990

          Touché, Dunk20.

      • Raekon

No one is “stealing” anyones moves. -.-

In Wrestling there is a pool of moves everyone is grabbing some for their moveset and run with it.

Some of the moves are done inverted, some straight and some with a twist everyone is giving them to make them look a bit different than the basic one.

Would you say the boxes are stealing moves from each other when there are only as many punches everyone can do too? Common people… -.-

        • norisclouds

          Yea People just talking.

The only way stealing a move is disrespectful is if you use someone’s finisher in a way where it isn’t a finisher. Like using a diving elbow as a transitional move instead of a finisher. That is considered offensive. Even then it’s wrestling. Everyone uses everyone’s moves…are you gonna get on Trish for using the Stratusfaction even though Lita used it against Stephanie in 01? Unless you’re the Lou Thez, Great Muta or Ultimo Dragon people should not complain.

    • http://twitter.com/Passionisma Thaila

I disagree. Selling is one of Kelly’s stronger points. And can we not get into the “move stealing” discussion because everyone “steals” everyone’s moves.

      • ChrisxLita

Completely true everyone steals moves and they look entertaining when they bring them back and make it there own. Specially if they give the moves “Justice” and there are some that don’t really give the Move “Justice” but that’s another story.

Nice match! Maxine looking sexy as hell man! WOW!! =D

Meanwhile she really wore Kelly out I felt bad for her specially after the guillotine choke, Kelly was gasping for air and her face was red…Maxine is the real deal bro!!! Sloppy match yet good! =)

More of Maxine! I honestly wish Maxine would stay on Superstars and NXT..heres why, if she goes to Raw or SD she will just be a 2 min jobber..shes too damn great and sexy to be on TV for only 2 mins!!!

  • Choko

I love how Maxine totally didn’t want to get stinkfaced by Kelly.

  • shameronstar

I’m surprised Kelly was actually strong enough to hold Maxine up for the guillotine choke hold.

    • http://www.twitter.com/xTeamK2 Blonde Bombshell

I know right! I think we’ve never seen Kelly hold/lift another Diva ever before.

  • JJ

Actually not that bad! Kelly looked less robotic than usual and Maxine continues to progress. Nothing amazing, but considering the ladies involved it was much better than it sounded reading the spoilers.

Maxine has a huge upside. She could be a star in the divas division.

  • DJ8946

The Match Was Ok. & What New Move Did Kelly Do?

  • TibarnEl

I like that Kelly’s trying to mix it up, but she’s got some really nice moves in her arsenal, why not replace the headscissors with the tilt-a-whirl DDT instead, and use the Kelly Go Round more often?

  • YouCanLookButYouCan’tTouch

I honestly felt this match was OK.But it’s understandable, after all,it’s their first time facing each other.I was pretty impressed with the submissions and how Kelly escaped out of them.I kinda wish Kelly would add a bit more fight to her punches and elbows because they do look a bit weak.I still love the girl though:)

  • Melina&Mickie4ever!

Am I the only one who thought this match was a bit fun….Yeah Probably.

Kelly did fine. I wish she would get rid of that face smash into the mat it looks so awkward each match she performs it in. I liked Kelly Kelly here you can show she is really coming into her own , hopefully she changes some more of her moves.

    • shameronstar

I think it’s freaking hilarious when she does it because when she screamforking it she looks like a maniac!

      • shameronstar

*I meant scream doing it not screamforking! LOL!

  • Isobel Lynette

The match was good in my opinion. Kelly looked more comfortable and her moves seemed to come together less robotically. Maxine should show us a little more than just mat slams and submissions as well. Overall, good outing for the both of them.

  • MomoMufFinSsFTW

The Match Was Fine a few sloppy spots but oh well i enjoyed it..

  • xJonFer12494x

I “love” how when we get these decent length matches, that in my opinion are pretty decent (of course they arn’t at the level of the “golden” era divas) and yet everyone complains and say they are “OK”. For one, I’d much rather see these matches then have to go back a few months to the unfortunaty, per usual, 30 second rule with the RAW & Smackdown Diva matches. But hey.. maybe thats just me?– I though Kelly actually did solidly selling the moves, especially the dragon sleeper. Maxine did well too, and although both ladies arn’t the most technical, they were able to put on an enjoyable match. A fresh match is always great to see :)

    • http://twitter.com/BroskiRomano Ryan

Superstars is where the good matches are..Raw and Smackdown are usually the 30 sec – 3 min rule
But the Nikki vs Fox match was really good!

Golden Era rocks but its gone and gotta take what u can get now my dude

  • http://facebook.com/mykael.kennedy mykel1990

I’m sorry, but I HATE Maxine’s ring gear.

  • Raekon

It was a ok match for me.

None of both of these girls are strong in their ring work and because of that and the fact they were facing off for the first time, some spots were a bit sloppy and off.

Eitherway it was good for what it was and a bit refreshing seeing kelly trying a few new moves.

  • AJ Glee

I’ve learned to have really low expectations when it comes to Kelly; that way, I won’t be so disappointed.
