WWE Divas DVD Due for Release in 2013

WWE will release its first Divas DVD in nearly seven years next year, counting down the top 20 Divas of all time in a new release.

WWE’s DVD schedule for 2013 was recently firmed up with a Divas DVD penciled in for September 24th, 2013.

As previously reported, WWE had been toying with the idea of a new Divas DVD; in a survey sent out last month, a top 20 Divas countdown was one of the ideas put to WWE fans.

The release would mark the first for the Divas since 2006’s Divas Do New York which was the last in an annual series of Diva-related home videos chronicling the then-annual overseas photoshoot the Divas would take part in.

The top 20 Divas DVD follows in the footsteps of WWE’s Top 50 Superstars of All Time release which hit stores in 2010. The Fabulous Moolah was the only female star to be included on that countdown, which could possibly be an argument for her inclusion on this new release — after all, she did surpass all of the Divas for a spot on the Top 50 — however, could Moolah really be considered a Diva?

Now the debate begins, over a year in advance, about who should/will take the top spot. (My money’s on a certain Canadian.)

It will come down to Trish & Lita. It always does.

Dont expect Chyna to be on the list either

  • WweLitafan4ever

Only interested if Lita is number 1

  • Lanoom

    1) Trish
    2) Lita

Rest of the top 10 in some order: Beth Phoenix, McCool, Moolah, Layla, Eve, Kelly, Sunny, Melina

    Surprises: Kharma, Molly Holly, Ivory

    Will not be included: Chyna

    • Lanoom

Throw Tara/Victoria and Mickie James into surprises, as well.

    • defineinsanity

I think Moolah should be number one considering she was the first women’s champion, help lifting the ban on women’s wrestling in the square garden, competed in her old age and generally set and example to all the divas.

      • Lanoom

All worthy accolades, but this is WWE and Trish is Trish.

      • perceval

Was Moolah a “Diva,” though? The Diva brand started with Sable, though Sunny, being her contemporary, is usually counted as one (even though she had left before Sable cut the “Diva” promo). So, really, it should be people from since the Attitude Era. Though, I could see a segment on greats from before the Diva Era, like Moolah, Wendi, Elizabeth, Sherri, and Madusa.

Trish & Lita should have the #1 and #2 spots, and anyone who is being honest and objective will agree. Stacy & Torrie will be high up, as they were the two Divas besides Trish & Lita to be featured on the Greatest Superstars of the 21st Century DVD.

Sable, who created the Diva brand, and Hall of Fame member Sunny will be in high spots. Chyna, too, if they can overlook the porn thing.

Melina’s a lock. Mickie & Victoria will be there if being at TNA doesn’t get in the way. Jacqueline should, too, for her accomplishments (and if that recent tweet from JR is any indication, she will). I’d put Jazz, Molly, & Ivory there, as well. Too many Golden Era Divas? Well, there’s a reason it’s called the Golden Era.

From the modern era… Beth, of course. LayCool will be there. Maryse, for her long title reign? Kelly, for being, well, Kelly?

  • wwesvrrocks101

Some names that should be in:
    Mickie James
    Trish Stratus
    Beth Phoenix
    Molly Holly
    Michelle McCool

    Kelly Kelly
    Torrie Wilson

  • Matty

I could see the following making appearances on the DVD, with Trish being #1 Diva, followed closely by Lita in #2.

    Trish Stratus
    Beth Phoenix
    Michelle McCool
    Mickie James
    Molly Holly

  • FoxyKimLover

Top five 1. Moolah 2. Trish 3. lita 4. Mae….in a perfect world of course.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/dsanchez96?feature=mhum sanchezdiego96

Trish is gonna be number one. WWE always promtes her as the best diva of all time so it’s a given. Lita and Moolah are gonna be the competetion for spot 2.
The people I think will be included (no order):
    Michelle McCool (top 5)
    Mickie James
    Beth Phoenix
Kelly Kelly (like it or not, she’s the it girl for WWE)
    Torrie Wilson
    Sensational Sherri
    Miss Elizabeth
    Wendi Richter
I wanna say Alundra Blayze since she’s kinda the reason why the Monday Night Wars started but I dont see her being in it.

  • WWFoverWWE

    Trish will be number one!!!

  • lucky1now

No surprise at who number 1 ips gonna be
I’m just inyerested about bonus features such as matches from the women making the list interviews with the women even the men stating the impact the women made
We have over a year to wait

  • http://cmpunkscrazychick.tumblr.com xoxoRKOxoxo

This DVD will prove that Trish Stratus is over rated uhh she seems to always be Number one and I don’t think she is the top diva of all time there are a lot that should go infront of her Moolah, Blyaze, Ivory, Wendi, Mea, Molly, Lita and others but nope because Trish is Vinces favorite diva ever which sucks for everbody else who is better!!!!

    • perceval

      Haters gotta hate.

Of course, if Lita had been the top woman, you’d be saying “This will prove that Lita is over rated uhh.” If it had been Molly, you’d be saying “This will prove that Molly Holly is over rated uhh.”

  • AfroJack

The Fabulous Moolah wasn’t a Diva, so i don’t think she’ll be on the list!

I hope it will show interviews from some of the Divas, as well as matches!!

Who I want on the list will obviously be different to who will actually be on the list as it is biased… nobody will be happy with the list (because you’re never pleased) I just hope they have Trish, Ivory, Jacqueline, Sable, Torrie, Jazz & Molly Holly on it!!! :)

    • perceval

Yeah, this isn’t a list of the greatest women wrestlers in history, but specifically about the Diva brand, which only dates to the Attitude Era. Given Sunny’s “Original Diva” billing, there can’t be anyone who predated her.

  • ajfan83

What’s the point of doing a DVD like this? If Moolah is on it, she’ll be #1. Trish and Lita will split the next two spots, depending on which side of the bed McMahon gets out of the day he makes up this list. Nah, depending on which one of them makes more appearances for WWE in the next year. So if the top three are set, the rest of the list doesn’t really matter.

    – Melina, Mickie, Victoria, Molly, and Jazz will be at the bottom of the list, or just miss the cut.

    – Chyna will be on it, but placed really low so as not to give her much credit.

    – Madusa, Ricther, Beth, and Mae will be somewhere in the teens.

    – Kelly, Torrie, and Stacy will fit in there somewhere.

    – Sunny, Sable, and Steph will make the top ten, as will McCool, for obvious reasons.

That’s pretty much the whole list, imo. Hopefully the matches will be decent.

    7. Wendi Richter
    8. Mickie James
    9. Sherri Martel
    10. Sable
    11. Melina

  • kreece

Its obvious trish will be number 1. In my eyes it’s deserved because she did so much for the company and yet people bash on, the woman became one of the greatest stars the E could ever have, not to take any credit away from other women though. The top 10 should include trish lita moolah mae Michelle sable chyna mickie and I would like to see Victoria in that, and Kelly will obviously be in it because of popularity. It’s all about who the fans connected with right?

    • kreece

but of some of them are left of because they’ve left on bad terms or are working/ have worked for other companies than that just shows the amount of disrespect towards the person let alone the character

  • jazminewweandtna4life

i cant wait! this better be good

  • StraightEdgeGirl84

I personally don’t think it matters who is number 1. It’s not like oh well this woman is number 1 and she’s so much better than the rest. Personally I would only buy this dvd if we got insightful comments from other wrestlers. Not the oh she’s hot so she should be on the list crap either.

  • SherriShepherdWWE

As long as trish and sable are in it I will be very very happy, but I don’t care who is in it, I am just glad there is a new divas DVD and can’t wait to see what divas they interview and everything, so I am excited

P.s what else would make it good, is if sunny wouldn’t be on it, but I imagine she will be top 5 since they call her the so called Original diva lol

  • queennattie

I’ll just list the divas that I think will make the list in no particular order.

    – Beth Phoenix
    – Lita
    – Trish Stratus
    – The Fabolous Moolah
    – Mae Young
    – Kelly Kelly
    – AJ
    – Eve
    – Stacy Keibler
    – Sable
    – Molly Holly
    – Ivory
    – Jazz
    – Alundra Blayze
    – Bull Nakano
    – Miss Elizabeth
    – Michelle McCool
    – Sunny
    – Melina
    – Sherri Martel

  • AfroJack

Moolah isn’t a Diva why are people putting her on their list 0.0

    • redsandman99

When WWE.com did a list like this they put Moolah on their list at number two. I wouldn’t be surprised if the dvd has her on it.

      • AfroJack

Yeah for some reason WWE call Wendi, Madusa etc. Divas.. but I don’t think we will see any pre-Sable era women!

  • unscripted & flawless

While people complain over who will be #1 and who won’t – I’ll do the logical thing and just be happy as hell that the WWE Divas are actually receiving a COUNTDOWN DVD and not just another “follow them around with cameras around New York while they’re in lingerie” DVD.

    • perceval

Though, I wouldn’t argue against doing the annual bikini videos, too. :)

  • VelvetLoveFan

    1. Trish
    2. Lita
    3. Stephanie McMahon
    4. Victoria
    5. Michelle McCool
    6. Sunny
    7. Mickie
    8. Wendi Witcher
    9. Melina
    10. Beth
    11. Jazz
    12. Candice
    13. Molly Holly
    14. Torrie Wilson
    15. Stacy Kiebler
    16. Kelly Kelly
    17. Natalya
    18. Eve
    19. Layla
    20. Alicia Fox

    Possibly?? Haha

  • SherriShepherdWWE

But listen if wwe doesn’t want this to back fire on them, then the top 20 divas in this DVD should be almost the same as wwe.com top 25 divas list that they did a while ago lol

  • http://ashmultimedia.wordpress.com melon2617

    Can’t wait!

Hmmm…the list will likely be (in order):

    1. Trish
    2. Moolah
    3. Lita
    4. Michelle McCool
    5. Miss Elizabeth
    6. Sable
    7. Sunny

    16. Candice Michelle
    17. Wendi Richter
    18. Vickie Guerrero
    19. Layla
    20. Eve Torres

That’s not necessarily my list, but I can see that being WWE’s list.

My personal list would be more like:

    1. Trish Stratus
    2. Moolah
    3. Lita
    4. Sable
    5. Sunny
    6. Miss Elizabeth
    7. Alundra Blayze
    8. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley
    9. Stacy Keibler
    10. Mickie James

    14. Melina
    15. Michelle McCool
    16. Maryse
    17. The Bella Twins
    18. Eve Torres
    19. Torrie Wilson
    20. Victoria

  • VarsityBaseDude

    My list:
    1. Michelle McCool
    2. Trish Stratus
    3. Moolah
    4. Lita
    5. Sensational Sherri
    6. Sable
    7. Sunny
    8. Miss Elizabeth
    9. Alundra Blayze
    10. Stephanie McMahon
    11. Mickie James

    16. Candice Michelle
    17. Beth Phoenix
    18. Maryse
    19. AJ
    20. Eve Torres

  • GrrMonster

Why are people putting Michelle Mccool in the top 10, she wasn’t all that great.

    • http://ashmultimedia.wordpress.com melon2617

I personally wouldn’t rank her that high, but WWE will.

She does have to be on the list, as she did make an impact and made history. Like it or not, her accolades have to be recognized.

If WWE ranks them by their impact on the company, then Trish, Michelle, Candice, Layla, Eve Torres, Maryse, Moolah, Jacqueline and Jazz will need to be on the list as they all made history:

Trish – 7 reigns as champion, only wrestler in WWE history to win a title and retain said title at the same PPV a year later with no loss in between.
Moolah – longest Women’s title reign
Candice – first DS participant to win a title
Layla – first DS winner to win a title, last recognized Women’s Champ
Michelle – Unified the Divas title, first woman to hold both belts
Eve – First DS winner to win the Divas title, likely will have had the most Divas title reigns by the time the DVD comes out
Jazz – only African American woman to retain the Women’s title @ Wrestlemania
Jacqueline – First African American Women’s Champion
Maryse – longest Divas title reign.

      • GrrMonster

Yes, she made history, but i wouldn’t consider it a impact, she rarely got cheers or heat when those were achieve. Isn’t much of a story in her title reigns besides the fact that she was push to the moon, was always in the spotlight, was always put over in her matches, beside the fact she doesn’t get a reaction.

Candice Michelle for an example, I wasn’t to happy that she won the women title when she did, but at least there is a story behind it and some impact. She was a diva search girl, who wanted to be seen more as a wrestler, and not as a diva search reject. Yes, Beth and Melina had to job to her, when they had matches with her, but they wasn’t made out to be completely weak in the match.

        • perceval

On the other hand, when was the last time the Divas mattered? During LayCool’s run. It got to a point to where they were bigger than the Divas Championship. Eve was Champion, and no one noticed because LayCool were busy with other things than her. They didn’t hold the title, they weren’t competing for it, and they still got the PPV slots instead of Eve.

    • VarsityBaseDude

Michelle McCool is the greatest Diva cause she had the most wins and the most story line progression. Trish comes in a close second.

      • perceval

Don’t go overboard. She’s the top Diva of the PG Era, a time when the Diva brand has mattered the least since it’s conception in 1999.
