WWE.com Looks at the Evolution of Trish Stratus

Soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus is under the spotlight over at WWE.com, with WWE Classics looking at the evolution of the Diva of the Decade.

The article looks at the seven-time Women’s Champion’s most memorable moments including the formation of T&A, her first reign as Women’s Champion, her relationship with Christian and, perhaps the most sentimental storyline to her fans, her captivating feud with Mickie James.

Trish will become the youngest ever inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6th, and most speculation has either Lita or Fit Finlay inducting her.

What is your all-time most Stratusfying Trish moment?

    WOOT WOOT GO Trish

  • http://youtube.com/plasticangelx PlasticAngelx

Cant wait for her induction <3 Just imagine if they booked AJ vs Trish. This way, Trish would be able to feud with all the psycho divas in WWE. (Victoria & Mickie)

  • Lita-Sault-666

I’d love for Lita to induct her but for Fit to be able to say a few words also! :).

    • Timalee

I would cry if WWE planned to have Ivory, Chyna, Lita, Molly, Jazz, Victoria, Gail, Torrie, Mickie, Candice, Ashley, and all the other WWE divas that have worked with Trish….or Maybe Stephanie McMahon will induct her????

      • BillyGP

Isn’t Dixie keeping TNA talents away from WWE during that weekend since they are running shows in NY/NJ

        • Timalee

I don’t think she should. It would be wrong for her to do that knowing that a lot of her knockouts worked with Trish. Mickie, Victoria, (IDK who else is on TNA, i never watch it) I feel it would be bad plublicity to TNA not letting those couple Divas go for one night.

        • jonboi

Nope its wwe that was keeping there talent away from TNAs

It’s a strange “favourite moment” but at Backlash 2000 when she went through a table, that’s when I really respected Trish and knew she was going to go far. A former fitness model, one month into her career takes a massive bump like that, gotta give kudos to her!!

    • Ace Of Base

I love that moment too and I don’t think it’s strange. Storyline wise, she had it coming, but to later have learned that she requested to be put through the table without having Bubba take most of the impact is awesome. I believe Victoria did the same thing, and I think Victoria took it a lot harder (imo) when the “Goodfather” drove her through one too. I think it actually knocked her out from interviews I’ve read.

Back to Trish, another great moment of hers is when she took on Chyna one on one. Skill wise at that time, we knew she wasn’t going ot be any threat to The 9th Wonder of the World, but she was courageous. She didn’t run from Chyna, she didn’t back down. This time, she took her knocks like a true champion and you just had to know Trish had a lot more to offer in the ring.

After her ankle injury in 2001 – She wrestle Mighty Molly on Smackdown and that was a very good match, considering her inexperience and that wheelbarrel bulldog(right term, dunno?) was just so impressive. That was a great moment imo, because it was sort of a milestone as to how far she had progressed from her bouts earlier that year.

I loved her first Women’s Championship victory. It was a surprise, I was certain that Ivory, Lita, or Jazz would take it, but Trish really came out of knowhere and debuted the Stratusfaction on PPV. The only thing that I would have liked better was a nicer outfit and for her to bust out more moves as sher had learned in that year.

      • pumped up kicks

Prob one of my fav moments was what you stated… Her match with Molly when she came back from injury. I was completely shocked over what I saw! She was good and she kept getting better and better.

      • JD Sensations

Yeah Victoria took the RTC powerbomb, which was awesome and she deserves lots of respect for that bump, same for Lita going through a table from the top of the ladder

  • SherriShepherdWWE

true pioneer in the diva division and prof that giving hard work and determination and wanting something, it will all pay off, and look at trish, she is recognized as one of the leading divas of the WWE

true first diva, legend, and true hall of fame :)

The hottest: Trish Stratus and T&A
    The best: Stratusfation in 2001-2005
2006 all though was a goodbye year she still rocks Thank You Trish :)

Btw sweet match her against Michelle McCool at WrestleMania despite the crowd being awkwardly and horribly dead :(

  • Timalee

I’m very upset that In this Evolution didn’t include many matches that Trish Stratus did, like the Chicago Street Fight with Jazz and Victory. The fatal for way hardcore match with Victoria, Jazz, and Jaqueline. I feel they missed a whole bunch of stuff that Trish was involved in. How many people know that Trish is a former Hardcore Champion???
They didn’t talk about the whole Bubba Ray storyline. The match when Trish and the Rock vs Mr. McMahon and Kurt Angle! This woman did so much more than they didn’t even say. The didn’t talk about her 13 month title reign. Her “Broken nose”. I feel Trish Stratus was understated in this evolution of Trish Stratus.

Everyone loves the main event of her and Lita, mine to be honest was her program with Mickie, I had just started watching wrestling again, and I think that was Trish’s first big feud with her as a face!

  • MattyM

I don’t care what yall say, but in my eyes Trish is the best ever. She is the reason I fell in love with WRESTLING not just women’s but wrestling in general. She had good feuds with almost every girl, Victoria, Torrie, Candice, Stacy, Molly, Jazz, Nidia, Christy, Melina, Lay-Cool, Mickie, and Lita.

My favorite Trish moment though is when she returned to help Ashley take on Vince’s Devils, like honestly that was my childhood.

    • Timalee

My childhood was Trish Stratus..haha. I watched her from Kindergarten to the 5th grade :) And I cried on her last match on Raw. Never got to go see her live though. And it wasn’t until after she was gone that my dad finally bought tickets two years later :/ I’d always go to walmart and look for a Trish Stratus action figure. (if they didn’t have her i got another Diva(didn’t get guys other than from family members)) I would always stay up many monday nights all night just to see Trish, and if I saw her match, I stayed up just to see if Trish would re-appear. She is was started my wrestling career. eventually me and my friends started a wrestling buisness called TWE (Teen Wrestling Entertainment) Which only ran for 7 years. 2005 to 2011. And I’d been doing wrestling for years before this. And I won 5 titles. I’d do a lot of Trish Stratus moves. It was so much fun. We got an audiance in 2006. (of only like 22 people) We gained a little profit..It was such a blast. We gained like 15 guys and girls thorugh out that first year. And then in 2006/7 we started the titles. And I ended up winning the TWE title first and like losing it like two months later and then regaining it like a month…My logest title reign was 13 months…and I started the exact same time as trish..just mine was three years later. ahaha…but I think Trish had a major impact on me!

  • Shade_713

Wrestlemania XIX was the best moment for me when Trish won the women’s title against Jazz and Victoria
Also anytime she is with Chris Jericho, their chemistry is awesome

  • Gail-Trish-Brooke

I know everyone wants Lita to do it, but I really think it would mean so much more for someone like Fit Finlay or JR to induct Trish.

  • BillyGP

Edge is rumored to induct Trish.

    • Ace Of Base

That makes no sense, but WWE are good at that, so I’m not shocked if it turns out to be true. Edge might be her friend, but he didn’t have much of an impact on her career as Fit or Lita did.

    • mrmysterious

Maybe they’re going for a Canada’s greatest export kinda thing; if Edge does induct Trish!

    • Gail-Trish-Brooke

There has been no report of Edge inducting Trish..

  • TrishStratusFan

The last part of the evolution where it showed a recent pic of Trish almost brought tears to my eyes. Wow you know I said it once and I’ll say it again, When Trish get’s inducted into the Hall of Fame it will be a full circle moment for me because it was her that got me into WWE and it was her who was (and still is) my favorite wrestler through the good, the bad, and the really ugly like Trish getting put in that stuff Stephanie and Vince put her in for example. As for my favorite Trish moment. It’s really hard to pick because I love so many but if I had to pick some these easily come to mind.

    1. Trish winning her first Women’s Championship at Survivor Series.
    2. When Trish and Lita teamed up against Molly Holly and Gail Kim at Unforgiven
    3. Her entire Heel run (my all time favorite part of her career)
    4. Trish vs Lita main event on Raw
    5. Trish vs Lita at Unforgiven when she delivered that sharp shoot and held up the Women’s Title one more time.

I can’t wait to see what this woman will do in the future and I think we all know A Hall of Fame induction won’t prevent her from coming back from time to time. I’m sure it will be STRATUSFYING.

  • JD Sensations

Her mic skills were impecable. When Trish first turned heel i was pissed because i adored her as a face, but then when she got on that mic, I was marking out like hell!! Her Britney speech and the promo during Litas wedding were brilliant.

  • aldo

Tirsh was definitely a true hardworker. She totally eserves to be inducted. I want Lita to induct her.

    • aldo

      deserves*

  • divaindemise

Favourite Trish moment? Practically all of her feuds bore a match that comprises of the best women’s wrestling in the WWE’s history. From Jazz to Victoria to Molly to Lita to even Stephanie McMahon, Trish worked with so many different women with equally successful results. For me, that’s her true legacy – her reliability to do almost anything required of her.

  • flash1086

Its hard to pick a favorite moment when everything she did was gold. lol

    • Ace Of Base

That is so sweet of you both Candice and Torrie. I don’t have a twitter, but I’m going to create one just for this!

      • CandiceMichelle&TorrieWilson

I’m trying to do a good thing here, don’t understand the negativity I’ve been receiving

        • Ace Of Base

Well alot of people have become jaded however, I think you should keep up the good fight. I think if you can make a dent, then mission accomplished. Just keep at it, it might take awhile, but perhaps reminders of how great the division used to be might aid your cause. I’m sure you can think of a way to do that, legally. There are alot of diva supporters on youtube too.

      • CandiceMichelle&TorrieWilson

Thanks, I know. I’ve been there as well

  • sugarrush28

I liked Trish a lot. I’ve always said that Lita was the reason I started watching wrestling again but her feud with Trish is what got me interested in the Women’s Division as a whole. I think the match that really made me see something in Trish is when she and Molly had their first match on Smackdown and Molly debuted the Molly Go Round. I really liked the match and Trish showed that maybe she could go further than what she displayed.

    • Ace Of Base

That was a nice little match they had. Trish was busting out some chops and taking the fight to Molly. It actually makes me a little sad because I’ve always wanted to see the good Molly team up with good Trish. Molly was highly over as the lovable Holly cousin, it’s too bad they turned her into a prude and made fun of her body – which by the way was actually very attractive.

The last time we saw Molly Holly during the golden era, was in 2002 on an episode of Velocity I think? She took on Jazz and she played the good ol’ Molly, right after the superhero sidekick character was done away with and right before she went brunette and attacked Trish. The fans were solidly behind her again that time.

Anyways, you gotta love Trish. No matter her inexperience in 2000 and 2001 – she never backed down from her more menacing adversaries. I mean, she stood up to Chyna and broke a vase on her head. That took some intestinal fortitude! I was so afraid for her during that time lol.
