Who is she?
Let’s be honest, you already know who Reby Sky is, but perhaps not for the reasons you should. You may know Reby Sky as the Giants Girl, or as the girlfriend of former WWE star Matt Hardy, or perhaps even for her gossip-worthy Internet war of words with a WWE Hall of Famer earlier this year. But it’s time to get to know Reby Sky, the wrestler, because despite preconceived notions about her being a “model who can’t wrestle”, she’s proving people wrong.
Her story so far…
Wrestling fan Reby didn’t have the most conventional start in the sport. A striking model with exotic looks who had posed for Playboy, it would have been easy to dismiss Reby as just another pretty face. She grew popularity as a superfan of the New York Giants, and became known as the Giants Girl. Wrestling had always been a passion, though, and Reby jumped at the opportunity to co-host New York-based wrestling radio show ‘Busted Open’ for Sirius XM where she could share her passion for and knowledge of wrestling with a like-minded audience.
Soon the offers came flooding in and Reby landed a television role with Lucha Libre USA as a backstage correspondent, going by real name Rebecca Reyes. From there, she transitioned to in-ring athlete competing in her first match at a Lucha Libre USA taping and picking up a big victory. Since that time, Reby has continued to ply her craft with the help of veteran wrestler boyfriend Hardy, and has started competing on independent shows around the country.
Earlier this year, Reby joined SHINE Wrestling and faced her biggest test yet. It was time to show what she could do on a grander scale. With SHINE on Internet pay per view and many top women wrestlers forming the roster, Reby surprised many with her heart, resiliency and skill in the ring. Perhaps her biggest turning point, a hard fought match with Jessicka Havok at SHINE 2 in August that proved Reby isn’t just another pretty face, but a fighter.
Why we chose her:
Controversial as she may be, we love an underdog. Reby Sky is proving people wrong with her performances in the ring in recent months. She still has a long way to go, and she herself admits that, but her progression thus far and her drive for the sport is commendable. Reby’s covergirl good looks may be a source of contention for fans who wish to see her as a ‘model’, but in the business, that marketability will only work in her favor. Reby Sky, the wrestler, has arrived and we look forward to watching her continue to grow.
