Raw Redux (June 24th, 2013): Stop Me if You’ve Heard This One Before

Just when you think the Divas’ storyline can’t get any better…. it DOESN’T. Oh WWE, why must you do this to me? I got off early in anxious anticipation to watch the next chapter of AJ Lee versus Kaitlyn unfold (and to watch game six of the Stanley Cup Finals) and what graced my television tonight was an absolute pile of crap segment that I watched two years ago during the LayCool/Piggie James storyline. After SmackDown featured a pretty intense segment between Kaitlyn and Aksana, it seemed only natural that they would end up in a match together on Raw.

Aksana got the match started by kicking Kaitlyn in the stomach and being ultra aggressive. The Lithuanian gets the Texan in the corner and slaps her across the kisser, which probably isn’t the best thing to do right now. That obviously fires Kaitlyn up and she starts to take control of the match. While this is going on, Kaitlyn’s interrupted by her own theme music playing. It takes a moment, but eventually AJ walks out.

And yes, she’s dressed in a fat/muscle suit looking like Kaitlyn.

The newly crowned Divas Champion basically makes a mockery out of Kaitlyn, and what happened to her with Big E. Langston. And yes, Big E. comes out to act out a little scene with AJ. Inside the ring, Kaitlyn is furious and having to be restrained by Layla. It’s kind of sad they went this route. Eventually, Big E. scoops AJ up and carries her backstage, and I’m left cringing because up to this point, this feud has been EVERYTHING.

The fact that LayCool was randomly mentioned during this segment tells me everything I need to know. Layla being involved is too much of a coicidence. I swear, if they end up doing something like LayCool 2.0 with Layla and AJ, I’m going to be so annoyed. This feud doesn’t need mean girl bitch comedy skits, like Piggie James. This feud is so much better than this. Why Layla is involved, I don’t know. I don’t know why anyone else had to get involved. Layla isn’t Kaitlyn’s friend and if she doesn’t turn heel, then I swear I’ll retire from writing the Raw Redux and just angrily tweet about wrestling from here on out.

I’m not kidding. That’s how confident I feel about how predictable this just became.

What makes Kaitlyn and AJ so hot is the fact that it’s so personal. AJ doesn’t need to be this petty. And Kaitlyn doesn’t need to be this dumb when it comes to trusting other people. I literally want to erase this segment from my mind and pretend that it didn’t happen. At the time of this writing, there are two hours left of the show. I’m hoping and praying that this isn’t the only thing we’re going to get tonight. Surely, they can’t just leave it at that can they?

They did. Disappointing Raw to say the least. Tonight this angle turned an ugly direction, one that makes me less excited to watch come SmackDown. Can’t win them all, I guess. But at least one great thing happened tonight…

STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!!!! GO BLACKHAWKS!!!!!

Until next week… where hopefully I’ll have more uplifting and inspiring things to say… Cryssi out!
