Today in History: Lita is Pregnant

On this day in history:

June 14th, 2004 | It had been a rough couple of weeks for Lita, and things were about to get a whole lot worse. She had been stalked, kidnapped, and forced into an “agreement” with Kane, and seemed to think that there were some more lasting effects from that. She took a home pregnancy test, and broke the news to Stacy Keibler that she was indeed pregnant. Stacy was ecstatic for her and Matt Hardy, but the look on Lita’s face said it all: this wasn’t Matt’s baby.

What are your memories of this moment? Tell us in the comments!

This storyline was a waste of Lita’s time

    • mpezza

      Didn’t she script it herself?

      • perceval

No. She had some idea for her return, but it wasn’t used.

        • WweLitafan4ever

          what was that idea?

        • perceval

We’ll never know unless Lita tells us, someday. Regarding this, all she’s said is, looking back, she can’t believe she agreed to do it.

Whatever her idea for her return was, it was something, so she wrote, that didn’t involve the Women’s Championship. What actually happened when she returned was she teamed with Trish and was immediately feuding with Molly for the Championship, climaxing at Survivor Series. After that was teaming with Trish in a program with Jericho & Christian after being dumped by a heel Matt Hardy. Then, it was chasing Victoria for the Championship, climaxing at Backlash. THEN, this program started.

So, this was actually her fourth storyline since returning from her neck injury in 2003. That’s why I’ve never understood why people had the perception that this was what she was talking about regarding her return in her book. She’d been back for several months before they started this.

Actually Matt had dumped her immediately following her program with Molly. Then she got into that whole storyline with Eric. Remember the night after Survivor Series Molly had teamed with Eric to take on Matt and Lita. That was the match he pretty much dumped her.

Oh! Totally misunderstood your comment! :) Scratch that.

Oh Lita didn’t say yet?Oh thanks anyways.

I wonder though what Lita would have done instead of the Kane angle.
Imagine they would have put her with a face Edge coming back from a neck injury, that would have been cool to see.

it was a bad storyline but it was entertaining gave her spotlight

    • perceval

She came out of it OK since, at the end of the day, it wound up just being a subplot in the Trish-Lita feud. What was supposed to be this huge Matt vs Kane program ended up leaving them both as supporting players in the big Diva feud, especially Kane. With Matt and Christian, it was ill timed injuries, but it’s safe to say, in May of 2004, whatever the writers had in mind wasn’t for Kane to end up Lita’s Tyson Tomko.

“Don’t tell anyone.” Um, Lita, you just told Stacy that in front of a camera broadcasting live to the world. Silly Lita. :)

I was starting to tune out of WWE by this point. Looking back, I wonder why they put Lita in this storyline. If she had an injury and they wanted to keep her on TV but out of the ring, I’d understand. I’ve never heard anything about her being hurt during this period, though.

  • AdrianRay

This was when I stopped watching up until late 2009.

    • perceval

Should have stuck around a little longer. Yeah, it was a really bad idea, but Trish hijacked the entire angle quickly enough and turned it into something classic.

      • AdrianRay

Oh no, the angle wasn’t at fault! I had an internal debate on whether or not wrestling, as a whole, was worth it. I was on and off at this point, then it faded away COMPLETLY. I returned though because I love it, realization set in. Lol

Not my favourite Lita storyline. I’m surprised she actually agreed to do it.

  • Cheetara86

I remember this angle for the awesomeness that was Heel Trish.

  • WweLitafan4ever

Oh well,at least we got the greatest diva feud out of this angle and a great raw main event with Lita winning the women’s title.

  • StraightEdgeGirl84

I hated the pregnancy part of this storyline it was such a waste. I do have so much respect for Lita being such a team player.
