Impact Write-Up (July 26th, 2012): The Man Known for Screwjobs May Have Just Performed Another

Welcome to another edition of your Impact Write-Up. This week’s might suffer a little in enthusiasm because I’ve overslept and am entering Cranky Vince level territory of rage right now, but I’ll try my best to be the perky person some of you love and some of you hate so much. All right, this week we barely had any Claire which upsets me since I find amusement in everything she does. But we did get a match unlike last week, as Tara and Mickie James face off against Gail Kim and Madison Rayne. No sign of the champion again, though, which is rather aggravating, but there’s nothing we can do about it so I guess let’s get to recapping.

Out to the ring we go to the site of Christy Hemme. She announces the following tag team match is scheduled for one fall, and out walks Madison and Gail Kim. We recap Madison’s crush on Earl Hebner, who is forever ruined because when I see him now I think about a certain tweet he sent out last night. A country themed song hits, as Mickie and Tara skip out from the back. Mike Tenay announces that next week will hold a fatal four way between these four to find a top contender for Brooke’s title. (My thoughts on this later.) The bell sounds as Tara and Gail start off in a pretty even battle. Tara hits an arm drag and tags in Mickie, with the two hitting a nice double team snapmare/dropkick. Mickie applies a wristlock, but Gail leaps off the ropes with an armdrag. Mickie holds on to the wristlock though, and then hits a nice Thesz Press. Madison kicks her in the back, allowing Gail to continue dismantling her. Tag into Madison who hits a nice jawbreaker to the knee and an equally nice clothesline.

Madison sends Mickie into the corner, but James moves out of the way and tags in Tara. The veteran goes wild on Madison with clotheslines, punches, and a sidewalk slam! Kim breaks it up and James tags in Tara. A nice double team roll over into a Boston Crab, as Gail leaps off with a dropkick attempt on both… but James and Tara catch her and lock in a move. Madison eventually breaks it up and Mickie rolls her up. Now this ending makes no sense to me, but so many people said Madison lifted her shoulder up and Mickie’s wasn’t… but that doesn’t happen either because the camera man is right on Mickie James shoulder and it clearly is not on the canvas when Earl counts a three. Mickie’s music hits and then stops and Madison’s hits. Apparently they’ve won in some new way that doesn’t require pin, submission, countout, or disqualification so hooray.

Thoughts: The match was good overall. I enjoyed everyone’s work together and thought they all performed well. The ending was a big pot of mess, though. I’m not sure what happened but whatever was supposed to happen didn’t, because it made no sense whatsoever. Mickie blatantly raises her shoulder up in between the count of two and three… in fact the camera is right on the shoulder so we don’t even have to question it. But somehow she loses? I know life isn’t fair, but that doesn’t seem right to me. I also know Earl Hebner is known for screwjobs (and after last night’s tweet, also a different kind of “job”), but poor Mickie had to feel the effects of this. Oh well, it is what it is and next week they’ll face off in a four way to determine a number one contender. I would honestly choose Tara to win because I feel like a match between her and Brooke is the most interesting of the four options since she is the only one who hasn’t legitimately faced her one on one (I don’t count the playful time they were sticking it to referee Madison). I would also go for Mickie James winning, and even Madison… just not Gail. We need to move on to someone new now. I’m sure TNA will magically remember they have tag titles one day and Gail/Madison will go win them to hold for 10 months with maybe one defense if lucky, but the actual title feud has got to be switched up in my opinion.

I liked the match. but the ending was strange =/

For next week, I don’t see Mickie winning.. they’ll probably drop the ‘heel turn’ of her, since Velvet is now gone, and they need babyfaces? I don’t know..

I see Tara winning, or Madison by another help of Earl –‘

  • GailKim95

The only thing about the match i liked was Mickie and Tara’s double team moves but i am looking forward to the match next week. Should be really good

  • perceval

So, we can assume Madison gets the title shot thanks to Hebner?

  • Cherry Baby, Please Come Back!

I honestly think that the ending was a work to build up the storyline between Hebner and Madison.I mean think about it,Mickie had the pin,yet Earl Hebner declares Madison and Gail the winners, most likely because of Madison’s attraction to him.So in my opinion,I think that it was a work to continue to build on the storyline between Madison and Earl Hebner. After seeing what happened at the end of the match,I predict that Earl Hebner is gonna referee next week’s fatal four way number one contender’s match and is going to help Madison win the match and/or declare Madison the winner, despite the fact that someone will get the pin fall win over her, making her the number one contender for the Knockouts title.

“I honestly think that the ending was a work to build up the storyline between Hebner and Madison.”

      :O You don´t say…

  • S1

Earl helping his crush Madison win a match. I guess locking lips with Earl helps you win matches. I would be surprised if Madison doesn’t win the four way next week.

  • jen07201

I really loved seeing Mickie and Tara in a tag team and their double teaming moves were really cool. I think Earl should wear his shirt from house shows ”Damn Right I Did”.

  • FrenchFineFierce

There’s nothing strange !! Mickie’s shoulders were on the floor too and the referee just decided to count Madison’s pinfall. I really think Mickie should turn hell, it’s been such a long time! Her psycho gimmick was her best =)

    • KaitlynLover<3

Well, but the pin fall would only count if Madison was on top of Mickie, and she wasn´t!

      • S1

You don’t always have to be on top to get a pin fall victory. For example, a german suplex with a a bridge

  • Swaggy

Can I just saw that I am officially grossed out by this Earl Hebner storyline after finding out what a hot mess he is on Twitter?

    • Kaledrina

LOL. have you seen the tweet where he jokes about punching his daughter (aka katie kim!!) in the face? o_O

  • MickieJamesluvslave

WOW another week.Another Mickie match. Another J-O-B. Can’t tell you how tired of that I am. And to top it off, no sign at all of a heel turn.

match itself was really good with the 4 best KO’s in action

    • Looking Glass

You really need to learn what a squash match is, given how it lasted six minutes long. It’s definitely not one and given how Mickie has been pushed to extremes throughout her whole career, to see her not be the ‘be all and end all’ of the division makes a pleasant change. She loses a few matches and she’s a jobber? Yeah, sure of course she is /sarcasm.

      • MickieJamesluvslave

You really need to learn to reade. Where did I use the word squash? I didn’t. And when was the last time Mickie had a pin for a win? She is a jobber now and I don’t have to like it.

        • Kaledrina

hopefully they use her ‘jobber status’ to advance this supposed heel turn. have her take the pinfall next week after some more shady shenanigans from madison/earl, making mickie even more frustrated until she finally flips the bitch switch?

    • Looking Glass

You called Mickie a jobber, jobbers get squashed. Mickie didn’t get squashed or job out, she just lost. Get over it.

  • Looking Glass

Urgh people really are so naive, “IT MAKES NO SENSE!” actually, it makes sense of the pointless Madison and Earl storyline, hence why they played the video package before it.

Earl counted regardless of Mickie breaking the pin, to give the win to Madison and Gail, what else is there to explain from it? She’s been using him to get him on side and it’s working….is there anything else that really needs saying?

  • Freaky-Lucha-Dolls

This is obviously part of the storyline between Hebner and Rayne. Whats so confusing people?!

I agree, its getting kinda creepy. I am so uninterested with how everything is unfolding. Why are most of the current storylines in TNA so bland!? Wonder whats with them, lack of motivation perhaps!?

    • Kaledrina

tna suck at multitasking. back when the knockouts ruled the roost, all the other divisions sucked.. then when they put effort into the x-division again, all the other divisions sucked.. it’s like they can’t focus on more than one thing at a time.

      • Freaky-Lucha-Dolls

Makes sense, and its unfortunate because TNA truely does have the better female competitors as far as the big leagues are concerned!

  • SharpshooterWins

    Wasn’t Gail Kim tapping out?

  • Marlon Eric

Why is everyone referencing Earl Hebner’s tweet, like it was on the Channel 10 news or something? What did he say? There was no tweet “the other night” when I looked at it and nothing out of the ordinary. He sounds like a mean, bitter asshole in some of them but nothing I’d attempt to make a fuss about?

    • Kaledrina

it was something about a blow job and how he’ll have it now…? people assume it was a failed direct message attempt. i think it was just him being his crude jokey old self but forgot to @ the person he was replying to..

    • Kaledrina

oh and it was deleted an hour or so after he tweeted it, just in-case you try to look for it again lol =)

      • Marlon Eric

        Oh yah that’s disgusting.

  • DarknessRuler

I think they were trying to go for Madison holding down Mickie’s arms while Madison raised hers so the actual competitor being pinned was Mickie. Because you can see Madison tries to hold down Mickie’s arms.

  • jen07201

I’m looking foward to next week’s match.

  • aldo

The match was great! I LOVE to see Mickie and Tara together :D
Madison is funny as usual, and is nice to Gail without the title.
Looking forward to the 4 way match (:

It’s true that TNA wrestling trusts ex WWE Divas and builds them up further while WWE might have some fat perverts hitting on any Diva, with the exception of AJ Lee.
