Becky Lynch is one of the biggest names in wrestling, but she wants to be bigger than arguably wrestling’s biggest star, The Rock.
Lynch returned to WWE last month at SummerSlam and defeated Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Now she is back on top of the WWE mountain she is ready to inspire the next generation of women’s wrestlers.
In an interview with New York Daily News, The Man talked about taking her rightful place as the face of the women’s division.
“As we evolve, it’s just inspiring more women to get into it and to see what we can do. I don’t want to take full credit for it, but I’ll take full credit for it. Once everybody saw that people can rally around a woman the way that they do and can carry them to the main event and that we can have the main event at Wrestlemania and sell out arenas like we did, you can see that, ‘oh, OK, she can do it. I can do it.’ That’s not something to take on lightly. That’s something that I take on with pride. It doesn’t scare me because I think I’m the woman for the job.”
Lynch then revealed that she has other goals she wishes to achieve. Lynch intends on being a bigger star than The Rock but declared that she wants to do it in her own way.
“I hope I can be bigger than The Rock and better than The Rock. The Rock is a good friend. The Rock is a great friend. But I’m on a different path, and I’m different than The Rock, and I’m not trying to be the next anybody. I’m the first Becky Lynch.”
Lynch will face Belair for the blue brand’s women’s title at Extreme Rules later this month.
