Extreme Rules Results: Paige Proves Her Toughness

Tonight at Extreme Rules, Paige delivered in her first Pay-Per-View match, defeating Tamina Snuka to retain the Divas Championship.

The new Diva overcame any jitters she may have felt, proving her toughness in overcoming some major punishment delivered by Tamina. In the end, she would capture Tamina in the scorpion cross-lock and force her to tap out.

With the win, Paige remains the Divas Champion and took a big step towards shedding her “newbie” persona.

What did you think of the match?

Very Physical Match!! They should’ve got more time but it was good for what it was!!

  • http://slidespin.tv/ CrystalFissure

Here’s a gfy I made of the Scorpion Cross Lock on Tamina: http://gfycat.com/PointedShinyInganue

    • Randumo

Tamina had to tap out fast because Paige wasn’t going to be able to hold her up long lol.

      • Brandon

Yup, plus they basically destroyed each other lol. Tamina was like “omg, can’t breath, fading…fading…fading…my statement will succeed some day”

        • Tomee

OMG, I laughed out loud. XD

          • Brandon

            It’s true tho ;)

      • http://slidespin.tv/ CrystalFissure

Yeah, it did not help Tamina’s credibility, that’s for sure. I noticed how quick it was too.

And Kane almost electrocuted FoxSana backstage. Don’t have a clue why they were in the Gorilla Position.

    • JillianHallTNA

Foxsana had a backstage segment with Kane on Extreme RUles?!??! Gimme the link!! I need to see it!!

      • Username

It was during the main event. Bryan and Kane started to brawl backstage and as they were going through the Gorilla Position, Alicia and Aksana were just standing there with a bunch of the tech guys.

  • Cody

It was a good match but ugh just not a fan of Tamina’s wrestling style. She just seems kinda sloppy. I wish AJ would have made an appearance

    • Randumo

      There were AJ chants though.

      • wwepassion

        No there weren’t.

        • Randumo

Yes, there were. This denying thing is exactly what I’ve been talking about your AJ hate. The chants happened, and there is audio proof of such.

          • wwepassion

I’ll listen later, but i heard nothing of a kind. If there were chants, it’s no surprise. It is her hometown.

          • Randumo

Well, her home state at least.

          • wwepassion

            Yea.

      • Brandon

I heard them twice, small, but I was hoping she would return

        • Cody

I didnt even notice them, crowd seemed dead :( Oh well, maybe we can get a decent storyline when AJ returns

          • Brandon

I only noticed because I thought they were saying “let’s go tamina”…I was like wtf and listened closer and they were aj ones lol

          • Randumo

Yeah, thinking you heard Tamina chants would make you take a closer listen.

          • Brandon

No offense to her, but she was dominating and I was like wtf lmao

          • Randumo

Lol, her jacket throw was awesome though.

          • Brandon

Yes! Some people don’t like the jacket throw, but I feel it fits her bodyguard gimmick.

          • Randumo

It’s her signature. As soon as I saw her wearing it on the way out, I was waiting for the moment she would throw it at Paige.

          • Cody

Tamina isnt popular though, this booking was just a flop. Tamina is suppose to be the most intimating diva, but how? She barely wins her matches for crying out loud. I think WWE is trying to make her into something she isn’t. Like a Chyna, Beth, or Karma.

  • Brandon

I thought it was good! No rest holds. Paige used new moves I’ve never seen from her, same with tamina. The only thing I didn’t like was Paige using the crosslock, but oh well. Great work ladies! I haven’t disliked one Paige match on the main roster. Time for Aj vs Paige, if not, I hope to see a brief fued with fox!

    • FOXY & FLAWLESS

I kind of hated how quickly Tamina tapped out >_< She was being built up as being so strong and tapped out quicker than Aksana and Alicia lol

      • Brandon

The only logical reason is that she lasted the longest with Paige and they fought hard. I personally think it’s because Paige would have trouble holding her longer lol. If that’s the case, she could’ve used the Paige turner.

        • FOXY & FLAWLESS

Oh that’s probably right now that I rewatch it. Tamina is probably the biggest girl (no offense, of course) that she’s had to lock it in on thus far. I can get that now, but match psychology wise, I thought she’d put up a little more fight – after all it was for the Divas title, lol.

      • Mysticsphere

i think it was because Paige would’ve had difficulty holding her up.

  • Mysticsphere

sickening ass match. Tamina’s offense was on point. I thought she was really gonna land that Samoan drop off the turnbuckle for a second, would’ve been amazing.

Paige catching the superkick was great too. Just a great match overall, and a very good PPV altogether. I’m glad WWE let these two wrestle with less restriction, it felt much less censored than the diva matches were all used to.

    • FOXY & FLAWLESS

Had Tamina actually done the Samoan Drop off the second turnbuckle….I don’t even know what I would have done. I would have probably combusted right on my couch. I was on the edge of my seat praying it happened just to show how tough Paige would be to kick out of it lol

  • Tenzen

Very nice match. Liked they went out with agression, and we saw some new moves from both of them. Great job for both girls. I just wish it was longer, but we are used to it.. hehe

I heard a report saying AJ will be out for more 4-6 weeks.. so I wouldn’t mind they build this feud now for a rematch the next pay per view..

And I also see a Brie vs Steph match that could happen.. who knows :)

  • Brandon

I watched it again online and I really wished tamina would have done the top rope Samoan drop!

    • nightofme

      Link pls :D

  • One of a Kind

Match was hampered by the crowd, but it was probably a 4/5 besides the botch by the referee. Paige is truly an amazing wrestler.

I hate to say it though, but this proves that the division needs lots of work. Many got what they wanted, and that’s an AJ break. Many also got what they wanted by having Paige win the strap. Yet some are still complaining and crowd reactions have gotten worse. This shows that booking needs to be improved for the divas and that AJ should’ve gotten more credit for her title run albeit she kind of took time off at a bad time.

    • wwepassion

The crowd are still good with the divas. It’s just Tamina they don’t care for.

      • One of a Kind

Are we really going to blame Tamina when Paige couldn’t even get a decent pop in the same arena that went wild after WM29?

        • wwepassion

A small cheer for her. But as long as they responded to her during the match as well is cool with me. Fans don’t care for Tamina so that made it worse and on top of that this feud had zero build up.

        • FOXY & FLAWLESS

Well let’s not forget this match had zero build and on top of the fact that they were in the literal death slot right after Wyatt vs. Cena and right before Bryan vs. Kane. I doubt half the audience was even in the arena.

      • Brandon

They responded to Paige’s screams…and some nice spots the two did. Did you here a crowd reaction when her entrance hit? It’s hard to tell for me because her music is loud

        • wwepassion

A small cheer for her. But as long as they responded to her during the match as well is cool with me. Fans don’t care for Tamina so that made it worse and on top of that this feud had zero build up.

        • Username

They sounded kinda dead to me when she came out.

          • Cody

They were dead but do you blame them? There was no build up at all for this match. They didnt even play like a preview to the match.

          • Username

When they showed that graphic I could have sworn they were about to play a video package and I was just wondering what the Hell they could possibly show. Then they just went right to Tamina’s entrance.

      • Wrestling.fan.from.France

No it’s not ”just” Tamina… You have to realise that not all the girls are over or are getting reactions. Aksana got nothing from her match with Paige on Raw, the crowd did not respond to Tamina here but it’s not like Paige got a big reaction as well. last raw, the brie vs Paige match, there was barely any reactions. At this point, fans care more about Tamina than every heel divas(sans AJ) and some faces as well like Cameron. They don’t care for Tamina while they really care about Paige yet the match cannot even have decent reactions. You have to understand that Paige being new and people still learning who she is is also a big reason the fans has been quite silent. They react to the good spot from both and good spot in Paige’s match in general sometimes because they like good wrestling it doesn’t take away that even Paige being new is ONE OF the reason this match did not get that much reactions.

        • wwepassion

Tamina gets zero reactions. Aksana gets reaction everytime she’s in the ring because she knows how to work a crowd. Main event the crowd was reacting to both fox and Paige. Paige get consistent reaction whether it’s big or not. More then half the divas are over and get reaction more nights rather then less. There was no reaction to the match tonight just like there were barley any for Cenas match and a few others. On top of that, they had no build up and they don’t care for Tamina.

          • Wrestling.fan.from.France

”Aksana gets reaction everytime she’s in the ring” Not everytime and I cannot even count how many time she got SILENCE.
”More then half the divas are over and get reaction” please, you are delusional, you lost all you credibility saying that unless you don’t even know what ”over” means in wrestling which I think is the case.

          • wwepassion

How about you watch some video and then come talk to me. There is no reason for me to make this up because I get nothing out of it.

  • wwepassion

Paige was Awesome. Tamina needs a better moveset. I hope aj returns tomorrow to have a actual build up for payback.

    • Brandon

Your right. Payback is the next ppv. That’s where they definitely should face. Obviously the divas title match needs a reason to fit the theme “payback”

      • wwepassion

Yea, it’s smart for her to return early for a proper build.

  • Christopher Bello

Honestly a really great match. Tamina’s best, for sure. The only thing that killed this match was the crowd (which was pretty shit from the beginning tbh).

Had they been placed better on the card they would’ve gotten a brilliant reaction, truly.

Sucks WWE always places them at 10:00 on the dot. Which proves they truly are the company’s bathroom break. Pathetic.

    • kim099

      That’s not really a bad place tho…

    • Mysticsphere

Definitely. They wanted to make sure everyone emptied their bladders before the big finale. Rusev squash match should’ve been the piss break, but oh well, thats bookin for ya.

      • Christopher Bello

        Seriously ????

    • Brandon

I hate how people pay to see a ppv that seemed bad already, and they barely cheered…even for some big stars -_- it’s like…ok why go.

      • Mysticsphere

i feel that way whenever people chant “boring” or other derisive chants, especially during diva or low card matches. If I was there, I would just enjoy the show as much as possible, shit get your money’s worth and take it all in people! lol

      • perceval

They weren’t even loud for Bryan vs Kane for the most part, aside from the periodic Yes chants. The crowd was fine until the Cena match. They died during that.

        • Randumo

They made Cena look too strong at some points, which was annoying the crowd. Nobody over the age of 7 wants to see super Cena overpower two guys at the same time.

      • Christopher Bello

I agree!!!! Like you paid money hoe… start reacting

    • Wrestling.fan.from.France

Not Tamina’s best. Her best was against Beth at Elimination chamber 2012 as for the crowd, it’s not that surprising, I mean, they placed it just after two big matches, the fans were tired and on top of that, people are still learning who Paige is.

  • Brandon

Did anybody else wanna attack king for saying to Paige “she’s confident, passionate…and pale!” Your the reason people think divas should be tan. Brainwashing the kids to make them think being pale is bad…ughhh

    • Jen7201

In every Raw match she has been on they always talk about her being pale and they also bring up Sheamus

      • Brandon

It’s annoying. Just like people saying “shades of daddy” for tamina and nattie

      • WomenWrestlingRevolution 014

Lawler looks like Chucky’s grandfather so he really should be silent

        • tstumo

          lmao. thanks for that laugh.

  • FOXY & FLAWLESS

The match was alright, but again that leaves us at – where do we go now? When did we stop getting surprises at the PPV and start getting them at the RAW after the PPV? I don’t wanna wait until tomorrow night to know the direction of the Divas division, I wanna know now! Lol. If AJ doesn’t return is Paige just going to mow through the Divas until another battle royal on Main Event that receives no build up all the way until the Superstars before the PPV where Paige defends? Let’s hope not.

    • Tomee

AJ will take part in the UK turn so I expect her to show up today on Raw.

      • Brandon

All we need is for her to destroy Paige in her hometown…the hate would be awesome :)

        • FOXY & FLAWLESS

If that happens…just imagine the heat. Dear lord, I can hear it now. Imagine if they set it up by having Paige’s family greet her as she enters the building and tells her how proud they are of her. Then later on after defeating [insert name here] she’s just totally beat tf down and berated in front of her own family. Ugh. Make it happen WWE. Please – you owe us.

          • Brandon

Tamina throws her jacket at Paige like trash after the beat down lol

          • FOXY & FLAWLESS

Lmao the Samoan Snatcher has to make her statement somehow!

          • Randumo

The problem with gaining heat in that way, is that UK hate would not carry over to US fans.

          • FOXY & FLAWLESS

Well I just meant the heat in the UK, not overall. You can’t expect for heat from one segment to carry over into the other weeks period. No matter where they are. The segment post-Mania was the most heat and the most pops either Paige or AJ have ever gotten (as it pertains to the Divas Division) and those pops barely carried over into the following weeks for Paige. They have to continuously put on a show, not just do something spectacular for one night and then expect the fans to care the next week when we just get a match and nothing else.

          • Randumo

The reasons it didn’t carry over for Paige were that, that post Wrestlemania crowd was heavily European. Also, she went from being out there with AJ, to being out there with the likes of Aksana & Alicia Fox.

          • wwepassion

The USA crowds respond to her great.

          • FOXY & FLAWLESS

Lol but Alicia managed to get heat from the crowd that very next week, so I don’t get your point? It’s not like the crowd was dead silent when she taunted them, she actually elicited a response that made the fans want to get behind Paige when she eventually let out her scream. It’s not FoxSana’s fault that they’ve spent the last few years being jobbers so they’re not considered the most credible heels. That’s WWE’s fault. They need to build up more than just one heel at a time.

          • wwepassion

            I agree, your spot on.

          • Randumo

The point is that the crowd reactions steadily went down. That first match was exciting for people because it was her first appearance as the new champion.

          • FOXY & FLAWLESS

It’s like we’re arguing the same point, lmao. That’s what I’m saying. You’re blaming it on who she’s paired up against to face, but it’s not their fault they’re not credible heels. WWE isn’t giving the audience a reason to cheer for Paige or care for her existence because they aren’t putting her on the mic and giving her a personality. The whole gimmick leading up to this match against Tamina was to prove she wasn’t a flash in the pan and they didn’t even let her cut a promo on that and the promo packages we were seeing weren’t even matching what the commentators were saying. JBL, Cole, and King are all saying she wants to prove it wasn’t a fluke meanwhile the packages are showing her dominating everyone and everything and being a force to be reckon with. The crowd has no idea who she is so it’s all just one big clusterfuck of personalities + no mic time = why should we (the fans) even care?

          • Randumo

Total Divas decimated the heel roster. That just shows you how much AJ was doing for the division, that people didn’t think about that all those months.

          • wwepassion

            Aj buried the whole division.

          • Randumo

How do you come up with that? She lost plenty of non title matches, and made the TD cast look strong. All of the girls she had matches with still look better than they are. Whereas all of the other heel divas looks weak because TD squashed them on a regular basis. Neither Alicia nor Aksana won a singles match against any of them. Alicia even lost to Eva in a match so bad, it ended up getting cut from Smackdown(which is good imo because Alicia doesn’t deserve having to job to Eva)

          • wwepassion

Alicia and Aksana were jobbers before T.D even came out. Aj buried the division by her mouth. She let her personal feelings get the best of her that she actually buried them with her pipebomb. She never gave anyone credit or hyped up any match to make fans care. Instead she bashed them and said how bored she was. She should not have beaten everyone which made them look weak.

        • perceval

I’m expecting Summer to be the one to do that, actually.

      • wwepassion

I agree, i feel like she will show up on Raw. It’s a must any how.

    • Yvain

Paige is following Aj’s footstep, by holding the title till 2015, 300 days minimum to become the longest reigning divas champion! Hurray!

      • perceval

Nah, I expect Summer to take it at Summerslam. We already know she and Paige work great together, and the Division will need a new top heel since AJ really needs to turn face. Summer can go on throughout the build about Summerslam being her PPV.

        • Yvain

I was kidding about the longest reigning part. Knowing wwe, I don’t think summer is going to be the girl that is going to dethrone her. Nikki and brie obviously have a more favorable position than her in the company. The belt might be hand over to 1 of the twin (hopefully not) or back to aj lee. Though it will be cool to see summer holding the belt!

  • SupermanPunch

AJ vs Paige at Payback would be awesome since last year AJ won the title againts Kaitlyn and it’s gonna be in her hometown since she’s moving there I just hope and pray we don’t get a Tamina vs Paige 2 I honestly think Tamina sucks.

  • wwepassion

The shield stole the show like always! Off topic.

    • Brandon

      Duh! They always do!

      • wwepassion

        Duh!

    • Randumo

It would have been even better had the outcome not been completely obvious.

      • wwepassion

Most thought Evolution was gonna win to make the feud stretch longer. It wasn’t that obvious.

        • Randumo

It was obvious to everyone who knew that Batista was leaving after this match.

          • wwepassion

He’s said not to be leaving anymore, maybe just one week break and then work with Daniel.

          • Randumo

I was under the impression that he had some movie filming to do.

          • wwepassion

He does, but now the rumor is that he’s working payback. I don’t legit believe any rumor on him though.

          • Randumo

He looked a little out of place tonight in that match.

          • wwepassion

That’s nothing new from him honestly.

  • nsuviolin

One plus is that the divas were allowed to be more physical than usual. But minimal (to put it mildly) build-up and being stuck in the bathroom break spot hurt this one. It’s honestly felt like business as usual with the divas, just with a new girl added.

I wanna be excited for the day AJ comes back, but WWE just gives me little-to-no reason to have faith in how the divas will be booked.

    • Mysticsphere

Not only that, but a lot of wrestling fans hate diva matches period. To me it’s not only booking that needs improvement, it’s storylines to get people at least interested. They are slowly improving in the wrestling department, the matches post WM have been a lot better than a year ago.

    • perceval

Well, we have the disadvantage right now of both AJ & Summer being out. They’ll both be back. But, in the meantime, Alicia’s cred is being rebuilt, Layla’s tied up with Emma.

That left Tamina or Aksana among the heels. Or Rosa.

      • Randumo

Doesn’t she have to at least win a match to have credibility?

  • Jen7201

I sort of expected Stephanie to slap Daniel

  • Jen7201

This is random but why does Tamina always get one on one title shots at PPVs with the letter E at the beginning?

  • CokeCaps

I guess Paige helped lower the standard of divas matches. No matter how mediocre her matches are all she has to do is a hurricarana and everyone will call it the best divas match of the year.

    • wwepassion

Uh she did more then that.Look up more matches she has plenty of offense and we saw that with fox.

      • CokeCaps

The match where Alicia did 50 tilt-a-whirls and Paige did 50 clotheslines and everyone called it Alicia’s best match? That just proves my point that the standards have been lowered so much that people will call any Paige match great no matter how cheap it is.

        • FOXY & FLAWLESS

You’re getting moves mixed up with match psychology, which shows how well versed you are with wrestling. The THREE (not 50) tilt-a-whirls were not to be repetitive, they were to make a point that Paige was Alicia’s ragdoll, nothing more and nothing less. She was doing it to show off to the audience and that’s why she was constantly taunting them after she did each one. C’mon now, step your game up.

          • CokeCaps

If doing the same repetitive shit a million times a match is psychology I guess Kelly Kelly was the queen of psychology.

        • wwepassion

I don’t know what match your talking about, but the main event match had multiple different moves.

        • tstumo

Going to have to agree. I truly thought I was the only one. I’m like am I in the twlight zone or something That was not a good match and I love me some Alicia. This to me honestly was Paige’s best match since debuting on the main roster. But that’s not saying a whole lot because the match just had good moments. Was not solid all the way through. People give Tamina flack but I felt like Tamina did good here. It’s a shame people just wont connect with her.

    • FOXY & FLAWLESS

But she didn’t do a hurricanrana. It was reversed into a slam into the
barricade, which we have not seen a Diva be slammed into the barricade
like that since Michelle slammed Kelly into the barricade (which looked
like it was almost a botch) when they defended the World title in the
Smackdown main event. That spot as pretty awesome. Plus I thought the opening chain sequence with Tamina that lead to the first roll-up was pretty crafty.

    • CrazyGirlAJ

She didn’t do a hurricanrana. You’re basically a Paige hater..

      • CokeCaps

I know she didn’t. It’s the point that all it takes is one impressive move to make up for a boring 6 minute match.

        • CrazyGirlAJ

If you don’t like it then don’t watch.

      • perceval

Hey, you gotta feel for the poor guy. Here Paige, Emma, & Summer come along, finally giving AJ, Natalya, & Alicia opponents who can work on their level, rendering a huge chunk of the Division irrelevant.

Or, maybe some have different standards. Most of us see the Golden Era matches as the level to reach for. Maybe this guy thinks the Kelly Kelly era was how Diva matches should be.

        • CokeCaps

LMAO if you’re seriously suggesting that Paige’s sloppy shitfest matches are on that same level then you’re clearly the one with rock bottom standards all it took was one of your precious indy darlings to work at a below average rate for you to start believing that’s what the average is.

    • Brandon

Well, she’s the only divas I’ve seen since the Bella’s improvement who’s used new moves EVERY match. Also, the matches have definitely been more hard hitting. I honestly have no idea what you want considering all her matches and competitors had decent/good matches so far…

      • CrazyGirlAJ

        Don’t forget Foxy’s and Naomi’s new moves.

        • Brandon

Yes, they add some, but not every match. Of course I can’t hate on fox since she’s barley on tv, and when she is, she’s great.

          • CrazyGirlAJ

            Yes, but Naomi rarely appears.

  • redsandman99

I thought this was tons better than their match last year in NXT. Enjoyed it and was glad Paige retained.

  • CrazyGirlAJ

The match was great. I loved that near fall with Tamina kicking out. I was like what??

    I hope AJ returns, soon.

  • MJ

Lana was amazing tonight. The match between Paige and Tamina Snuka was really good but not great or spectacular. Tamina, to me, is somewhat painful to watch because she really just doesn’t have “it” and her disconnection with the crowd is obvious. Paige continues to impress me.

It annoys me so bad because I feel like Tamina could be so special with a mouthpiece, aka the one and only Vickie G. Her in-ring talents aren’t the most special, but look at Curtis Axel when he was with Paul Heyman. Curtis is terrible on the mic, his wrestling is sub-par, and his look is generic, but with Paul Heyman he was special. All they needed to do all these years, in my opinion, is capitalize on when Tamina came back originally and attacked AJ in Vickie’s favor. They never capitalized on that relationship, still haven’t, and it has hurt Tamina in the long run.

It’s like all the parts are there but it just doesn’t gel. Tamina has moments where she does really good work. Natalya & Paige worked decent matches with her this week, but nothing spectacular, and when neither of THEM can manage it…

I don’t know the name of the move but I loved how paige did that hurricane movement like thing in the middle of the ring

    • FOXY & FLAWLESS

I think it was just a tilt-a-whirl headscissors but on Tamina’s knees instead of standing up, if that’s the move you mean. (btw I love Nicki so your avi <333)
