November 22nd, 2001 | Happy Thanksgiving! Today in history, in the spirit of the holiday, Trish Stratus defended her newly-won Women’s Title against Stacy Keibler in a Gravy Bowl match. Alongside the “ring” was a spread of traditional Thanksgiving foods, and the Divas had a food fight before the match made its way into the tub of gravy. After surviving a few head dunks into the gravy, Trish dominated the rest of the match, and she soon latched a submission onto Stacy, forcing her to tap out. Trish remained the Women’s Champion, though a bit soaked in gravy.

I remember this fondly Hahahaha in fact for some reason it has always been a favourite of mine, for sheer comedy value… I just love the food fight at the begining & the way Stacy laughs after throwing the rice at Trish!!! =D

Stacy got a bigger pop than trish lol….i always laugh because of when stacy & trish didn’t know what to do so trish slapped stacy plus that submission shouldn’t have happened lol….

I liked this Gravy Bowl match, but I prefer their mud match more.

These degrading gimmick matches made up at least 25% of the “golden era” of womens wrestling. Just saying.

I was happy to see these end. I always found them to be completely ridiculous even when I was a kid.

i didn’t mind considering the other 75% of the time was devoted to real, hard-hitting feuds and storylines and quality matches.. almost every active diva on the roster was involved in either a tag team, stable or had an important managerial role.

and even when we did get the dumbo ridiculous gravy/mud/evening gown/blahblahblah matches.. at least they served a purpose in fueling a feud? half the decent matches of today’s “era” (beth vs natalya, for example) don’t seem to serve a purpose at all or even contribute any form of value to the division and end up just being throw-aways. which is a darn shame.

      You’re annoying. Just saying

Yet you read all my comments. Which makes you a loser. Just saying.

    I liked this :P
Always fun to see these kinds of matches specially with Trish n Stacy. The food fight, the wet wrestling lol
I think it’s feminists hate on these matches. It’s cool it’s 2012, plus these matches don’t happen anymore haha. But fun to love them specially how Trish Torrie and a many others involved in bra n panties matches, mud matches, and others all put on solid hard hitting matches!

Two of the most popular women in WWE history – both blond, both beautiful, but totally different in terms of attitude to the business. Trish worked hard to learn how to wrestle and earned respect from fans and her peers, while Stacy was content with being just a piece of eye candy and never thought of wrestling as anything but a springboard to becoming an actress. Trish is what WWE wants their Divas to be, Stacy is what many of them have turned out to be.

Not precisely since Stacy actually HAS a career outside of WWE unlike most of WWE’s has-beens. Stacy was never really meant to be a wrestler; even when she was in WCW, she never really wrestled, but she served her purpose. Even when she was forced to wrestle, she could wrestle circles around most of the divas that have ran ramped through this PG Era (i.e. Kelly Kelly, The Bellas, Maryse, Rosa Mendes, etc.).

I know I’m a HUGE Nikki & Brie fan, but I do believe they had more talent than you’re giving them credit for… I love Stacy, but they could outwrestle her! :)

Well Stacy was actually in the business longer than Trish and they both left around the same time so I don’t see why Stacy is the only one who gets bashed for “using” wrestling. Trish might have been the better performer for the few years she actually wrestled, but she has done plenty of reality shows and minor acting roles since leaving, just like Stacy. And for all the hype WWE gives Trish, Stacy’s probably more famous, and has been since Dancing with the Stars. That’s all I’ll say about this.

This match was just a mess. Literally.

Still longer than most of today’s Women’s matches.
