Your Two Cents: Who Will Benefit From Changes to Raw & Impact?

“Your Two Cents” is our interactive feature where we gauge the opinions of our Twitter and Facebook followers on different discussions in women’s wrestling.

This week, we’re asking this: With Raw expanding to 3 hours and Impact going live for the summer, who do you think will benefit more: Divas or Knockouts? We’ve read your responses on our social media pages and picked some of the best submissions to highlight here on the website. As always, you can join the debate by leaving your comments!

Our Two Cents

Batting for Team DD this week, it’s Melanie giving us her personal opinion on this week’s topic:

Melanie: I honestly don’t think there’s a clear cut answer to this question. The WWE Divas, on paper, should be the group to most benefit given that Raw will now have an extra hour to work with, but in actuality, I’m not hopeful that WWE will allocate extra time to the Divas. On the other hand, with live television, it’s easy for things to get lost in the shuffle, so that is my fear for the Knockouts – that, like the Divas, they’ll only just get one segment each show for a match with little in the way of storyline. However, the last time Impact Wrestling was live on a weekly basis, they did have quite a bit of focus on the women, so that could be the case again. I’m going to say that the Knockouts will benefit most, but not necessarily because of the time they get. I think the unpredictable nature of live TV will hopefully draw in more viewers, exposing the Knockouts to more people. That is a positive, I say.

Your Two Cents

Brandon Magwood | The Knockouts will benefit more. Not that they are not doing it already. It will make them work harder then they already do, just because the show is live. Hopefully the divas will at least have a whole 5 to 6 minute match.
@BranzTheMan | The Knockouts, like always. Divas need new fresh women who are great in the ring and more tv time, storylines etc. 3 hours are not gonna change anything unless WWE changes. The Knockouts always give us their best each week. Unless there’s a huge change in in the Divas divison, I see nothing happening. The Knockouts will always have a better division.
Everett Will | Knockouts. Three hour specials haven’t benefited the Divas before now, why would a permanent 3 hour slot do so?
@ItsRiskyBitch | I want to say the Divas because they are so underused that more time can only be beneficial. Also the new crop of girls is great!
Josue Guzman | Knockouts. Aside form going live, the other factor playing in the Knockouts favor is the newly hired Brooke Hogan. She hasn’t even started and people, on both sides, are already talking about it which only gives the Knockouts more exposure. Whether it be to see how Brooke manages being in the wrestling business or to see how she fails at it, fans are sure going to tune in to TNA this summer. WWE has yet to prove any interest in their women’s division.
Memo Soto | I’m going to say Divas just because I want to think they are going to get more air time and so, really really hope so.
@TheDemonHeel | I have to say the Divas will benefit more. It can add a extra match for them each week and even a extra backstage scene here.
@WrestlingTimesX | Knockouts, simply because Impact has called on these ladies to main event before, they can do so again.

And now we turn it over to you…

What are your two cents on the debate? With these changes on the horizon, will the Divas or Knockouts benefit more? Tell us in the comments…

The Knockouts Will Benefit More Of Course. They draw in the highest ratings majority of the times on impact with that in mind TNA is sure to add a extra step in delivering some great matches & Segments for the knockouts.

As for the wwe divas we will continue to get the same bullshit we get every week on Raw & SD with just two hours. 30 seconds to 1 minute matches. This extra hour on raw is just another hour to replay the same video packages over and over again. I’d be surprised if the divas did start getting some more time again and some more actually effort. (other than Aj’s storyline) . Then again with no Mickie James or Michelle McCool in wwe anymore its obvious wwe doesnt really care storyline wise about the divas. At least we are getting some great NXT matches tho.

  • shannymac

In theory, the Divas should benefit more, since WWE will be getting one more hour and all TNA is doing is going live. I refuse to count Brooke Hogan as a positive change for the KOs because I am firmly of the opinion that she is useless. Of course, WWE seems to openly take delight in screwing over and disrespecting the Divas, so who knows.

The only Diva I am almost certain will benefit is Eve, since she is clearly their main priority.

  • Mikas

Divas will benefit more. 1 extra hour a week which needs to be filled. By default that means more diva action.

The knockouts however have to deal with Brooke Hogan. You can bet all the focus will be on her, probably worse than when Karen Jarrett was in charge. The knockouts will just be extras in the Brooke Hogan show.

How are you affirming that, if nothing happened yet?

    • WWFoverWWE

1 extra hour on Raw means more filler for OTHER things that aren’t divas. The short diva matches come from management not having any faith in the division at the moment.

      • BAD KHARMA

I was talking about the Brooke Hogan thing!

        • WWFoverWWE

I didn’t reply to you, I replyed to MIKAS.

      • CursedMilkshake

Didn’t the short Divas matches come from the main eventers going on too long during the first promo segment almost every week?

    • Acid Rain

No. Knockouts will benefit because they’ll still have their matches and segments, as for the divas, they may or may not even be featured on television.

RAW went 3 hours before, no increased time for the women. I see the Knockouts benefiting more because of all the publicity they are getting from Brooke. I would be surprised if the Divas got 5 minutes.

    • jcarcano12

Because those where special shows but this is going to be normal shows I think the divas r going to get more time ^,^

  • LadyGoDiva

I don’t know if both TNA or WWE will benefit any changes for the Knockouts and/or the Divas I would like to see how it turn out when TNA goes live first then the WWE. Feels like WWE doesn’t want to change their divas division somehow so I don’t know how this 3-hour raw will benefit anything for the divas but I’ll try to hold out hope.

  • Marshy

Hopefully that we can see two Diva matches instead of one sometimes week after week, that we can see a Diva Championship title or a tag team match or a number one contender match on Raw.

  • No Holds Barred

We’ll have to wait until July 23rd to see!

btw I read on PWInsider that the first hour will be used for video packages, promos etc. with 1 or 2 matches added in. Maybe this means the Divas will get more air-time since less time is taken up with useless stuff

  • No Holds Barred

Anybody remember the Dusty Rhodes RAW where they had a 3 minute Divas battle royal and then Mickie James vs Beth that lasted 4-5 minutes? I’d love for stuff like that to happen every week.

    • Jhonmarco

I agree. Or that commercial free raw where Eve & Maryse had a backstage segment, Gail & Alicia scouting some guys, & a six diva tag match that got around 3 to 4 minutes.

  • number1AngelinaLovefan

The Knockouts will be better off. I mean last time WWE went 3 hours they gave them shit. The only way I see the Divas doing better is if the The stupid ass writers can think of something for KHARMA

  • sanchezdiego96

This could go either way. The argument that it’ll be bad for the divas because of past 3 hour shows makes sense, but then again those are “specials” in which the guys have to get more focus. Maybe with this change being permanent, the Divas will get more time. I think the first weeks will be like the special 3 hour shows, but once the hype goes down and things fall into place, the girls will get more time. With the knockouts I dont see much changing. I think they’ll still get the same amount of time which is fine. Its not in TNA’s best interest to cut their time as ratings have shown in the past. In my eyes the Divas have the most to gain from this and the Knockouts will be just fine.

  • vinnypopper

I think the last time that Raw had two Divas matches is when they had a #1 Contenders Battle Royal ( Which Beth won.) And later that night it was Mickie James vs Beth for the Divas Championship.

    • WWFoverWWE

True, but the following week their was no divas match at all.

    • No Holds Barred

No there was a time after that in 2010 they had Alicia vs Gail and Eve vs Maryse

  • jcarcano12

TNA is going to be same only different more might watch it. I see good for the divas

  • MRvinaro

    Oh Nooo
what’s the point of bringing Melina to a show to play a match when her opponent is horrible
she wouldn’t do the moves that she planned to do against Mickie
since the opponent is the awful unimproving Velvet !!
OMG ! Kelly kelly Is even better than her !!

Feel sorry for the audience and Melina !!

    • number1AngelinaLovefan

      Who is talking about Melina!??

    • numero47

      Wrong post MRvinaro

  • lucky1now

everyone has hopes that the divas will get used better with the extra hour but no one can fully believe it until its actually seen
il just keep myself leveled expect a couple seconds more and thats it

  • vinnypopper

I miss Michelle McCool. I can’t recall McCool being in a singles match that was less than 3 Minutes. Ever since she retired it’s been crap!

  • OvSeven

Knockouts …. we need to LEARN from WWE. 3 hour show doesnt mean they will give divas more air time… sure we are going to see same short matches and spend first 1 hour with promos:D

  • Piggie James

Hopefully the changes will be beneficial to both groups. I think the impetus is really on WWE though, and whether they see fit to give the Divas more time or not.

If Kharma comes back soon, then I think the Divas will be used a fair bit better. With that said I like how recently a few of the Divas (Eve, AJ) have been used in the male storylines, which is a good way to get them over, and will be great for the division as a whole when they return as regular wrestlers (and will hopefully give them more time again).

Impact going live should be beneficial for one reason in my personal opinion. Better performers being pushed! Fact is, there can be no post-production trickery to cover up for sloppy/botchy wrestling. With that in mind, I think TNA will have to put their faith mainly in their best Knockouts (wrestling talent wise) to avoid potential mishaps that can no longer be edited out. This should mean more Mickie James, Tara, Angelina, Winter, and most of all: Sarita! At least that’s my hope.

I think both the Diva and Knockouts divisions are pretty stagnant at the moment, but the Knockouts are probably still used a fair bit better. So I hope the Divas will get the most benefit (although I expect the Knockouts will instead).

  • TheBeautifulPeople.

Divas more so because if Kharma returns they would use the divas more. At the same time I’m kind of scared that since Kharma is bigger than the rest of the divas we will get 1 minute matches.

We all seen the diva matches on a 3 hour RAW and they were either a battle royal that either a popular diva wins and everybody attacks each other.

Hopefully a decade diva/s return(s) like Lita, Trish, or someone else. Hopefully we see more of Psycho AJ from now on & more feuds and diva promos to begin with.

    • OvSeven

People said same thing to Layla … they said when she had returned to WWE, creatives will give more air time for divas…but in fact we still get storyline with no direction and even less than 1 minute triple threat match .
so i doubt kharma’s returns will benefit the divas since rumor say Kharma is already to return but creatives still have no plan for her

      • TheBeautifulPeople.

Yes, I heard that too. I know for sure The Knockouts will benefit more, The Knockout have done a lot more than the WWE Diva’s this past year. I really want this thing with the 1 more hour to contain Mickie James return or that’s if she ever got out of action.

  • No Holds Barred

It will obviously benefit the Divas more – more airtime. Nothing will change with the Knockouts, still will get same amount of airtime, nothing is different except we will really see how the crowd will react without that awful edited crowd noise!

  • Chryst Voegele

    90% Knockout
    10% Divas

  • NicoleC701

Theoretically, the Divas should benefit more since they are adding an extra hour to RAW. This should mean a longer time limit for their matches. However, in the past, when there were 3-hour long RAWs, the Divas still had short matches and the time was filled up with video packages.

TNA going live should benefit everyone in TNA and not just the Knockout.

I hope these changes allow both of the women divisions to grow

  • FrankNFurter

Raw is already a TWO HOUR show and the divas only get 30 sec to 1 min worth of ring time out of a full TWO HOURS. So my calculations tell me with the extra hour, they will get an extra 30 seconds of ring time if even that. I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

    • redsandman99

WWE’s video packages though take so much time out of those two hours…as long as they don’t make more of those during the three hours then hypothetically, wrestling time for everybody should improve.

      • TheBeautifulPeople.

That’s the same thing that happens with Smackdown. I hate when Smackdown has packages from Monday Night Raw and then they have a match. I used to love to watch Smackdown in fact, Smackdown used to be better than Raw in my opinion.
They just really need to change somethings. I was happy when Big Show turned heel ( not diva related ) was anyone else happy about that too. 1 down on my wish list ALOT more to go & hopefully it deals with the diva’s getting more time and feuds. Plus promos.

  • memosoto

Oh my god, big mouth dropping! I was posted in the Diva Dirt post! yeii

  • TheBeautifulPeople.

I totally forgot the fans get to choose the matches hopefully TLC is in there!

    • No Holds Barred

I can bet the votes are rigged.
I mean, Cyber Sunday 2006, somehow Lumberjill was chosen over No DQ.

Also, I agree with your earlier comment, Smackdown was way better than RAW in 2008 – 2010. They had long matches, great matches and feuds.(Michelle vs Victoria, Melina vs Michelle, Mickie vs Nattie vs Beth, I can name so many more!)

But RAW was still pretty decent then as well, I loved it in 2009, those 2 Diva fatal 4 ways, Mickie vs Beth, Kelly Kelly was improving and that’s when I became a fan of her because she really impressed me!

  • bromero329

:D my response was used :d thanks diva dirt

    im @branztheman btw lol
