Your Two Cents: Favorite Duos

“Your Two Cents” is our interactive feature where we gauge the opinions of our Twitter and Facebook followers on different discussions in women’s wrestling.

This week, we’re asking this: The Beautiful People are living on beyond TNA, so we want to know: who is your favorite duo in women’s wrestling history? We’ve read your responses on our social media pages and picked some of the best submissions to highlight here on the website. As always, you can join the debate by leaving your comments!

Our Two Cents

Batting for Team DD this week, it’s Katelyn giving us her personal opinion on this week’s topic:

Katelyn: My pick would have to go to Trish Stratus and Lita. Although never really an ‘official’ tag team, their chemistry together (and apart) is undeniable. And who didn’t absolutely adore them when they were pitted girls against boys with Chris Jericho and Christian in 2003?

Your Two Cents

Ahl Anthony Aggari | WWE: Brie & Nikki Bella because they work awesome as tag team partners. I also love how they argue with each other. They are the first female twins in WWE. TNA: Amazing Kong and Raisha Saeed. They’re so powerful together. Their gimmick was also interesting.
Dave Muscarella | Sara Del Rey & Courtney Rush. They weren’t together long but for the short time they were, it was MAGIC. Seriously, that team was amazing.
Eric Holt | Although they were enemies for the most part, when Trish Stratus and Lita were working together as a team, they were dominant. You take two of the best divas in history and make them into a team, you get a team that had great chemistry.

Trish and Lita worked well together as a team when they feuded with other teams. I’ll never forget when they feuded with Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson during the WCW/ECW invasion in WWE. Torrie and Stacy may not have been classicly trained wrestlers, but Trish and Lita were still able to put on great matches between the two as a team and in singles competition. My favorite feud they were a part of was when they squared off against Gail Kim and Molly Holly. Lita had just returned from her neck injury to help Trish fight off Molly and Gail. Their match at Unforgiven 2003? Epic! And I absolutely won’t ever forget their battle of the sexes feud with Christian and Chris Jericho. For them to be in a feud and wrestle against two men really shows how great of a team Trish and Lita were.

Francisco Mata | Taylor Wilde and Sarita! Everytime they would come out i would literally jump of happiness, plus they had this high flying style which i absolutely love, not to talk about they were arguably the best knockouts tag team champions.
Jonathan Carmona | LayCool (Layla & Michelle McCool). The entire WWE women’s division was built around them for more than two years. They got lots of mic time, and feuded with just about every diva. Had a Smackdown Main event and WM matches. Ohhh, let’s not forget about NXT and their co-Champion days.
Josue Guzman | Cheerleader Melissa and MsChif. While I loved their feud as single competitors, I found the allegiance between these former rivals to be just as entertaining. Their gimmicks were totally different from one another, there was a lot of bad blood between the two but despite this both women worked well together and put on some of my favorite tag matches on Shimmer. I do, however, wish that they would’ve at least had one tag team reign together!
@MeaganG1990 | Besides the Beautiful People, PMS with Jacqueline and Terri Runnels. Those two were awesome as a team.

And now we turn it over to you…

What are your two cents on the debate? Who is your favorite duo? Tell us in the comments…

    torrie wilson and candice michell

  • JillianHallTNA

    Jillian Hall and Melina!

  • Eve4Life

Where is Kelly Kelly & Eve…I mean they weren’t an official tag team, but they tagged teamed the whole year last year…

  • Eric Gall

The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew – Lacey and Rain were THE tag team in the early days of Shimmer. They managed to be heels in an environment where the smart mark, 24-to-35 male audience would probably be inclined to cheer two attractive women. So what did they do? They stalled. And stalled. And stalled some more. To effectively heel, you need to oppose something the audience wants; the Shimmer crowds wanted action, and they took it away. The swagger and the look added to the whole effect, but the MnHWC had it all.

Honorable Mention – LayCool and the Beautiful People. Similar gimmicks that made women’s wrestling more noticeable.

  • EmyLayPunk

Laycool ! As Jonathan said, the Divas Division was built around these two amazing girls. They were, and they’re still, FLAWLESS !

  • iLUVValets

Naomi and Cameron, those two have so much potential as a duo that I think no one but myself sees

    • AJ Fan

      naomi and cameron is best

      • iLUVValets

        I know right lol

    • http://twitter.com/lostmikeys Kaledrina

i really really hope we get to see them wrestling as a team soon. knowing wwe they’ll likely have one of them turn heel before we ever get to see them wrestle :(

      • iLUVValets

I hope that doesn’ happen, excellent wrestler or not Naomi needs Cameron by her side alot more than the fans think

        • Like Mike

Not that Naomi is uncharacteristic, but the duo somewhat reminds me of why LayCool worked. Michelle was the ring technician and Layla was the mouth piece. Naomi is obviously the ring rat whilst Cameron plays a great talker. I think they complete each other.

  • iLUVValets

And this may be a little off topic buy I like Kelly,Eve,and Alicia as a trio, they were like the Charlie’s Angels/Totally Spies of the divas division imo lol

Kong & Hamada :-) Now that was a tough team!

  • WhalenX12

LayCool, and the Divas Of Doom.

    • iLUVValets

The Divas of Doom had soooooooooooo much potential, I was literally devastated with the way they handled that pairing

  • Future-Knockout/Diva

Beth Phoenix & Melina, Laycool DOD, Gail & Molly, Trish & Lita,

  • joshmm3

Winter and Angelina Love…before everyone disagrees They had a great run until Winter won the title. After that they stalled out. If they could have feuded for the tag titles for a while longer then had velvet feud with Winter for the championship until A-Love sided with Vel-vel and had a BP reunion it would have been epic. However it was not meant to be because Gail Kim came back and all other storylines were forgotten.

  • perceval

Trish & Lita, easily. Name any other women’s team in North America that got the reactions they did on the scale that they did.

  • Crazy_J

I’d have to agree with some people on a few teams. Lita & Trish is a definite. I also really liked when Victoria, Torrie, and Candice were a trio..(I know, this is about duo’s lol) P.M.S. would be another one that stands out. I also really liked Stephanie McMahon & Tori when they were in DX.

  • Johnyfaction3

    Yes! My submission got picked!

  • http://twitter.com/lostmikeys Kaledrina

one team that gets overlooked a lot and i guess it has to do with how they never really were official(?) but roxxi and taylor wilde were pretty awesome as far as i see it. they were that perfect blend of strength and speed =)

  • Eveyy

I would say.. Alicia Fox & Maryse! Whether it was tag or 6 woman tags, they always had charisma and character oozing.. with Maryse’s hand motions and smirks to Alicia Fox’s hip swinging and sassyness, love them!! <3

  • KELLYKELLY27

    Kelly and Tiffany

  • AfroJack

Molly Holly and Gail Kim, a dangerous and highly athletic tag-team!

  • shannymac

    Trisha and Lita, hands down.

  • MattyM

    Vince’s Devils/Ladies in Pink (Candice,Torrie, & Victoria) and Trish & Ashley (Pre-Mickie)

  • Jcott3

TNA’s best duo was The Beautiful People (Velvet and Angelina), hands down. In WWE, it was Lay-Cool, with Molly Holly & Gail Kim a close second.

  • LadyGoDiva

    Vince’s Devils
    LayCool
    TBP
    Trish & Lita
    Trish & Ashley

  • Hands.ofthe.Wicked

I loved so many, hard to pick just one…

Entertainment value – Beautiful People (version 1, just Angelina and Velvet)
    Skill wise – Saritaylor
Most interesting – Kong and Raisha

Overall – Lita and Trish, when paired together they were amazing! .. They were amazing in feuds too. They are hands down the two woman who revolutionized womans wrestling. Its a shame both mainstream wrestling brands dont really invest as much time and interest in the ladys as they did with them, because everyone knows the talent is there.. just not the same opportunities!

That is my opinion anyway :)

  • VelvetLoveFan

    Of TNA: The Beauiful People
    Of WWE: LayCool

  • http://youtube.com/kristalmelinafan kristalmelinafan

LayCool duh!!! Kristal Marshall and Michelle McCool, Maryse and Alicia Fox, PMS (Terri and Jacqueline), and i know this is not a duo but a trio Ladies in Pink (Candice, Torrie, and Victoria).

    • http://youtube.com/kristalmelinafan kristalmelinafan

Totally forgot the original Beautiful People Velvet Sky and Angelina Love with no extras.
