TNA Suspends Online Gut Check Challenge

TNA’s online fan-voted Gut Check Challenge has been suspended.

The tournament allowed fans to vote for their favorite wrestlers who had previously taken part in unsuccessful Gut Check tryouts. Recently, rules were slightly altered and it was announced that the top three wrestlers voted for in each of the sixteen brackets would advance to the next stage, with every I.P address allowed one vote in each bracket.

However, PWInsider reports that an error occurred which meant that some people could vote for any wrestler as many times as they wanted, drastically altering the outcome of the polls.

Independent stars such as Athena and LuFisto were just two of the seventeen women in contention to receive a live Gut Check tryout.

The voting discrepancies resulted in Athena tweeting: “So tna emailed everyone this am and said they’re not going to fix the multi vote-result I offcially don’t give 2 s**ts about this bs contest (sic)”

Last night, TNA issued an official statement on the controversial flaws in the voting system:

In January, we launched the Gut Check Challenge as an online competition to give many independent wrestling stars a chance to showcase their talents and potentially earn a spot on the IMPACT WRESTLING roster.

However, due to a number of issues with the voting – and in fairness to all the competitors – we have decided to suspend the Gut Check Challenge.

We will be re-launching the contest in the near future with a new voting system that will eliminate the voting issues. Stay tuned to our website for updates – and thank you for your continued support of TNA and IMPACT WRESTLING![/box]

Thoughts: What was once was a neat initiative has turned into a technology nightmare for TNA. After a series of deadline and rules changes, it seemed like things were getting back on track, but alas, there is yet another setback. Let’s hope the voting can resume soon because there is a lot of female independent talent that is deserving of TV time, and we definitely want to see new Knockouts!

To be honest they needed to do this. I know they had techincal issues and all, but they made the contest unvalid by making the voting unlimited, that doesnt seem far on the talent involved in gut check or the fans.

Hopefully they can fix this, but if Athena doesn’t care about it and LuFisto doesn’t bother campaigning for her spot in the future, then I dont really care for this contest. Hopefully they can sort their act out though in the future.

Wow TNA, get it together lol

I’m cheering for Tina San Antonio. She looked so beautiful on her profile picture. She was 3rd top voted and now that the poll got hacked, she ended up 5th with 500+ votes while first one had 20 000+ votes -.-

how about this put your crap roster vs Indy wrestlers men and women and let the vote Via Twitter or facebook after the match! it really that damn easy! and for fuck sake bring back Cheerleader Melissa and Mercedes Martinez!!! Real Talk!

A mess. I would expect nothing less from TNA though.

I guess their own rig got overwhelmed by the peoples spamming. :p

This is a bad sign, Tna doesn’t seem to be organize at all with this contest, and that a bad sign. At first, the rules had clearly stated each vote will only count one person (each personal computer), and than they said that they wouldn’t change the vote, and than people started cheating. I just have a feeling that the gutcheck is a huge scam.

I would really love if most of those female wrestlers would get a chance to shine on mainstream wrestling, espically lufisto, athena and others. Damn you, wwe.

People were also cheating before TNA changed the rules on the voting. You could just delete the cookie and vote again.

      • GrrMonster

but it said that they would only count one vote each per pc, they were going to fix the vote, but then they sent a message saying they wouldn’t.

This idea was a mess from the start, and it shows that TNA desperately needs new blood in their management.

They should just make a preselection of 4 men and 4 women and then let the fans vote for it. Or link it to a SMS service, that way they at least make some money out of it, and it keeps the trolls out. Naturally that introduces a whole new problem (sms vote bombs for people who can afford it), but at least its somewhat manageble.

This brings back memories to TNA’s ranking system that Desmond Wolf won, which TNA didnt like so they just got rid of that ranking system.

TNA never can seem to get it together.

Eh if Athena is over it, so am I.
