… Maryse! In a flip-flop of last year’s top two, the two time Divas Champion has replaced Melina at the apex of this year’s 50 Sexiest Divas countdown, thwarting the current Divas Champion’s chances of a three-peat.

Maryse was last year’s #2, narrowly coming behind Melina and this year, narrowly beating Melina. In 2008, she ranked at #15 on the countdown.

This year’s chart saw more votes than ever. 15,000 votes were cast over the course of the competition.

Also making the top 10 is Mickie James, holding onto her #3 spot from last year, despite being released earlier this year. Mickie’s charting shows her continuing popularity even without a WWE spotlight.

WWE Women’s Champion, Layla, makes a big leap from last year’s #15 to #4 this year, perhaps attributed to her rising star power as one half of Lay-Cool.

Two big debuts inside the top 10 include SHIMMER’s Tenille Tayla and Wrestlicious’ Lizzy Valentine. The two independent stars are without the exposure of a big national company like WWE or TNA, which makes their debuts all the more impressive.

Nearly 10,000 votes were cast for Diva Dirt‘s second annual 50 Sexiest Divas competition, a rival to lists such as FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women.

Perez’s votes nearly doubled that of her nearest rival, former WWE Divas Champion Maryse Ouellet who polled at #2. Ouellet rose 13 spots from the year prior.

When told of the news, Perez expressed her delight and looks forward to receiving her ‘Sexiest Woman in Wrestling’ trophy, to be presented by Diva Dirt.

I can now reveal that the results of 50 Sexiest Divas 2009 will be revealed next week! The countdown will be spread over 5 days beginning Monday, August 3rd — with 50-41, 40-31 on Tuesday and so forth! Next Friday we will reveal the top 10!

Okay so for time for a second teaser update…

Last week I noted that it was a four Diva affair for the top; two Divas from SmackDown and two Divas from Raw. Well I can now reveal that one of those SmackDown Divas has dropped in the past week and has been overtaken by a Raw Diva and a certain legend.

So the probability is high for a Raw Diva to take the #1 spot, as three Divas from the red brand are vying for the ‘Sexiest Diva 2009′ crown against just one SmackDown Diva!

You guys have been voting for the 50 Sexiest Divas top 50 for over a week now and so far we have had a huge response! With 2 weeks still to go until polls close, I thought I’d give you periodical updates about how the countdown is shaping up!

I can tell you that the race for the #1 spot is definitely tight and is a 4 Diva race, right now. Here’s some teasers:

- All four of these Divas are currently working for WWE.
- Two are Raw Divas and two are SmackDown Divas.
- Only one of them is blonde [which shows that your idea of beauty differs from WWE's cookie cutter blonde image!]
- I would say I’m surprised that one of them is getting as many votes as she is, she’s not exactly a ‘top Diva’.

This June, Diva Dirt is launching it’s second annual 50 Sexiest Divas competition and we want your help! This one goes out to all the talented music video makers out there. We often see great video tributes on YouTube, so we’re giving you a chance to showcase your work on Diva Dirt and win a $50 gift voucher to Highspots.com!

We are happy to accept as many submissions as possible, the Diva Dirt team will then pick our favourites and post them on the site for our readers to see! At the end of June, our audience will have the chance to vote for their favourite video and the winner will win the prize!

Specifications
- Music videos must be between 1-4 minutes long.
- Must feature an eclectic mix of Divas and Knockouts (past or present).
- Must feature text at the end ’50 Sexiest Divas 2009′ and ‘vote at diva-dirt.com’.
- Diva Dirt reserves the right to have the final say on music used.

Rules
- You may enter the competition as many times as you like. This means you can submit more than one video.
- Not all videos will be eligible. We will pick our favourites to post on the site and put up for viewer vote.
- Any videos that don’t meet our specifications (see above) will automatically be disqualified.
- Videos will be posted all through the month of June, voting will begin in July.
- We do have some specific songs in mind for use in music videos, however are also open for suggestions. As in our specifications, we reserve the right to have the final say.
- Deadline to submit videos is Friday, June 5th. If you need an extension, please e-mail us and give a reason.

How to apply
To apply, please send us an e-mail expressing your interest to take part. If we feel you can meet your specifications, we will reply back and give you authorisation to go ahead and make a video for us.

Diva Dirt‘s first annual 50 Sexiest Divas list has been unveiled and we can confirm that former Women’s Champion and Raw Diva, Melina has been crowned your Sexiest Diva 2008. More than 900 votes were cast and Melina was the clear favourite, taking the #1 spot on the 50-Diva countdown. Melina will be awarded a specially made trophy from Diva Dirt later this year, so stay tuned for more on that!

Coming in at #2 was former Diva and Playboy covergirl, Torrie Wilson with fellow former Diva and legendary Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus at #3. Other Divas in the top 10 include the likes of Maria, Candice Michelle and Gail Kim. Check out the full list at the official site!

Our first ever 50 Sexiest Divas list has generated a near 900 votes, we can confirm today. Much like FHM, Maxim and People, Diva Dirt held voting for our own Diva-centric list in June. Your votes are currently being counted and the full list will be revealed on Monday, August 18th, 2008.

Okay so here’s the deal, every once in a while I’m gonna blog and update you guys on the status of 50 Sexiest Divas, just to give you a flavour of what’s going on. In future, I may even give you tips into who’s getting a lot of votes etc. But only if you’re very lucky! But with this first post I just want to say a big THANK YOU.

We just launched this competition two days ago and already it’s exceeded our every expectation, honestly we didn’t expect such a huge response. The last time I checked the vote count (this morning) it was well over 200 votes. I’m going to be honest, I wasn’t expecting even a 100 in the first week! Not only that, but in two days our YouTube video has gotten over 1000 views too! The wait is over! The time is now… Diva Dirt is proud to present to you, it’s first ever 50 Sexiest Divas list! For the past 16 days we have been counting down to this launch, the day we get to reveal our biggest project ever! We hope to make 50 Sexiest Divas an annual event each and every summer, one that we want you all to be part of!

The premise is simple: In the same vain as FHM, Maxim, People etc. we are compiling our very own list dedicated entirely to the women of wrestling!
