Kia Stevens, aka Awesome Kong, announced that she’s undergoing back surgery today.
She revealed the procedure on her Instagram account:
She has been dealing with back issues throughout her wrestling career.
Kia plays Tammé “The Welfare Queen” Dawson in the Netflix original comedy series GLOW from producer Jenji Kohan (creator of Orange Is the New Black), which was inspired by the 1980s female professional wrestling league Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Season Two premieres next month.
She occasionally wrestles but has been focused on her acting career.
