Today in History: Jacqueline vs. Trish Stratus in a Strap Match

On this day in history:

January 15th, 2001 | Trish Stratus probably wasn’t too excited about facing the WWE’s toughest Diva Jacqueline in a Strap match, so she was likely grateful when Kurt Angle appeared at ringside and pulled her out of the ring. Though her getaway earned her a pretty humiliating pantsing and beating (not to mention a DQ loss), at least she was able to get away in one piece.

What are your memories of this moment? Tell us in the comments!

Man I want a piece of this Trish Dat Ass that thong! Haha
Trish for a rookie got her ass kicked a lot and she herself wasn’t bad in the rig at all
Saw her match from Smackdown 2000 vs Molly holly and Trish was excellent!!

I loved that match. It was short, but sweet. Molly debut her Molly Go Round there.

      • Ryan

Yeap!! I was possibly 10 or 9 at the time idk but I was like Molly is awesome!! I haven’t seen that match since then!! Just saw it few days ago Molly rocks and Trish is also awesome! :P

  • She’sGotLegs!

I couldn’t stop laughing at King’s overly sexual appetite for this match. Jackie literally handed it to Trish in this match! She whooped her ass (literally!)

    • Ryan

I know most here dislike King but man hahahaha ha I used to love his commentary sexually harassing the hot divas hahahaha!! And also verbally burying Mae Young and Moolah lmfao along with Ivory!
Puppies! And the occasional GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! At the sight of thongs! Lol so awesome… Ahh times have changed

I as well enjoyed his commentary. It’s pretty sad how his commentary today is pretty much watered down since WWE’s in this PG era. I don’t really get why people on here don’t really like him tbh. I actually found his commentary back in the day entertaining. Him an JR made a great commentary team. Him and Cole? Not so much…

        • redsandman99

Him and Cole honestly don’t mesh. I don’t like either of them on commentary together. Lawler works best with JR and Cole works best with JBL.

        • Ryan

Ya the thing is that well King is (was) a boss now u have that sorry wuss Michael Cole taking charge… Smh..
King and JR good ole friends
I dislike cole specially on NXT with the rookie divas what a p*$$y he is..
Great commentator though when it comes to play by play. And liked him when JBL used to verbally destroy him hahaha I miss that

And I think the ppl who dislike King are idk feminists or some kind of weird mindset because King is funny and his reactions are just that! KING! Lol like a Boss!
I mean who seriously doesn’t enjoy THIS? Trish getting spanked and stripped haha

    • Future-Knockout/Diva

JR & Jerry are the kings of commentary, theres no team quite like them.
Michael cole on the other hand despite his over 16 year career in the WWE i honestly thought his best work was in the WWF’s attitude era, but when the ruthless aggression era came along he had to go with the flow i suppose, the thing i most hated about cole was his commentary during the WWE NXT’s Diva season he buried the show so much it made it impossible for me to watch it without being constantly annoyed by it, i’d perfer him as a face than a heel its MUCH BETTER this way.

LMAO King’s commentary. I remember when Terri won the Hardcore title and then lost it, King’s commentary was the highlight (YouTube it) He starts screaming WAHOO when Terri’s pants are showing

  • flash1086

Its funny how Trish was afraid of Jacqueline here and a year later, she would beat Jacqueline in one-on-one competition.

  • MattyM

Trish in a thong <3 anyway i never liked Jackie she way too stiff, way too often.

  • fahkyooh

I respect Jacqueline as an in-ring competitor but I don’t like how rough she is in the ring. She was wayyyyy too rough with Trish, all the time, like she was really trying to hurt her or something. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she was, Trish was such a little rookie “model” here, she probably wasn’t very respected backstage.

  • Starstruck

    I looooooove Jacqueline.

The only times Jerry ACTUALLY pissed me off me off was when he used to draw attention to the “We Want Puppies” chant. Ugh. So disrespectful.

Trish, Trish, Trish. She had it from the jump. She took solid bumps and sold her ass off! She was something special.

I don’t think Jackie was so stiff tbh, just the right amount of agreassiveness that made her little self be presented as a person you have to respect.
