The WWE has announced the match on WWE.com. The accompanying article has positioned the match as an opportunity for Sasha to assert herself in the Divas Title scene:
The Kickoff match is the latest in a thrilling series of bouts fought this year between WWE’s self-proclaimed Lass Kicker and The Boss. Back in May, before the Divas Revolution took hold in WWE, then-NXT Women’s Champion Sasha defeated Becky in an evenly matched, and critically acclaimed, contest at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable.
More recently, on the Nov. 23 edition of Raw, Becky appeared to have Sasha’s number when the two met again in singles action. Locked in Becky’s Dis-arm-her submission hold toward the end of the match, The Boss visibly tapped out. However, thanks to a distraction by her Team B.A.D. cohorts, Naomi and Tamina, the referee was out of position, and Sasha rebounded seconds later to score a pinfall victory.
Since that last encounter, Becky has been swept into the ongoing rivalry between her former Team PCB teammates. Becky failed to defeat Charlotte on Monday, but the Divas Champion stole a page from the playbook of her father – “The Dirtiest Player in the Game” Ric Flair – to get the job done. On SmackDown, Becky overcame Paige, though the victory was arguably tainted by the ringside presence of Charlotte, who arrived unannounced mid-match.
Can Becky add to her momentum with a victory over Team B.A.D.’s Boss? Or will Sasha assert herself into the title scene with a big win?
TLC Kickoff airs live on the WWE Network tonight starting at 7pm ET.
