Alexa Bliss confirmed as 100 percent cleared for competition

It seems that Alexa Bliss may be ready to return to in-ring competition after a lengthy break due to injury, as Hall of Famer Mark Henry confirmed during an appearance on Busted Open Radio.

Bliss has largely been relegated to ringside for the past couple of months, after a series of injuries, including an arm injury in her Raw Women’s Championship rematch with Ronda Rousey at Hell in a Cell in September, and a subsequent concussion at a WWE Live Event in Hartford, Connecticut.

She was replaced by Alicia Fox in a tag team match against Trish Stratus and Lita at the WWE’s first all-women pay-per-view, Evolution, and served as a non-competing captain for the Raw Women’s team at Survivor Series. Acting General Manager Baron Corbin recently picked Alexa Bliss to run the Raw Women’s Division, ensuring she continued to enjoy on-screen opportunities, even though she couldn’t perform in-ring.

The concussion was Bliss’s third major injury this year, having previously hurt her shoulder in an earlier title rematch against Nia Jax at Backlash in May, and there had been concern about her future in the company. She appeared to deny rumors of an early retirement in a tweet last month.

Henry, who has transitioned to a producer rule at WWE since his retirement last year, confirmed that Bliss is cleared to return to in-ring competition, saying, “We are very happy that she’s gonna be back in the fray.” Bliss had suffered memory loss and vertigo as a result of the concussion, but is now “100 percent cleared”. He went on to say that there was no set date for her return, but that it could be “as fast as next week”.

Bliss is a five-time Women’s Champion, one of the company’s most popular stars and arguably the most dominant heel in the entire main roster. Her same-night cash-in at Money in the Bank, which interrupted a title match between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey, was included in the Match of the Year collection added to the WWE Network earlier this week.
