AEW writes off Awesome Kong with an “injury”

On last night’s AEW Dark, The Nightmare Collective has already started to implode. The tides changed for the stable after Mel took on Hikaru Shida. Despite Awesome Kong‘s efforts to interfere in the match, Mel still came out with a loss. This loss did not sit well with Kong.

Kong and Mel would exchange words post-match causing member Luther to get involved. He would hold back Kong as Mel took advantage and hit her. She followed this up by throwing Kong through the barrier as the attack continues. Mel would finish up the attack with a leg drop on Kong on the steel steps.

Kong, although she didn’t have many matches, was a founding member of The Nightmare Collective along with Brandi Rhodes. They since recruited Mel and most recently Luther. The group was seen several times trying to coerce Kris Statlander in joining. She wouldn’t end up joining.

According to AEW’s tweet, at least storyline-wise Kong is out and may not be returning. The exact reason for this isn’t known. It might be possible that her on-screen write off may be to film the last season of GLOW.

How do you think this will affect The Nightmare Collective? Could this be the end of the stable?
