Reby Sky Gets Hardcore for Extreme Rising Promotion

Reby Sky may have proved just how hardcore she can get by putting former TNA wrestler and current ROH star Homicide through a table with a second rope elbow drop at Saturday’s “Extreme Rising” show in Philadelphia, PA.

The two had had a confrontation at the previous night’s show in Corona, NY. Results say that Reby came out to the ring and cut a promo about the women who had paved the way for her to be there (women like Beulah McGillicutty and Francine). As she was leaving, Homicide made his way to the ring and the two exchanged words. Reby slapped him, which led to him laying her out with an Ace Crusher.

Sky then accompanied boyfriend Matt Hardy to the ring for his main event match with Homicide and Jerry Lynn on the Saturday show.

She got involved in the match when Homicide laid out Hardy with a chair, and went to protect him. Homicide apparently went to hit her with the CopKilla, but she was saved by Jerry Lynn. As Hardy was checking on Reby, he was attacked by Homicide and hit with the CopKilla for the pin.

Post-match, Lynn attacked Homicide and hit him with a cradle piledriver. Hardy and Lynn set up a table and Reby came off the ropes with her “SkyDive” elbow drop to gain a measure of revenge. The three celebrated in the ring to close the show.

In other news, Reby then somehow managed to draw ire from fans on Twitter when she was dubbed the new “Queen of Extreme” by one of the event organizers, “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, with many proclaiming it was because of boyfriend Matt Hardy that she received that title. This led to Hardy himself explaining the moniker and the fair reasoning behind it:

Wanted to comment on something I’ve seen on my timeline. @RebySky hasn’t ever declared herself as the “Queen of Extreme” because she’s with me. The #ExtremeRising group’s office of Cody, Kevin, Steve & Shane Douglas attached that title to her because she is going to serve & be promoted as the promotion’s female centerpiece. The “Queen of Extreme” moniker goes with Reby being the first lady of #ExtremeRising, and is in no way a description of her wrestling style. Much like the “Queen of Extreme” terminology was associated with Francine in the original ECW. Reby’s true character is majorly different from any other female that has ever been associated with an “Extreme” style. In time and as she develops, everyone will see the true amaziness of who @RebySky truly is.

You can already purchase both evening’s events on DVD.

Ugh, a group of 50 year olds copying the ECW legacy. I havent seen their last show yet, but their first show was complete trash, disappointing 2500+ fans who paid good money to be at that show. Half the roster noshowed or was under the influence of something (ok, i’m slightly exaggerating, but you get the point).

At least Shane Douglas makes more money out of this than his previous job at Target.

Its not really original if someone before her has the nickname “Queen of extreme”, i’ve never heard of this show, and i would think that there are alot more females that are more hardcore than reby sky, just saying shes done one hardcore thing and they name her the queen of extreme? thats just stupid

Personally I don’t see anything wrong with them calling her the ‘Queen of Extreme’, given their new promotion is called ‘Extreme Rising’ or whatever, it’s just a marketing thing. In my mind, that title will always go to Francine, so maybe if Francine had a problem with it (that it might somehow affect her bookings/rates) then they shouldn’t use it, but if that isn’t the case, then it’s just a moniker (much like Maria is the ‘First Lady of ROH’ at the moment).

With that said, I’m sick of seeing wrestlers continue to cling to the legacy of ECW. It died a long time ago. People should just let it rest in peace, but obviously for promoters and wrestlers they can turn an easy dollar by continuing to associate themselves with ‘Extreme’ so you can’t exactly blame these people for making a living.

If Reby Sky would have actually have taken a ‘CopKilla’ from Homicide, then she would definitely have deserved her title.

Like to see you do the same. Go on, do it! Man up! ;-)

Im not a professional wrestler. But for professional wrestlers that’s nothing. Hell even Kelly Kelly goes to the top rope

  • redsandman99

It’s just a marketing tool for them. Who honestly cares if she calls herself that? Honestly, people get so damn butthurt about anything Reby that it’s ridiculous.

  • Rhawk

Well if it was Reby or ER’s call to dub her as the ‘New Queen of Extreme’ to get fans to hate her character more, then it has clearly worked. I dont know why people believe that she officially calls herself this, she’s a character at the end of the day and she’s playing her role well.
Although I will say that this promotion screams ECW Reunion and I dont apreciate that. Leave the past in the past, no need to bring it back and tarnish its legacy in the process.

  • MattyM

She could be the Queen of Extreme Rising but not extreme period

  • Jake

People got mad when one of Tiffany’s shoots was called “Queen of Extreme” lol

Why do people care so much about a nickname?

  • ItsRayVolution

She DID cheat on him…that’s not really something that should be remembered :P

  • thestarsabove

I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that people really are so sore over a NAME. A name that she didn’t even dub on herself. No one knows what Reby is truly capable of. So she’s done one “extreme” example – which is more than a “Kelly Kelly” top rope move – considering it was off the top rope, to the outside, through a /table/. It’s so absolutely pathetic how so many people want to insult Reby due to something that is out of her hands.

I agree more than anything that that title belongs to Francine, however, it isn’t like Reby is running around screaming at the top of her lungs that that’s what she is.It was a moniker GIVEN to her. Stop being so butt sore over every single thing.

Also, the Lita comments will forever be dumb as hell to me.

Tiny girl took an extreme chance for a company that’s reviving (why on Earth it is reviving, I don’t know). The FANS THERE clearly had no issue. The promoters of the organization when most of an extreme locker room who would spit on her for even going aong with that have no issue with it. I don’t see why whiny marks do.

    • redsandman99

Because if they don’t have an issue about something they don’t know what to do with themselves. And Reby gets huge hate for like even breathing.

  • astarr

People who get mad over this are the same ones getting mad that Maria is the “First Lady of ROH” or whatever she is called. It’s just a name! It’s a way to get fans pissed off and it obviously works, so the promoters/creators/whoever are doing their jobs right. It’s really not worth getting worked up over, especially when it’s some piss poor promotion trying to revive the ECW legacy.

    Matt, shut up.
