Not a strong week for Eve Torres, as she left the Royal Rumble on the losing side of an eight diva tag, and was also defeated on Raw in a Divas Championship match that lasted under a minute.

Hopefully the coming week will be better for Eve so she can start to rise in the ranks of the Perfect 10!

While she didn’t win a match or take part in any sort of diva related segment, Vickie Guerrero did manage Jack Swagger to United States title victory…and not only that, but she also gave us some hilarious entertainment on Friday Night Smackdown in a dance off against Brodus Clay.

That’s surely enough for a spot on the Perfect 10!

Last Week: –

Making her way back into the Perfect 10 this week is none other than the freakin’ Costa Rican, Rosa Mendes, who not only managed Primo & Epico to a victory over the Tag Champs on Smackdown, but even got to cut a backstage promo that was shown prior to the match.

Clearly this is the most prominent role Rosa has had since Glamarella, and we certainly hope it continues because she’s finally getting to showcase herself and form an actual character. Keep up the good work!

Although she didn’t come out with a victory this week, Natalya managed to get her face on TV for two separate occasions as she competed on both Raw and SmackDown.

Although we aren’t quite sure about a few things that happened in either bout, hopefully Natalya can get back on that brief win streak she was assembling a few weeks ago.

It was a pretty mixed week for our Freakin’ Costa Rican, Rosa Mendes as she managed Primo & Epico to a loss on both TLC and SmackDown, however gained some composure with a victory on Raw!

With her Latin dances and beautifully spoken Spanish cheering them on, we’re sure that Primo and Epico will make up for this pit stop in their road to Tag Team glory!

The Divas of Doom are not the ladies you want to upset, so one has to wonder just what will come as punishment to those divas who tried to upstage them this week. Also, props for the creative tissue box entrance!

Natalya spent her second consecutive week in singles action on Raw, but like last week, did not emerge victorious. This time, she surprisingly lost out to Alicia Fox, but thanks to an impressive showing, maintains her spot on the Perfect 10.

Hopefully Natalya can turn things around with a victory next week and take a higher spot like she so rightfully deserves!

Honorary shout out this week goes to none other than the seven-time Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus, who proved that even after five years of retirement she could stroll in and make us feel like giddy little schoolboys/girls again.

Sadly, we didn’t get to hear that iconic Lil’ Kim entrance song this time, but seeing Trish with her former beau Christian and fellow retired legend Edge made us all gooey and nostalgic inside.

Perfect 10 of 2010: Michelle McCool (#1)

It’s that time of year once again: the Perfect 10 is back to count down the top 10 Divas and Knockouts of 2010. Based on their year’s successes, we’ve compiled (as best we can) the ten Divas and Knockouts we feel gave us a 2010 to remember in WWE and TNA. Check back over the next five days to see the countdown unfold, with the #1 being revealed on New Year’s Eve (Friday).

#1: MICHELLE MCCOOL
LAST YEAR: #1 – 2008: #1
For the third year in a row, Michelle McCool tops the Perfect 10 and really… is it any surprise? Love her or hate her, the controversial Diva has had continued success in the WWE Divas division over the past 12 months. After becoming the first ever Divas Champion in 2008, the first ever woman to hold the Divas and Women’s Championships in 2009, the question was, ‘Just what more could Michelle accomplish in 2010?’ It seemed nothing. How wrong we were.

In the past 12 months, Michelle has held both the Women’s and Divas Championships and became known as the ‘Flawless History-Maker’ by unifying the two belts in September. The cherry on the cake? Being crowned ‘Diva of the Year’ at the Slammys in December.

Continuing her feud from 2009 with Mickie James, Michelle and ‘flawless BFF’ Layla continued their mockery of James into 2010. In January, the pair held a ‘Piggie James Going Away’ party for the multi-time Women’s Champion, splattering a cake in her face in what proved to be one of the most powerful Diva segments in some time. Michelle got her comeuppance, however, at the Royal Rumble when James took the Women’s Championship from her and added insult the injury by dumping a cake of her own all over Lay-Cool.

But that was only the beginning of Michelle’s year. With SmackDown’s official consultant and friend of Lay-Cool, Vickie Guerrero, as special guest referee in a rematch, Michelle regained the belt after Vickie slapped Mickie distracting her long enough for Michelle to hit her devastating big boot.

Lay-Cool turned their attention to Beth Phoenix next, dubbing her the ‘Manazon’ and ‘Glama-man’. In April, McCool and Phoenix made history by competing in the first ever Extreme Makeover match in which the Glamazon was victorious. After suffering an ACL tear injury, Michelle and Layla managed to defeat Beth in a two-on-one handicap match in May when Layla pinned Beth. Though she was the official Women’s Champion, Lay-Cool introduced a second Women’s Title belt and declared themselves co-Women’s Champions.

While finding the time to successfully mentor Kaval to victory on NXT season two, Lay-Cool also found themselves in a tag team feud with the Blondetourage: Kelly Kelly and Tiffany. Layla successfully put away Kelly Kelly in a Women’s Championship bout at Money in the Bank in July, while Michelle successfully pinned Tiffany for the belt in a quasi-rematch.

Next up, having defeated all the Divas on SmackDown, Michelle and Layla turned their attention to Raw’s new Divas Champion, Melina, just moments after she won the belt at SummerSlam. Laying her out and making a statement that they were the top dogs in the Divas division, Lay-Cool then challenged Melina to a title unification match at Night of Champions. Despite Layla being the official Women’s Champ, it was Michelle that did battle with Melina and made history once more. This time, she had successfully unified the Divas and Women’s Championships, earning the title ‘Flawless History-Maker’ at WWE.com.

Once again sharing their newly won title, Lay-Cool became co-Divas Champions and faced off against Natalya. Michelle successfully retained the belt against the third-generation Diva at Hell in a Cell, as did Layla at Bragging Rights, but they lost the belt to Natalya at November’s Survivor Series. Adding insult to injury, that same week, Lay-Cool were humiliated on Raw by 87-year-old Mae Young who pinned them in a match which earned them a Slammy award for ‘Knucklehead Moment of the Year’.

It was also as the Slammys that Michelle won a Divas battle royal to become ‘Diva of the Year’.

Continuing to make history just in time for the holidays, Lay-Cool, Natalya and Beth Phoenix took part in the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match.

With the Women’s Championship and Divas Championship around her waist, two ‘first ever’ matches, and a Slammy award, it’s no surprise that Michelle McCool is once again at the top of the summit on the annual Perfect 10. As they say, good things come in threes. Can anyone knock Michelle off the top spot next year?

Perfect 10 of 2010: Madison Rayne (#2)

Much like Layla’s rise in the Divas division, 2010 was the year of the Rayne in TNA. After Angelina Love’s release in September 2009, Rayne found herself becoming the leader of The Beautiful People going into 2010, despite Velvet Sky being one of the group’s founding members. Finding her feet in TNA, Rayne has gone onto become a three-time Knockouts Champion within the span of 12 months and pretty much the queen bee in the company.

Rayne’s ascension to Knockout glory began in January when Angelina Love returned to TNA, turning babyface and feuding with Rayne and her Beautiful cohorts. Rayne led her group to victory in March as she, Velvet and Lacey won the Knockouts Tag Team Championships. Not content with just that, Rayne pinned Tara in a ‘Winner Take All’ tag team cage match in April, becoming the Knockouts Champion effectively allowing The Beautiful People to hold all the Knockouts gold. Rayne made history as the first Knockout to hold both belts simultaneously.

In May, Madison became known as the ‘Career Killer’ when she put her belt up on the line against Tara at Sacrifice with the stipulation that if Tara lost, her TNA career would be over. After ending Tara’s career, she also eliminated on-off Knockout, Roxxi from the company in June at Slammiversary in a second ‘Title vs Career’ match.

But it would be her constant rival Angelina Love that put an end to Rayne’s reign of terror at Victory Road, when she defeated Madison for the belt via disqualification due to interference from a mystery figure who the referee believed to be Velvet Sky or Lacey Von Erich. As per the rules of the bout, should either interfere, the belt would change hands. As the referee couldn’t prove that it was either Velvet or Lacey under the mysterious biker helmet, the belt was handed back to Rayne for her second championship run. That run would only last a mere three weeks however, as Love pinned Madison fair and square for the title on a special episode of Impact in August.

With her new alignment with the Mystery Biker Chick, tensions mounted within the Beautiful camp as Velvet and Lacey claimed she had developed an attitude and were wary of her friendship with the mysterious biker. After calling a truce, things came to a head as Madison and the biker inadvertently cost Velvet and Lacey the Knockouts Tag Team Championship.

Soon the original Beautiful People reunited and teamed to face Rayne and the biker, who were victorious. In an unmasking, it was revealed that the biker was none other than Tara, the woman that Rayne had retired months back. Rayne had brought her back to TNA to benefit her own career, it was revealed. This was none more so evident than when Tara won the Knockouts Championship at Bound for Glory in October, but then laid down and allowed Rayne to win the belt from her just a week later on Impact as she ‘owed her career’ to Rayne.

The reign of Rayne continued right throught the end of the year, as she ends 2010 as Knockouts Champion. After aiding her partner, Tara, in her feud with Mickie James, James’ sights are now set on the champion going into 2011.

In 2010, Madison Rayne proved to the world that she is the top Knockout in TNA. Her metamorphosis from Angelina and Velvet’s lackey into bratty, shouty heel queen has made her into the success story of the Knockouts division in TNA and perhaps one of the top success stories in TNA as a whole.

Going into 2011 with her belt firmly around her waist and a feud with the world-famous Mickie James in effect, it’s good to be Madison Rayne.

Perfect 10 of 2010: Layla (#3)

No Diva has seen her stock rise quite in a 12 month period quite like Layla. The rise and rise of the London-born Diva has to be considered perhaps one of the greatest success stories of the year. While Divas like Eve and Alicia were touted ‘the next big thing’ in the Divas division, it was Layla who truly proved to be the next top Diva in WWE, joining the ranks of Michelle McCool, Melina and Beth Phoenix. By associating herself with McCool last year, Layla shot to the top of the Divas division and became one half of the duo that defined 2010 in female wrestling: Lay-Cool. She now defines herself not as ‘former Diva Search winner’ but as ‘former Women’s Champion’.

Beginning the year by continuing her feud along with Michelle against Mickie James, Layla memorably donned a fatsuit on an episode of SmackDown, mocking James. At January’s Royal Rumble, again she donned the fatsuit but this time she was attacked by Mickie, who then went onto defeat Michelle for the Women’s Title and dumped a cake on both members of Lay-Cool just as they had done to her some weeks prior.

Despite being humiliated, the year would get a lot better as Michelle regained the Women’s Championship just a month later and the duo of Lay-Cool turned their attention to the Glamazon, Beth Phoenix. Mocking her for her lack of femininity, Lay-Cool dubbed her the ‘Manazon’ and ‘Glama-man’. After Beth defeated McCool in an Extreme Makeover match in April, Lay-Cool would then team up in a two-on-one handicap match on SmackDown against the injured Beth who had torn her ACL just a week prior. In the match, Beth dropped the belt to Lay-Cool and much to the surprise of fans, it was Layla who picked up the pin and officially won the Women’s Championship, making her the first Diva Search winner to do so.

A first in Diva history, Lay-Cool declared themselves co-Women’s Champions, first holding a title each and then sharing half of a belt. Over the summer, the duo feuded with Kelly Kelly (who they dubbed ‘Smelly Kelly’) and Tiffany (‘Skirt Tiffany’). Layla found herself in the mix of things in this feud, defending the Women’s Championship on behalf of Lay-Cool at Money in the Bank in July. The flawless one was victorious in retaining the belt.

Following Melina’s return to Raw in August, the two SmackDown Divas made their presence felt following a Raw Divas Championship match at SummerSlam, laying out Melina. Lay-Cool then challenged Melina to a title unification match at Night of Champions. Tension soon arose in the Lay-Cool camp as they tried to decide who should face Melina: it ended up being Michelle McCool, despite Layla being the official champion. Though she teased that she wasn’t in Michelle’s corner at the pay per view, at the end of the match Layla distracted Melina, allowing Michelle to pick up the win. The duo then declared themselves co-Divas Champions as Layla defended the belt the next night on Raw successfully against Melina.

The co-Divas Champs then found themselves with a new challenger: Natalya. Having won a battle royal to become #1 Contender, Natalya was unperturbed by Lay-Cool’s antics including mocking her for looking like her father (saying she had a beard) and even dressing up as her. Layla defeated Natalya, successfully defending the Divas Championship at October’s Bragging Rights, but the duo eventually lost the belt to Nattie at Survivor Series.

In November, the Diva duo were memorably humiliated by Mae Young who defeated them in a match at 87-years-old. That moment won Lay-Cool a Slammy for ‘Knucklehead Moment of the Year’.

In December, Lay-Cool made history by being two of four Divas involved in the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match which was won by Natalya and Beth Phoenix, who finally gave Lay-Cool their comeuppance.

It’s safe to say that no two Divas have had quite the visibility of Lay-Cool in the past 12 months. Layla has risen within the Divas division, showing much improvement in the ring and perhaps showing that she is the most charismatic Diva on the entire roster. Her comedic ability second to none, Layla is often the life of Lay-Cool segments. Picking up the Women’s Championship and being considered the last ever Women’s Champ etches Layla’s name in WWE history.

Many have called for Lay-Cool to take a backseat in 2011 and now out of the title picture, perhaps they will. But with no gold in sight, could Lay-Cool implode in the coming year? And if so, can Layla continue to sustain herself as one of the top Divas in the division with her flawless BFF?

Perfect 10 of 2010: Angelina Love (#4)

LAST YEAR: #3 – 2008: #10
When Angelina Love was abruptly released last September due to visa issues, she vowed to return and return she did in January. Since making her comeback, Angelina has gone onto become a record 5-time Knockouts Champion, with three runs in the past 12 months and is now one half of the Knockouts Tag Team Champions also.

It all started in January when Love returned, sitting ringside for a match between The Beautiful People and Hamada & Awesome Kong. She was seen hugging her former cohorts as they made their way down to the ring, but after the match it was a completely different story. Turning babyface, Angelina attacked all three members of the group including her ‘replacement’, Lacey Von Erich. This set in motion a running storyline in the Knockouts division that would last nearly an entire year.

As Angelina’s feud with the beautiful ones, particularly her former BFF Velvet Sky, continued over the coming months, Love found herself back in a familiar spot: the Knockouts Championship picture. Having already held the belt twice in 2009, in April she found herself to be the biggest winner in that infamous Lockbox Showdown when she unlocked the box containing the Knockouts Championship. The reign wouldn’t last long however, as just a couple of weeks later she lost the belt in a ‘Winner Take All’ tag teal steel cage match in which the Knockouts Tag Team Championships were also on the line. In the match, Madison Rayne pinned Love’s tag team partner — the former Knockouts Champ, Tara, costing Love the belt. With tensions already high between Love and Tara, the latter attacked Angelina after the match and we saw the start of a feud between the duo. However, before things could escalate, Angelina suffered a bicep tear during a match with Tara and Madison Rayne putting her on the sidelines for six weeks.

Upon her return, Love focused in once again on the Knockouts Championship and her former friend, Madison Rayne. Vowing to pick apart The Beautiful People one by one, she defeated Lacey Von Erich and Velvet Sky before challenging Madison Rayne to a title match at Victory Road in July. With the stipulation that the belt would change hands via disqualification if either Von Erich or Sky interfered, Love won the Knockouts Championship after a mystery figure (believed by the referee to be one of the two) attacked Love. Once again, however, Love’s reign was cut short as the belt was given back to Madison Rayne the following week on Impact as there was no proof the Mystery Biker Chick was either Sky or Von Erich.

Undettered, Angelina went onto win the Knockouts Championship once again just weeks later defeating Rayne on a special episode of Impact in August and this time, would hold onto the belt for three months.

As tensions rose within the beautiful camp due to Rayne’s alignment with the Mystery Biker Chick, Angelina soon found herself reunited with former BFF, Velvet Sky and the original Beautiful People were back together. With Tara unmasked as the Biker Chick, the Beautiful People did battle with Rayne and Tara for the rights to the ‘Beautiful People’ name and music which they won. Love then defended her Knockouts Title in a four-way match involving Rayne, Sky and Tara at Bound for Glory in October, in which Tara picked up the victory.

Over the final few months of 2010, Love has been involved in a mysterious new storyline with newcomer Winter (former WWE Diva, Katie Lea), who appeared to Love in backstage segments — yet no one else could see her. Telling Love what a big fan she is and telling her that they were destined to be together, Winter saved Angelina from a beatdown at the hands of Sarita on the Thanksgiving episode of Impact.

In December, Love and Sky had qualified for the finals of the Knockouts Tag Team Championship tournament but due to an attack from Sarita, Velvet was unable to compete in the match. With Angelina in a two-on-one situation, Winter ran down to the ring mid-match and de facto became Love’s tag team partner, pinning Madison Rayne to win the Knockouts Tag Team Championships for herself and Love.

From start to finish in 2010, Angelina continued to show that she was TNA’s golden girl and showed no signs of letting up following her four month absence last year. With three runs as Knockouts Champ added to her two runs from last year, and now one half of the current Tag Team Champs, Angelina is perhaps the most decorated Knockout in the division. And going into 2011, the Love train is showing no signs of halting anytime soon.

Perfect 10 of 2010: Tara (#5)

After a career rejuvenation in 2009 when she made the jump from WWE to TNA, 2010 saw Tara with her feet firmly under the table in the TNA Knockouts division. Beginning the year as Knockouts Champion, Tara has gone onto hold the belt on two more occasions during the past 12 months. More importantly, perhaps, is Tara’s relationship with Madison Rayne as the duo have teamed up to dominate the Knockouts division in the last quarter of the year.

After defeating ODB for the Knockouts Championship in December, Tara put her belt on the line on the first Impact of 2010 — losing the title in shock fashion due to ODB cheating. However, she would regain the belt just over a week later, defeating ODB in a ‘best of three’ falls match.

Her longest Knockouts Title reign to date, Tara next found herself in the cross-hairs of the deranged Daffney. The ‘Zombie Hot’ Knockout targeted the Knockouts Champion over several weeks before things came to a head at March’s Destination X pay per view. Tara successfully defended her Knockouts Title in the match but Daffney got the last word, stealing Tara’s pet tarantula, Poison. Their next encounter was a First Blood Match that went all over the Impact Zone. Though Tara once again defeated Daffney, she didn’t get her pet Poison back.

The infamous Lockbox Showdown in April saw Tara lose her Knockouts Championship without even defending it in a match, though she did earn back her petnapped tarantula. This resulted in bad blood between Tara and the new Knockouts Champ, Angelina Love. The pair were forced to team up at LockDown in April, with Tara effectively costing Love the Knockouts Title when she was pinned by Madison Rayne.

In late April, Tara announced that she would be leaving TNA due to contract negotiations stalling over a pay increase. In storyline, she was booked into a ‘Career vs Title’ match against Madison Rayne at May’s Sacrifice pay per view, which she lost. We thought that’d be the last we saw of Tara… but how wrong we were.

Making her return as the Mystery Biker Chick in July, Tara attempted to aid Madison Rayne in her title defense against Angelina Love at the Victory Road pay per view by attacking Love. Instead, the referee spotted the attack and awarded Love the belt by DQ. Aligned with Rayne and hiding under a helmet, Tara was eventually unmasked in September as the Beautiful People imploded. Velvet and Lacey had turned on Rayne, and re-aligned with Angelina Love.

Now a heel and aligned with the woman who ended her career five months back, Tara returned to action and at Bound for Glory she won the Knockouts Championship in a fatal four-way match involving then-champion Angelina Love, Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky with newcomer, Mickie James as special guest referee. The reign didn’t last though. The very next week on Impact, Tara laid down for Rayne — who felt she was responsible for Tara’s comeback & felt Tara should aid her career — allowing her to become the Knockouts Champ.

Despite losing the Knockouts Title, Tara has been front-and-center for the past several months, however, feuding with her fellow former WWE Diva, Mickie James. Claiming that Mickie was one of the reasons she left WWE, Tara had an axe to grind and took every opportunity to grind it. Their brawls backstage, on the ramp-way and in the ring filled weeks of television. Two much-buzzed about pay per view matches at November’s Turning Point and December’s Final Resolution still couldn’t get the job done in settling this bad blood.

It would take a main event steel cage match on Impact to settle the score between Mickie James and Tara. In perhaps the most personal and hard-fought Knockouts bouts of the year, James squared away her rival. Though Tara lost the match, both Knockouts earned the applause of fans and industry peers — Tara particularly for finishing the match with an injured elbow.

Though she took more of a backseat to Madison Rayne this year, and on yet on another two occasions lost the Knockouts Title under less than ideal circumstances, Tara proved to be one of the most consistent Knockouts in TNA. Turning heel for the first time during her TNA run, Tara added new layers to her character — incorporating her love of motorcycles and in recent months, even displaying a more playful ‘cougar’ side. It is perhaps her feud and matches with James that will most be remembered this year though, as she helped reinvigorate the Knockouts division, capturing a buzz about the women in TNA in the same way that Gail Kim and Awesome Kong did some years ago.

What does the future hold for Tara? Perhaps next year she will finally hold the Knockouts Title and not lose it in silly fashion i.e. having her reign cut short, losing it in a Deal or No Deal scenario or by having to lay down. There’s also the possibility of her and partner Madison Rayne becoming the Knockouts Tag Team Champions — or even imploding. Or perhaps both? One thing is for sure: Tara will continue to be one of the centerpieces of the Knockouts division.

Perfect 10 of 2010: Natalya (#6)

2010 was the culmination of a dream for Natalya. Having worked her way through the independents, it’s been a long road to the top for the first ever third generation Diva. Her family lineage has long been touted, she of course is the daughter Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart and niece of Bret Hart. But it was in 2010 that Natalya began creating her own legacy as the first lady of the Hart wrestling dynasty.

Though it was in the last quarter of 2010 that Natalya came to prominence in the Divas division, she has been in the thick of things since the start of the year. With her uncle returning to WWE television for the first time in over a decade, Natalya and the Hart Dynasty (DH Smith and Tyson Kidd) found themselves caught up in an epic WrestleMania-sized storyline as the feud between Bret and WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon unfolded on Monday nights. It all culminated at ‘Mania 26 when Bret scored a sweet victory over Vince. Natalya perhaps scored the best spot of the night for any Diva (and yes, we’re aware there was a Divas match!) as she delivered an almighty slap to the man that writes her checks.

With the Hart Dynasty now babyfaces, the next stop was guiding her team to tag team gold. In April, the Dynasty scored the Unified Tag Team Championships and though Smith and Kidd were the ones technically involved in the matches, Natalya was as much part of the team & as much a champion as her boys. This was never more evident than when we saw the debuts of the Uso brothers and Tamina to Monday nights.

The feud between the Usos & Tamina and the Dynasty spilled over several months and featured six-person tag team matches, including one at Fatal 4-Way in June. Natalya owned the night by scoring the pinfall with her powerful discus clothesline to Tamina.

By September, the Dynasty had lost their Tag Team Championships, causing friction between Smith and Kidd. Meanwhile, Natalya found herself moving on too — she won a Divas battle royal to become the #1 Contender to Lay-Cool’s Divas Championship.

In a feud that spanned four months, Natalya proved unsuccessful against Michelle at Hell in a Cell, and then again against Layla at Bragging Rights. In her final shot at the title, the odds were stacked against the Hart Dynasty Diva as she faced both members of Lay-Cool at Survivor Series. Instead of succumbing to Lay-Cool’s antics, which including making fun of her for having a beard like her legendary father, Natalya overcame her obstacles and realised her dream.

The new Divas Champion added an exclamation point to her golden year, leaping off the turnbuckle and crashing through Lay-Cool and a table to win the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match at TLC in December.

After working hard for years and waiting patiently on the sidelines for her turn, Natalya goes into 2011 as the reigning Divas Champion and adds a new chapter to the already legendary Hart family lineage.

Perfect 10 of 2010: Mickie James (#7)

It’s been a strange year for Mickie James. Beginning the year by winning her fifth Women’s Championship, little did we know that we’d see her as a TNA Knockout by year’s end.

Continuing her feud with Michelle McCool and Layla from the end of 2009, there was heartbreak for Mickie as she had a cake smashed in her face in that infamous ‘Piggie James Going Away Party’ back in January. The powerful segment which aired on SmackDown was without a doubt one of the most compelling Divas segments in quite some time and ran nearly 10 minutes long. James exacted her revenge on McCool at the Royal Rumble, defeating her to win the Women’s Championship and dumped a cake of her own on both members of Lay-Cool.

The Women’s Title reign was cut short, however, after Mickie lost the belt in a rematch thanks to biased special guest referee, Vickie Guerrero.

Mickie briefly disappeared due to a staph infection but that didn’t hold her back as she was part of the 10-Diva tag team match at WrestleMania. Shortly after ‘Mania though, James was shockingly released despite being the most popular Diva in WWE. The move was met with intense backlash, with one fan even calling WWE’s headquarters, threatening to bomb it.

During her downtime, Mickie pursued another passion: singing. Releasing her debut album ‘Strangers & Angels’ earlier this year, Mickie went about establishing herself in a new career-path, while continuing to ply her trade in independent matches with the likes of Mia Yim and Mercedes Martinez.

But the bright lights of national television soon called once again. Mickie James returned to TNA Wrestling in October, making her debut on a live episode of Impact and she hasn’t looked back since.

Getting straight into the thick of things, Mickie has been front-and-center in the Knockouts division since her debut, showing us a new side to her and even helping rejuvenate the division. Her feud with fellow former WWE Diva, Tara, spanned three months and included several knock-down brawls all over the Impact Zone.

In November, James made her pay per view debut in a match with Tara that quickly disseminated into chaos but the kept viewers on the edge of their seats. The following month, it was much of the same as the two brawling Knockouts competed in a Falls Count Anywhere match. After Tara stole the victory with the help of Madison Rayne, there was only one thing for it…

Within the confines of a steel cage, Mickie and Tara headlined Impact in December, putting an end to their extremely physical feud. As James leapt from the top of the cage with a Thesz Press on her rival, it was almost a metaphor for James’ own leap this year. A year of dramatic change, but Mickie certainly landed on her feet and continues to be one of the most popular women in the industry today.

We are guaranteed to see James in the title picture in 2011, as she will cash in her #1 Contendership on the first pay per view of the year in January. It’s almost inevitable that the ‘Hardcore Country’ Knockout will win the gold at some point next year, solidifying her place in history as the first — and only — woman to hold the TNA Knockouts, WWE Divas and WWE Women’s Championships.

Perfect 10 of 2010: Beth Phoenix (#8)

Perhaps the most inspirational Diva of 2010, Beth Phoenix went through hell and back with a grueling 6 months on the shelf due to injury, but you wouldn’t know it when you rack up her accomplishments this year.

In January, the Glamazon became only the second woman to compete in the Royal Rumble match and made quite the impact, eliminating The Great Khali in the 30-man match. Over a decade after Chyna first appeared in the Rumble, Beth Phoenix really did prove to be, in the words of Matt Striker, the 21st Century Femme Fatale with her awe-inspiring appearance.

Beth quickly solidified herself as a babyface on SmackDown, the first time in her WWE career, not counting that brief stint in 2006. Showing signs of being a tweener during the Mickie James/Lay-Cool feud, Phoenix eventually made a complete turn feuding with the dastardly Diva duo after a series of snide comments about her femininity — or if you believe Lay-Cool — lack thereof.

Phoenix, along with Michelle McCool, made history in April, competing in the first ever Extreme Makeover Match in which she was victorious and captured her third Women’s Championship. The era of the Glamazon, it seemed, was upon us but disaster struck as Beth suffered an ACL tear during a match with Rosa Mendes on WWE Superstars. In a moment of heartbreak for her fans, Beth dropped the title in front of a hometown crowd in May, saying goodbye to the WWE Universe for six long months.

Fast forward to November and the Survivor Series and we saw the culmination of six months of intense rehabilitation: the Fabulous Firebird returned in fine form, taking out Lay-Cool following their Divas Championship loss to Natalya. In one of the most picture perfect highlights of 2010, Beth and Natalya embraced as tears streamed — not only from the two Divas, but many a Diva fan too.

In December, Beth made more history by competing in the first ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match, where she and Natalya were victorious.

Despite a lengthy absence, 2010 was quite the Glamtastic year for Beth Phoenix; a successful babyface turn, the Royal Rumble, two ‘first evers’ in her match history and of course, a Women’s Championship run.

2011 will no doubt see Beth strive for a new goal, however. One that she has yet to accomplish: Divas Champion.

Perfect 10 of 2010: Alicia Fox (#9)

After being one of the breakout Divas of 2009 and ranking at #10 last year on the Perfect 10, Alicia Fox moves up a notch in 2010 after finally accomplishing what many felt was inevitable: becoming Divas Champion.

Since she broke away from ECW and debuted on SmackDown and then Raw last year, it seemed the Foxy one was destined for solo stardom in the WWE. Twice in 2009 she came close to the belt, but proved unsuccessful in tussles with Mickie James and Melina. But 2010 saw Alicia win her first Divas Championship back in June, a win that was surprising yet unsurprising at the same time. There was little doubt that Fox would eventually be champion but given that the storyline at the time was Eve vs Maryse, Alicia didn’t seem like a likely winner when she faced off against the aforementioned as well as Gail Kim in a fatal four-way match at the Fatal 4-Way pay per view.

Despite not being in the title picture for the whole year, Fox managed to stay somewhat relevant. She made it to the semi-finals of the Divas Championship tournament before losing to Gail Kim, competed at WrestleMania at March’s end and then as mentioned, went onto become champion. It was during her championship reign that we saw the Foxy one take to the microphone more, establishing herself as a bratty heel champion — which would later be cemented by her feigning injury during a title defense against Eve.

After declaring that she was the top Diva on Raw (and the ‘Undefined Divas Champion’), Alicia’s title reign came crashing down around her thanks to the return of Melina who defeated Fox for the Divas Championship at SummerSlam in August. Again, Fox moved to the background after her time in the spotlight but did manage to keep herself busier than most with multiple matches on Raw and WWE Superstars.

For the past few months, Fox has most been seen on the third season of NXT where we found out she was a ‘hungry piranha’ as she mentored Maxine. Though her Rookie Diva didn’t last long in the competition, Fox saw regular competition with the likes of Kelly Kelly and Naomi.

Despite her star slipping a little since her rise to prominence in 2009, the Divas Title finally came a-knockin’ for the rising Diva, as did a plum spot on NXT, as well as regular matches with the likes of Natalya, Melina and others.

One could suggest that her Divas Championship reign was prematurely ended by the returning Melina. Could she rectify that by becoming a two-time champion in 2011?

Perfect 10 of 2010: Eve Torres (#10)

From Diva Search to Divas Champion, Eve Torres made history by becoming the first ever Diva Search winner to go on to win gold in the WWE. Sure, other finalists like Michelle McCool had won the belts, but never could a winner of the contest claim to be champion — until April of this year.

Voted ‘One to Watch in 2010′ by Diva Dirt’s readers, Eve’s risky move to Raw from SmackDown in last year’s ‘Diva Trade’ had many fans wondering whether her career was over before it begun. The risk was that she’d get lost in the shuffle on a fully-stacked Raw roster compared to SmackDown where she had begun make strides. The beginning of the year was a dreary start: Eve was stuck with Chris Masters and seldom competed in matches. Though she made it to the semi-finals of the Divas Championship tournament, a loss to Maryse meant her chances of making a splash on Raw were dashed.

Little did we know that that semi-final match with Maryse was a foreshadowing of things to come. After competing in more matches on Raw and picking up victories, Eve soon found herself in a title match with Maryse in London, England in April. Considered the underdog going in, Torres pulled out the victory and shocked the WWE Universe by becoming the Divas Champion.

Her continued storyline with Maryse saw the champion knocked out backstage & featured in a ‘photoshoot’ with her rival, one of the year’s Diva highlights on Raw. The Divas Championship victory would see Eve make her singles debut on pay per view in a match with Maryse in which she was victorious. However, two months after claiming the title, she lost it in a fatal four-way match to Alicia Fox.

With her title reign cut short by the Foxy one, Eve then challenged Alicia to her second singles match on pay per view at Money in the Bank in July, a card that also featured a Women’s Championship bout between Layla and Kelly Kelly. Going into the pay per view, it seemed that it would be the SmackDown match that owned the night for the Divas, but it was in fact Alicia and Eve’s battle over the Divas Championship that impressed, despite Eve losing.

Though her time at the top of the Raw Divas division quickly tailed off after that loss, Eve’s historic — and shocking — Divas Championship victory was certainly one of the highlights of the year.

Eve’s rise as one of WWE’s favorite daughters saw her grow more confident in the ring, and a recent in-ring segment with The Miz showed she can cut a promo too. There’s no doubt that Eve’s star will continue to rise in the Divas division in 2011; though she book-ends our chart at #10 this year… I would count on her ranking higher next year.

		ANGELINA LOVE Angelina Love returned to the ring on Impact this week scoring a win over her former team mate, Madison Rayne. But The Beautiful People had the last laugh.
		LAYLA Layla stays in the same spot this week. She helped Michelle McCruel in her public humiliation of Mickie James on SmackDown.
		KELLY KELLY Despite being knocked out of the Divas Title tournament last week, Kelly is undeterred and picked up a win over Jillian on WWE Superstars this week.
		MARIA Maria returned from a brief absence from SmackDown and brought her A-game on SmackDown. Maria’s turn on the mic wowed fans who had seemingly written her off, including us!

		ALICIA FOX The foxy Diva picked up a win over fan favourite, Kelly Kelly on Raw. She now advances to the semi-finals of the Divas Title tournament.

		AWESOME KONG & HAMADA After a hard fought battle, Kongada took the Knockouts Tag Team Championships on Monday’s live 3-hour episode of Impact. It looks like the start of a lengthy reign for the duo.
		ODB ODB once again became the Knockouts Champion at TNA’s live three hour Impact, defeating Tara. The former champion is still hot on her heels though.
		MARYSE Continuing her winning streak from last week, Maryse defeated Brie Bella to become the first Diva to advance in the Divas Title tournament.
		BETH PHOENIX The Glamazon has been on a dominating streak on SmackDown showing the other Divas who’s boss and a win over Layla showed that this week. She may want to watch out for Mickie’s kick though.
		GAIL KIM Gail Kim scored a big win over Jillian on WWE Superstars and secured herself a spot in the next round of the Divas Championship tournament in a lengthy bout.
		SARITA & TAYLOR WILDE Saritaylor’s long reign as the first ever Knockouts Tag Team Champions came to an end on Monday night but they didn’t give up without a fight in their best tag bout so far.
		LAYLA Despite taking a beating from the Glamazon, Layla proved to be as entertaining as she is beautiful on this past week’s SmackDown, showing off her comedy chops and charisma.
		MICKIE JAMES The feisty SmackDown Diva helped clear house on Friday night and asserted her own dominance, kicking the mighty Beth Phoenix straight to the canvas.
		TARA Spare a thought for Tara, her second Knockouts Championship reign came to a shocking end on Monday’s live Impact. But she got the last laugh by hitting the Widow’s Peak on ODB.
		MICHELLE MCCOOL They may be called ‘Team Lay-Cool’ but there’s no kidding ourselves in who leads the duo. Michelle McCool directed traffic on SmackDown and arguably, led her lamb [Layla] to slaughter.

It was too close to pick between our #1 picks in 2009′s Perfect 10. It is befitting that we have a tie for the #1 spot on this year’s Perfect 10 as Melina and Michelle McCool’s year, for the most part, has been synonymous with each other. Their long, arduous feud on SmackDown aided the brand to one of it’s best years of Divas action in some time, while they delivered two noteworthy pay per view matches. The duo end the year as champions, Melina holding the Divas Title and Michelle McCool with the Women’s Title.

For Melina, the year began on the Raw brand in a feud with Beth Phoenix. Melina had been in the middle of a storybook comeback after returning from injury last November. Her story culminated in her earning her third reign as Women’s Champion at January’s Royal Rumble and overcoming The Glamazon, Beth Phoenix.

After defeating Beth in a rematch, Melina entered into a brief feud with SmackDown’s Divas Champion, Maryse in the lead up to WrestleMania. Melina was handed a loss by Maryse.

In April, Melina was moved to SmackDown in the annual Draft where she began her rivalry with our dual #1…

Michelle McCool’s year began with transition, on the final SmackDown of 2008, Michelle had cemented her heel turn by attacking fan favourite Maria after losing the Divas Championship. Michelle’s heel turn saw her attack Maria, Eve Torres and Victoria in successive weeks. In January, Michelle had the honour of competing in Victoria’s final match as she retired from the company. Her feud with Maria continued with the now-Diva of the Year defeating McCool in a grudge match with help from Torres.

After disposing of Maria, Michelle turned her attention to her former rival, the woman who took her Divas Championship — Maryse. The pair battled for the belt on SmackDown in March, being interrupted by a returning Gail Kim.

Post-WrestleMania with Meina now on SmackDown, their paths began to cross leading to a long-term feud. In their first encounter at The Bash, Michelle made history be defeating Melina to become the new Women’s Champion, thus making her the first woman to hold the Divas and Women’s Championships. A month later, the pair faced off again in the fan favourite match at Night of Champions with McCool once again coming out on top.

In the fall, Melina beat Michelle McCool in a non-title match, granting her a shot at Michelle for the title. On the 10th anniversary episode of SmackDown, McCool once again defeated Melina in their third championship bout.

The Diva Trade of October 2009 put an end to the 6 month feud as Melina was traded to Raw. Upon her debut, she won the Divas Championship within minutes defeating Jillian. Melina became the third woman in history to hold both belts and the first to win both in the same year. Melina successfully defended her title against the likes of Jillian and Alicia Fox before pinning her former rival, McCool, one last time at Survivor Series in a traditional elimination match where she and Mickie James were crowned sole survivors.

Meanwhile, the loss of Melina on SmackDown lead to the arrival of Mickie James. McCool instantly found herself in a feud with four-time Women’s Champion. Aligning herself with Layla, McCool began taunting Mickie threatening to make her life a living hell. The duo eventually began taunting Mickie over her weight, referring to her as ‘Piggie James’. Mickie exacted revenge on Michelle by earning a Women’s Championship shot and challenging Michelle to a match at TLC. McCool, however picked up the win and continued her lengthy reign on top.

2009 has been an extremely impressive year for both Melina and Michelle McCool who have managed to stay in the spotlight and in the focus of the main Diva storylines for all of the past 12 months. For Melina, she has spent equal time on both Raw and SmackDown and celebrated two championship reigns. Meanwhile, Michelle continues to rule over SmackDown and her history making title win has led to one of the lengthiest Women’s Championship reigns in some time. Both Divas have shown consistency in the ring despite nagging injuries and have put on some of the best Divas matches of the year on both television and pay per view. 2009 has truly been their year.

Perfect 10 of 2009: Tara (#2)

When Victoria retired from WWE mid-January, Diva fans mourned the departure of the final connection between the current era of Divas and the last, which is often considered the best. Victoria was a celebrated two-time Women’s Champion and Diva veteran. After taking a loss from Michelle McCool in her final match, we thought that’d be the last time we’d see of her in active competition, assuming she’d go the way of her fellow ‘golden era’ gals, Trish, Lita, Torrie, Molly etc. — moving onto things outside of wrestling.

Little did we know that Victoria’s WWE departure early in the year which seemed to be the end of her run, was actually just the beginning of her year. In May 2009, Victoria became Tara and joined the opposition — TNA for another stab at glory. After being wasted in her final years in WWE, Tara took control of her career and opted to go somewhere she felt she could once again be challenged by wrestling. The move rejuvenated her career and helped rejuvenate a Knockouts division that needed a leader after Gail Kim defected to WWE.

The veteran came into TNA ready to make an impact and chose then-Knockouts Champion, Angelina Love and her Beautiful People partners as the platform to do it. Interrupting Love’s post-match speech on an episode of Impact where she talked about new competition, Tara arrived in one of the year’s most memorable moments. In grandiose fashion, Tara took out all three members of The Beautiful People and set her sights firmly on Angelina Love and her Knockouts Championship.

Despite losing her initial title match at Slammiversary, just weeks later on Impact, Tara won her first championship in five years. The risky career change had paid off. However just 10 days later, the belt was dropped back to Angelina but even without the title, Tara stood as a firm favourite in the Knockouts division. Her next big challenge was one Awesome Kong, the fiercest Knockout in all the land. The pair’s feud led to a Knockouts Championship match featuring ODB at Bound for Glory before Tara defeated Kong in a Six Sides of Steel grudge match at Turning Point.

In November, having defeated the monster Kong, Tara turned her attention once again to the Knockouts Championship and it’s new holder, ODB. After showing signs of an attitude change, ODB teased Tara on her Diva past which only fuelled Tara’s aggression until she became the new Knockouts Champion at December’s Final Resolution, just days before Christmas.

It’s been a storybook year for Tara; rather than accepting her WWE circumstance and retiring from the business, Tara knew she had more to offer and is now enjoying perhaps the biggest comeback of any Diva/Knockout. With two reigns as Knockouts Champion already notched up, Tara will usher in the New Year as champion and the top Knockout in her division. What more could a girl ask for?

Perfect 10 of 2009: Angelina Love (#3)

She may not be seeing out the year as a TNA Knockout, but her electrifying eight month run in TNA is undeniable. Angelina Love, in 2009, rose to the top of the Knockouts division and proved to be a modern day total package. With the looks & wrestling ability already in place, it is Love’s charisma that really put her on the map and by many, she was considered not only one of the best heels in the women’s division but one of the best heels in TNA, period.

The Beautiful People’s prominence came into full effect this year, as they overtook the top heel role of sorts from Knockouts Champion, Awesome Kong. Their entertaining feud with Roxxi, Taylor Wilde and ‘The Governor’ [Daffney] at the beginning of the year saw them add a new face to the group — Madison Rayne.

By April, Angelina Love had become a star in her own right and followed by her TBP teammates, she won the Knockouts Championship in a triple threat match at Lockdown against Awesome Kong & Taylor Wilde. The moment had been months in the making for many fans and the culmination of a dream for Angelina. With the Knockouts Title firmly around her waist, this only added even more fuel to her already dynamic character. Love defended her Knockouts Championship in May against the former champion and the other top heel in the division, Awesome Kong, who had already picked apart the other members of The Beautiful People. Love retained the belt and then found herself challenged by a newcomer — the veteran Tara.

After successfully defended the Knockouts Championship against the former WWE Diva at Slammiversary, Love then lost the belt some weeks later on Impact before regaining it just 10 days later at Victory Road in July. This marked Love’s second title reign and along with her fellow Beautiful People, she entered into a feud with ODB and Cody Deaner. Love controversially lost her title at August’s Against All Odds in a tag team match with the duo.

Shortly after, TNA announced a Knockouts Tag Team Championship tournament with Angelina & Velvet, the company’s first Knockouts stable, becoming firm favourites to become the first champions. The duo made it all the way to the final until Love was released in early September 2009.

Despite being inactive in TNA for the final four months of 2009, Angelina Love’s accomplishments in the past year have made her a commodity to the company even in absence. With fans eagerly anticipating her return and rumours that it may happen in early 2010, Love should have no problem picking up where she left off.

Perfect 10 of 2009: Mickie James (#4)

Mickie James became part of an elite band of Divas in 2009, when she along with two other Divas became the first women to hold both the Divas and Women’s Championships.

The fan favourite began the year on the sidelines as the returning Melina had the spotlight on her. However, Mickie, who had been in a quasi-feud with Layla and William Regal, saw action too, teaming with CM Punk against the aforementioned. Heading into WrestleMania, Mickie defeated Santino in an intergender match.

It was post-WrestleMania that Mickie’s luck picked up however, as the 2009 Draft saw Maryse, the Divas Champion, move to Monday Night Raw. And with Melina traded to SmackDown, Mickie was once again the top babyface of the show. In one of her first outings on Raw, Mickie handed the Divas Champ a loss and put herself directly into title contention.

The feud between the Divas lasted through the spring and early summer months with numerous tag team matches and battle royals. Mickie won a #1 Contenders four-way match and earned a shot at Maryse’s Divas Title at Night of Champions. The feud took a turn just before the event, when in an interview, Maryse came out attacked Mickie with hairspray to the eyes. Mickie exacted her revenge six days later however, when she defeated Maryse for Divas Championship — making her the second woman in history to hold both belts.

After her loss, Maryse disappeared off television while Mickie’s reign as Divas Champ began. Over the next few months, Mickie successfully defended her belt in matches on Raw against Gail Kim and Beth Phoenix. Mickie then faced a brash new Raw upstart — Alicia Fox. Their brief feud led to a Divas Championship match at October’s Hell in a Cell pay per view.

Shockingly just a week later, Mickie lost her Divas Title on Raw in a match against Jillian. Mickie was subsequently traded to SmackDown for the first time in her career after four years on Raw.

As part of SmackDown, Mickie has seen competition against the likes of Layla, Beth Phoenix and Natalya and entered into a feud with the brand’s Women’s Champion, Michelle McCool. The rivalry turned personal as Michelle and Layla taunted Mickie, calling her ‘Piggie James’. At November’s Survivor Series, Mickie led a team of five Divas against Michelle McCool’s team — Mickie, with assistance from Melina, picked up the win. A month later, Mickie challenged Michelle for the Women’s Title at TLC. After a hard fought battle however, she failed to win the belt.

Mickie’s career changing move to SmackDown in October has seen her career somewhat rejuvenated. With lengthier matches and juicy storylines, Mickie has had a jam packed end to 2009. And going forward to 2010, the possibilities seem endless for the 4-time Women’s Champion.

Perfect 10 of 2009: ODB (#5)

In 2009, ODB developed her character far enough along to be considered a serious title challenger. The year and a portion prior, she had received title shots and been given pushes but never to the same degree as she was this year. By year’s end, ODB was one of three women to have held the Knockouts Championship for not only the first time, but a second time too.

Her first accomplishment came when she earned a Knockouts Title match against Awesome Kong in February, a rematch of the exact same match at the exact same event a year prior.

In February, she began a ‘fan contest’ called “Win a Date with ODB” which was eventually won in March by one Cody Deaner. The relationship reinforced the slapstick humour that ODB had become known for. With Deaner by her side, ODB found herself in title contention in the summer and in August, she and Deaner defeated The Beautiful People in a tag team match for the gold. After the match however, Deaner took the title — ending his relationship with ODB. The title was held up on the next episode of Impact with the two battling at September’s pay per view, No Surrender for the belt. ODB earned the title once more.

Going into the company’s biggest pay per view of the year, Bound for Glory, ODB found herself in a feud with Awesome Kong & Tara but successfully defended her belt against them.

Nearing the end of the year, the Knockouts Champion had shown a darker side to herself. After Tara became the #1 Contender for the Knockouts Title, the once fan favourite changed her stripes and entered into a bitter rivalry with the former Diva. The two eventually battled for the belt in December with Tara defeating ODB for the title.

It’s been an eventful 2009 for the Knockout. Now established as a top title contender in the Knockouts division, 2010 seems like it will be getting off to a bang for ODB.

Perfect 10 of 2009: Taylor Wilde (#6)

What a year it has been for Taylor Wilde! Despite being introduced in 2008 with a big push, it was in 2009 that Taylor Wilde came into her own as a major asset to the Knockouts division. Her extensive resume in 2009 has included a Six Sides of Steel match, a ladder match, a Monster’s Ball match and a 10,000 Tacks match.

Beginning the year in a feud with The Beautiful People, Taylor Wilde and Roxxi fooled the then-duo into believing one Daffney was Sarah Palin, who later became known as ‘The Governor’. The feud led to The Gov, Taylor and Roxxi defeated a now trio of Beautiful People in a 3-on-3 match at March’s Destination X. Taylor then continued her feud with Angelina Love in a triple threat match for the Knockouts Title at Lockdown.

But it was spring through summer that Taylor had possibly one of the best Knockout feuds of the year — with The Governor, now unveiled Daffney. The twisted Knockout targeted Taylor and their feud led to a Monster’s Ball match at June’s Slammiversary followed by a 10,000 Tacks match just a few days later.

In August, Taylor was teamed up with Sarita [this year's #9] in a one-off match. However after the chemistry that two shared, they were immediately put together into a team and went onto win the first ever Knockouts Tag Team Championship. The win made Taylor the first woman in history to hold both the Knockouts and Knockouts Tag Team Titles in TNA.

Taylor has had one hell of a year and is perhaps the dark horse of the Knockouts division. Her feuds this year haven’t necessarily been the main focus of the Knockouts division but she’s given her all into all that she’s been given.

Perfect 10 of 2009: Maryse (#7)

Winning the Divas Championship in the closing moments of 2008, Maryse entered 2009 with her first title reign — and a momentous one at that. Her quick rise from in-ring newcomer to ‘main event’ level talent [as far as Divas go] was unprecedented. 2009 however, has been both a year of success and sorrow for Maryse. Just one night after her big title victory aired, she blew out her knee and spent the early months of 2009 injured.

Returning to the ring in late February, Maryse was back just in time for WrestleMania and continued her feud with Michelle McCool even though they were both now heel. Just weeks before ‘Mania, Maryse then began a short-lived interpromotional feud with Raw’s Women’s Champion, Melina and then the returning Gail Kim.

The Draft of April 2009 saw Maryse and the Divas Title move homes to Raw where she immediately struck a nerve with the brand’s resident top Diva, Mickie James. The long on-off feud was continuously prolonged until finally, the two faced off for the Divas Title at Night of Champions in July. Maryse lost her belt and disappeared off television for several months. Her previous knee injury hadn’t fully healed and the now former Divas Champ opted for surgery.

Returning in rather grandiose fashion the night after Survivor Series, Maryse ‘hatched’ from a Gobbledy Gooker outfit and attacked the current Divas Champion, Melina. Since then, Maryse has begun finding her feet back in the ring and back on Raw, while brewing a feud for the gold she once held.

Despite being absent for some of 2009, Maryse has been kept at the forefront of all things Diva in the time that she has been active. All of her interaction this year has involved the Divas Title, for which she holds the record for the longest reign thus far. Going into 2010, it looks as though Maryse may become the first multi-time Divas Champion.

Perfect 10 of 2009: Awesome Kong (#8)

Going in to 2009, Awesome Kong had everything in her favour — with an amazing 2008 behind her, the Knockouts Championship in her grasp and the formation of her very own faction.

Beginning the year in a feud with Christy Hemme, Kong was due to defend her Knockouts Title against the former Diva Search winner at the January pay per view but a neck injury cut the rivalry short. Then, Kong turned her attention to ODB and Sojo Bolt, whom she made quick work of. Her biggest challenge came next — the eager and hungry Angelina Love and her fellow Beautiful People. The trio had left Kong irate, cutting her hair just days before a triple threat match inside the Six Sides of Steel. At April’s Lockdown, Angelina Love took the title from Kong after defeating her and Taylor Wilde.

After her loss, it seemed as though Kong would show signs of turning babyface, or at least becoming a tweener by teaming up with several babyfaces in her battles against The Beautiful People. However by the summer, Kong and Tara came to blows and continued their rivalry with a series of run-ins and attacks through October’s Bound for Glory pay per view where they were both featured in a title match with ODB. Around this time, Kong and manager Raisha Saeed began having issues resulting in Kong powerbombing Saeed off the side of the stage, effectively writing out that character.

Kong’s feud with Tara then culminated at November’s Turning Point in a Six Sides of Steel grudge match. Tara won the battle and the war.

Despite notable feuds with Angelina Love and Tara, 2009 was a fairly soft year for Kong, a Knockout who dominated the division in 2008. Will 2010 be a return to form?

Perfect 10 of 2009: Sarita (#9)

The second entry on this year’s year-end Perfect 10 is another newcomer — TNA Knockout, Sarita. They say great things come in small packages and Sarita is like pocket dynamite. Like many wrestling greats, Sarita — real name Sarah Stock — hails from Canada but has spent much of her career in Mexico where she picked up the art of lucha libre and has identified herself as an aerial assaulting, high flying badass.

Joining TNA in April, there was some serious buzz around this girl. There was talk that she would be pushed as the Knockouts division’s new top babyface — filling the spot left behind by Gail Kim. In an unlucky coincidence for Sarita, former WWE Diva Victoria was signed a month or so later and was eventually given the spot. But still, Sarita’s debut on Impact was much hyped with weeks of video packages leading to her debut match in July against fellow newcomer, Alissa Flash. The match was well acclaimed by fans and critics alike.

In August, Sarita was thrown together in a tag team match with former Knockouts Champion, Taylor Wilde against Flash and Traci Brooks. Again, the chance teaming of the two was much praised and led to TNA management putting them together permanently — Saritaylor was born!

The duo became the first ever Knockouts Tag Team Champions in September after making it to the finals of a tournament to determine the inaugual champions. In the months since, Sarita and Taylor have staved off competition from The Beautiful People in several pay per view matches. Meanwhile, Sarita has also shown her own individual prowess in matches with the likes of Alissa Flash again in November, as well as Hamada.

The talented Knockout was perhaps the most successful of a slew of new girls brought in by TNA in ’09. Where the others have fallen by the wayside due to TNA not giving them much to do, Sarita quickly found her feet with tag team partner, Taylor Wilde. The champions look to go into 2010 with the titles firmly around their waist but if Sarita’s singles matches are anything to go by, she could have a good shot at the Knockouts Title too.

Perfect 10 of 2009: Alicia Fox (#10)

We kick off the Perfect 10 of 2009 with a rising new Diva who exploded onto the scene in 2009. Her turn as Vickie Guerrero’s wedding planner last year is but a distant memory as now she has emerged as one of the brighest young prospects in the land of Diva.

Alicia started the year on ECW, as a manager/part time wrestler, teamed with the short-lived DJ Gabriel. Showing us early on what she could do, Alicia looked impressive in early matches on ECW against Katie Lea and Natalya. However her big break came when she was moved to SmackDown in the supplemental draft of April.

Quickly aligned with the brand’s top heel Michelle McCool, Alicia worked a memorable series of matches with Women’s Champion, Melina and aided her her mentor in a Women’s Championship victory at The Bash in June. The very next night however, the bright lights of singles stardom shone on Alicia as she was moved in a 15 Superstar trade to Monday Night Raw with Gail Kim.

Fox quickly found her feet on Raw with two wins over the then Divas Champion, Mickie James and before she knew it, Alicia had found herself with a Divas Championship match against the veteran at October’s Hell in a Cell pay per view. Despite a solid outing, Fox was unsuccessful in her attempt however the next month, she earned her second title opportunity in as many months — this time facing new Divas Champ, Melina in front a capacity crowd at Madison Square Garden.

For a woman who started out the year as ECW’S ‘tiny dancer’, Fox has proven to be a welcome addition to the Divas roster, gaining praise from Melina and Diva legend, Trish Stratus. With her emergence this year, can she continue to shine in 2010?

		TARA The incoming former Victoria has made quite an impact on the Knockouts division and is already the #1 Contender. She skyrockets to #1 on our chart too.
		MICHELLE MCCOOL Michelle McCool has her eyes set on the Women’s Champion, Melina and did a great job of distracting her to a loss on Friday night.
		MARYSE Maryse has finally scored a victory on her new home of Monday Night Raw. The Divas Champion has two rivals hot on her trail, Mickie and Kelly.
		LAYLA Layla picked up the biggest win of her entire WWE career, with a victory over Women’s Champion, Melina.
		ALICIA FOX Michelle’s protege was on the right side of the action this week, as the fledgling Diva teamed with McCool and Layla in a winning performance.
		DAFFNEY Knockout Daffney picked up quite the victory, over former Knockouts Champion, Taylor Wilde on Impact.
		MELINA Not a great win for the Women’s Champion, after a few weeks of wins on SmackDown she was finally pinned by Layla this week.

		AWESOME KONG Two weeks at #1 for Kong, as SpikeTV threw out it’s man-woman violence policy to allow her to beat up Kip James. And really, who’s going to say no to Kong?
		MICKIE JAMES Mickie James has a renewed focus: the Divas Championship. For the second straight week, Mickie has Maryse’s number.
		KELLY KELLY Kelly can boast another tag team victory, after teaming with Mickie on Raw. She may want to watch her timing with the ring ropes, though.
		EVE TORRES It’s down a spot for Eve this week who has been getting more screen time than ever. She instigated a catfight with rival, Layla and it was good!
		MELINA Crashing straight into the Perfect 10 at #5 is the Women’s Champion, Melina. What an impact she made on her return to Friday Night SmackDown.
		MICHELLE MCCOOL A bad week for Michelle McCool, as she and ally, Alicia Fox were handed a loss at the hands of Melina and Gail Kim.
		GAIL KIM Last week she was on a lifeline, but this week she jets up the chart! Gail Kim’s performance on SmackDown scores her the #7 spot.

		AWESOME KONG The dominant Awesome Kong finally gets her wish, she’ll face Angelina Love at Sacrifice but decimated teammate, Velvet Sky on Impact.
		MICHELLE MCCOOL Michelle continued to climb the ranks, with a singles victory over Gail which should put her in title contention for Melina’s Women’s Championship.
		EVE TORRES Eve scored another win over Layla but it’s merely a technicality, Layla had Eve’s number again.
		MICKIE JAMES Oh Mickie, you’re so fine… you certainly blew Maryse’s mind. Mickie scored a huge non-title victory over the Divas Champion.
		KELLY KELLY A big win for the youngest WWE Diva ever, Kelly hit her very cool K2 on Rosa for a victory on WWE Superstars.
		ALICIA FOX Staying put on the P10 is Alicia Fox, who seems to have made an unlikely alliance with Michelle McCool. Not bad, tagging onto the first ever Divas Champion.
		MARYSE The Divas Champion’s move to Raw hasn’t gotten off to a great start, Maryse met Mickie on Raw and Mickie made a lasting first impression.
		ANGELINA LOVE Oh how the mighty fall. Like Blair Waldorf, someone’s jonesing to knock Ang off her perch but Blair doesn’t have an angry 300lb Knockout after her…
		LAYLA Layla continues to show her catty side, that’s two weeks in a row now that she’s laid out Eve Torres. Miaow!
		GAIL KIM Gail continues to decline down the Perfect 10 and now she’s clinging on at #10. Can she come back next week?

		RAW DIVAS An honourable mention here for victorious Raw Divas, Brie Bella, Kelly Kelly and Mickie James who scored a victory in an 8 Diva tag team match.
		LAYLA Making her P10 debut is new SmackDown Diva, Layla. The London native sizzled in a Brooklyn Break-Down dance-off and put Eve on guard.
		GAIL KIM Gail’s losing streak continued this week, when she was pinned by first ever Divas Champ, Michelle McCool on Superstars!
		EVE TORRES Eve won a unique dance-off on SmackDown, when Cryme Tyme pit her against Layla in a Brooklyn Break-Down!
		ALICIA FOX Now part of the SmackDown roster, newly turned heel, Fox was on the winning team on WGN’s WWE Superstars.
		MICHELLE MCCOOL Michelle crawls up the chart after an impressive tag team victory on WWE Superstars, McCool pinned rival Gail Kim.
		AWESOME KONG Kong used all her power moves to send a message to the Beautiful People through Madison Rayne in the first ever Knockouts stretcher match.
		MARYSE Making her Raw debut this week, it wasn’t good news for Maryse as she was on the losing team of an 8 Diva tag.
		MELINA It’s a case of ‘good thing you didn’t appear’ for Melina, as she wasn’t on TV this week but Maryse’s loss is her gain.
		ANGELINA LOVE Still at the top of the P10 is Knockout Champion, Angelina Love! Someone warn her though because it looks like Kong is hot on her trail.

		BETH PHOENIX A non-mover this week is the Glamazon, who failed to capture the Women’s Championship from longtime rival Melina on Raw.
		NATALYA Two losses in one week is more than the average for a WWE Diva. Natalya’s turn as an ECW star isn’t getting off to a good start.
		MICHELLE MCCOOL A huge drop for last week’s #2, as Michelle didn’t even appear on television this week. That didn’t stop McCool from blogging on WWEUniverse.com though!
		AWESOME KONG Kong’s Knockout Championship reign finally came to an end at Lockdown last Sunday. However, new champion Angelina Love better watch out!
		GAIL KIM Last week’s #1 falls down the chart as she failed to measure up in her first championship opportunity on SmackDown.
		ODB All hail your Queen of the Cage! ODB defeated three other Knockouts for the crown inside a steel cage at Lockdown.
		SOJO BOLT Sojo Bolt competed – and won – only the second Knockouts ladder match in TNA history. She now earns a title opportunity!
		MELINA The exiting Women’s Champion scored a huge win on Raw, beating Beth Phoenix to retain her title.
		MARYSE Ooh oui! In her final SmackDown appearance, Maryse left with a bang, retaining her Divas Championship against Gail Kim.
		ANGELINA LOVE Your new Knockout Champion takes the top spot this week. Ang’s years of hard work finally paid off at Lockdown. Congratulations, Angelina!

		ALICIA FOX Holy upgrade, Batman! Alicia got great news, moving up in the WWE ranks from ECW to SmackDown.
		MELINA Melina became the first Diva to be drafted in this year’s WWE Draft, making history as she takes the Women’s Championship to SmackDown.
		NATALYA Her team scored a victory for SmackDown on Raw but just days later, she was officially united with boyfriend Tyson Kidd on ECW.
		MARYSE There was good and bad news for Maryse. She’ll be taking her Divas Championship to Raw but was beaten by Gail Kim on the way out.
		DAFFNEY Teaming up with Abyss certainly helps, but Daffney scored a big tag victory over ODB and Cody Deaner.
		AWESOME KONG Kong beat one of her Lockdown opponents on Impact but was sent over the edge when she had her locks cut. Will it put her off her game tonight?
		THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE Despite a team loss, the blondes decimated Raisha Saeed, Taylor Wilde and sent the ultimate message to Knockout Champion, Awesome Kong.
		MICHELLE MCCOOL SmackDown mainstay, Michelle McCool scored a huge win and a draft pick for her brand on Raw, when she pinned Mickie James.
		GAIL KIM Gail’s blazing winning streak continued with a non-title victory over the Divas Champion, one week after her win over the previous champ.
