Detailed Results & Pictures from ACW Queen of Queens Tournament

This past weekend, Anarchy Championship Wrestling held its annual Queen of Queens tournament, including the likes of Serena, Mia Yim and ACW mainstays Rachel Summerlyn and Athena.

Diva Dirt regular, Brandon, was in attendance and sent in results and thoughts from the show. Check them out below:

Anarchy Championship Wrestling (ACW) has been a well-growing wrestling promotion that the viewers from not only in the state of Texas, but in the entire world. Fans come from all over the U.S. to see what they get their money’s worth in the first place, good, intense, pure wrestling from the Anarchist. One show in particular is what got fans attach to ACW more than any other show – The American Joshis Queen of Queens Tournament. ACW has had big successes over the course of their existence, including dream matches that people cannot get elsewhere, and mostly the MOST VIOLENT matches a fan would seek their teeth into. But the biggest success (to me and everybody else) that makes ACW for what is a strong promotion in the United States – THEIR WOMEN.

ACW is one of the promotions that is mostly male-dominated, to have a strong, pound for pound women’s division, a division that is 100% contradictory to what you see on TV now a days. These girls aren’t look upon as women wrestlers; they are looked upon as WRESTLERS. In other words, they are treated as equals to the males in the ring, and willing to get in the ring with the best of the men. The division started in 2007 with two individuals, Rachel Summerlyn and Mickie Knuckles. Both women known for their Deathmatches; they go through thumbtacks and broken glass to see who the better woman is. Summerlyn then moved on from Knuckles, and feuded with other wrestlers like Andy Dalton (and her brutal Deathmatch with him in 2008, which I recommend watching) and Daffney. To fast forward to today, other women have stepped up to contribute to the American Joshi era in ACW: Jessica James/Lady Poison, Athena, Amanda Fox, Lillie Mae, and others. Even big names in women’s wrestling help contribute to this division as well: Sara Del Rey, Daizee Haze, MsChif, Portia Perez, Serena Deeb, etc. And for one night of every year, ACW grants the girls a one-night tournament to not only show who the best woman of thee night is, but to honor the sport that is of women’s wrestling in the Queen of Queens Tournament. And this year’s Queen of Queens is no different from the past Queen of Queens.

The 3rd Annual American Joshi Queen of Queens kicked off with ACW ring announcer Barry Stewart calling out the 8 participants in this years Queen of Queens – Rachel Summerlyn, Amanda Fox, Lillie Mae, Mia Yim, Athena, Christina Von Eerie, Serena Deeb (who came face to face with Amanda Fox), and last years (2010) Queen of Queens winner Portia Perez. Portia’s entrance was delayed until she appeared in street clothes and a wrench, and Super Electro with her. Perez has now evolved into a creepier, vindictive, gloomy, and possessed individual than ever before. No more Canadian Ninja in ACW. As the Joshis line up for a photo op, Portia immediately struck Lillie Mae in the nose with that wrench she carried, which stated a brief brawl with the Joshis until Anarchists (ACW wrestlers) separated Perez from the girls. After things all got settled, everybody left the ring, except Portia Perez and Mia Yim, which triggered the start of 2011 Queen of Queens Tournament.

1. 1st Round Match – Mia Yim vs. Portia Perez

Winner via submission with Crossface – Portia Perez. A decent opening match. Mia Yim looks stunning in person. She impressed in her Texas debut. Just wish she did more in this match. Yim almost got the win with a guillotine submission. But as soon as Yim attempted a high risk move off the top rope, Perez structed her in the stomach with the wrench, with triggered Perez for her Crossface for the win, and advance to the semi-finals, eliminating the Blaisian Barbie (BTW Diva-Dirt, did you forget to tell Mia that ACW is a No Barbie Zone? Just saying…I digress.)

2. 1st Round Match – ACW Tag Team Champion Rachel Summerlyn vs. Christina Von Eerie

Winner via Gory Bomb – Rachel Summerlyn. A brutal back and forth match between these two, mostly taken to the floor outside the ring. Things got technical in the beginning (along with Chirstina’s “OI!” chants), then things got brutal. Moments in the match include when Von Eerie poured beer on Summerlyn, and also Von Eerie and Summerlyn brought chairs, sat down and had a strike out with each other. Christina is very over with the crowd, and fits the ACW mold very well.

The next match was suppose to be Athena vs. Lillie Mae, but due to the wrench strike in the nose Portia Perez gave Lillie at the top of the show, see was pulled from the tournament. (Damn you, Portia Perez). Athena came out for her match (sporting new orange gear, and a new “Team Athena” T-Shirt), then ACW founder Darin Childs came out to let the Wrestling Goddess know that Athena will then face Angel Blue in the first round match.

3. 1st Round Match – “The Wrestling Goddess” Athena vs. Angel Blue

Winner via Top Rope Double Knees – Athena. This match was pretty much one-sided, in favor of Athena. Angel Blue had an OK showing, but not enough to put away the Goddess of Wrestling. Athena’s athleticism…need I say more?

Next up is the most hyped up match in the tournament:

4. 1st Round Match – “Five-Star” Amanda Fox vs. Serena Deeb

Amanda wasted no time making a statement in the Joshi Division, by pinning Serena in the 6 Joshi Scramble at the December show last year. Since then Fox declared herself to be Serena Deeb’s worst nightmare. Let’s see if the 19-year-old an pull it the second time, or will Serena take Fox to school in wrestling.

Beginning of the match Amanda spat on Serena, which triggered a chase off. Then Highroller Hayze showed up to defend Fox. Things got extremely technical when the girls got back in.

Winner via roll-up – Amanda Fox. I can sum this match up in five words – MATCH OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE! Words can’t describe who awesome this match is. The stuff this 19-year-old can do is mind boggling, that you got to see it to believe it. Fox took a vicious spear from Serena on the turnbuckle steel corner from the top ring apron. All I can say is Amanda Fox solidified herself as a “ONE TO WATCH”.

After the match, Serena cut a promo, stating that though Amanda got the win, she made a huge mistake messing with her, and that she will be back to ACW, and make Amanda Fox’s night for the worse.

The tournament takes a break for now, which leads to Barry introducing someone he is happy to see again – DAFFNEY!!

Fans popped big for her, as I did as well. Daff got on the mic stating that it is good to be home. But had a huge problem with a certain someone that has recently been disrespecting the women of the Joshi division. That person was JT Lamotta. She asked for Lamotta to get down to the ring and confront her. Lamotta comes down to the ring, has some verbal words for Daffney and the other Joshis he faced, but Daffney isn’t scared of him and found one person that can take him on – ACW American Joshi Champion Lady Poison! OOOHHHH, IT’S ON NOW!!!!

5. Non-Tournament Match – ACW American Joshi Champion Lady Poison vs. “The Mind of Wrestling” JT Lamotta

Winner via Poison Kiss – Lady Poison. After the match, Poison and Daffney hugged and left the ring. JT is a fool for messing with the Joshis. Great match between the two. Lady Poison is one creepy individual.

Next up is the semi-finals of the Queen of Queens Tournament.

6. Semi-Final Match – Rachel Summerlyn vs. Portia Perez

Winner via submission with the Texas Cloverleaf – Rachel Summerlyn. The match was very psychological. Both girls came out, with no smile for Summerlyn, and these two went back and forth. Very slow and methodical these two where. Two shocking moments in this match – 1.) Rachel busting out a springboard moonsault, and my jaw dropped. Though she missed, it looked beautiful. Perez landed two Superkicks to Summerlyn, but Rachel kicked out. Now for number 2.) As Portia went for the wrench, Super Electro came in and posted his foot on the wrench, only to then unmask himself to be ROBERT EVANS! Fans popped big for his special appereance. For those who don’t know the ACW storyline, Evans and Perez were once in love, but Perez broke his heart but Superkicking him. So in retribution, the Excellence of Excellence return and planted Portia with a Tombstone Styles Clash. After he left, Rachel hits Best of Both Worlds (her fisherman neckbreaker), followed by her Texas Cloverleaf for the submission win and her first shot at the finals of the tournament. Thus dethroning Perez from retaining her title as Queen of Queens. “F*** YOU, PORTIA!!” chants came once Perez left.

7. Semi-Final Match – “Five Star” Amanda Fox vs. “The Wrestling Goddess” Athena

Winner via Submission – Athena. Another great match from two up and comers in the world of wrestling. Athena stated that “THIS IS MY HOUSE!!”, and me having my mark out moment responded “TEAM ATHENA, B****ES!!” Fox kick out of Athena’s top rope double knees (which put away Angel Blue in the first round). She also attempted the top rope stunner, but Fox saw it coming and counter it into a vicious German Suplex. The Goddess got Fox in this very creative submission, trapping both arms of Fox and hosting her leg on the back of Amanda’s head, tapped out Fox, and move on to the finals to face her number one hussie, Rachel Summerlyn. (Could someone get me a dictioNERD? What does hussie mean?) She then waved her brand new T-Shirt claiming “Team Athena” all the way.

Fast-forwarding two incredible men’s matches (one of which involves my homeboy “Showtime” Scott Summers spearing a chick from the Takeover), we get to the Finals of the American Joshi Queen of Queens Tournament between rivals Rachel Summerlyn and Athena. This is the rematch from their EPIC 10,000 Thumbtacks Match from Guilty By Association 5 (I recommend people to comp that DVD at SmartMarkVideo.com). Also for those who didn’t know, Athena cost Rachel her match with JT Lamotta at the last show. So this is redemption for Mrs. Summerlyn. Time to see who takes the title of 2011 ACW Queen of Queens.

8. Final Round Match – Rachel Summerlyn vs. Athena

The crowd was split between these two, and you can tell the beef these two got for each other. This match was a straight-up fight. Athena and Rachel pulled no punches against each other. Athena hit a flurry of roundhouse kicks on Summerlyn (about 10 of them). Rachel busted 2 Gory Bombs on the Goddess in the ring. After the two exchanged submissions, they took it to the floor, ACW JOSHI STYLE! Athena busted a headscissors, with Rachel’s head hitting the hard carpet. Rachel then grab a stick to stab Athena, but Athena block it and said “Girl you crazy!”. Athena fought Rachel off and grabbed a chair and attempt a DDT on the chair, but Summerlyn countered to the Best of Both Worlds on the chair. After seconds of recuperation, the head back to the ring for some back and forth, then busted a devastating Super Brainbuster from the top rope. Both ladies giving it their all. Athena then throws Rachel out of the ring, but then Rachel fights back, and from out of nowhere, another Gory Bomb on the hard carpet floor! Rachel rolls backwards and applies the Texas Cloverleaf, and forces the Goddess to give it up.

Winner via submission, and the 2011 ACW American Joshi Queen of Queens – Rachel Summerlyn!

After the match, Jessica James came out and hugged all over Rachel in celebration, as Ms.ACW has accomplished her goal and became the 2011 ACW Queen of Queens Champion. Rachel had an emotional promo after the match (I almost shed a tear, myself), pretty much thanking everybody for her support, Jessica for being an EGG-celent tag partner, Daffney for being a good mentor, and to all the ACW fans who supported her from day one. With this moment, and a hug from Rachel Summerlyn, the 2011 American Joshi Queen of Queens is a rap.

Final Thoughts: Just like the previous two tournaments, this year’s was no different. This will go down as one of my favorite shows of the year. Just the storyline, the wrestling, the excitement, and the emotion only are why people need to not only check this DVD out, but to come to Texas to check out this amazing art of the sport in Anarchy Championship Wrestling. Believe me, there are people that came from another state and/or country just to see this one show, and it’s an honor for ACW to get some international support. Yes, there where no Sara Del Rey, Daizee Haze, MsChif at this years show, but ACW proves that you don’t have to rely on big names to get a product over. This year’s tourney was all about the younger girls, and man, did they represent tonight. Every participant showed out what they are capable of (except for Lillie Mae, who didn’t get to compete. Blame Portia for that.) Angel Blue was an acceptable replacement to bow down for the Goddess. Mia Yim was no slore at this show. Christina Von Eerie’s uniqueness will get her places, and she feels right at home at ACW. Serena is incredible! Such a sweet, humble person in real life, but when she wrestles, she wrestles like the best. I told this to her that since leaving WWE, she has had one of the best careers in wrestling. I was an horror seeing Daffney again. She’s in my prayers for that things will go well with her law suit. Portia’s character, as mentioned earlier, has evolved into a more cunning, creepy, spiteful, vindictive individual. And that’s what’s missing in a heel, now a days. But karma bit Portia in the ass and, as R-Truth says it, she got got by Robert Evans. Lady Poison made the Joshis, and Daffney, proud but shutting up JT Lamotta.

And lastly, my MVPs for the tournament. First off, Athena…Athena…Athena…two words – “Team Athena!”…and I thank you. But all seriousness, Athena continues to dominate wherever she goes. She took out some men at the last show, made great impressions at SHIMMER and WSU, and now solidifies herself as one of the top up-and-coming stars to date. Next is Amanda Fox. My god, this girl can go! She’s under 2 years in the business and she’s 19 years old, and she delivered the best match of that entire show, with Serena. Amanda is, to me and others, the female Bryan Danielson, because she’s a great technician in the ring and her appeal is Danielson inspired, as well. She, this year, is what Athena had last year, as far as being unknown to the fans and once buying the Queen of Queens DVD, people start taking more notice of talent. Athena hanged with a top tier MsChif last year, and this year Amanda hanged with top tier Serena Deeb. Now people will take notice of “Five Star” Amanda Fox. And finally, this year’s Queen of Queens, Rachel Summerlyn. Out of all the Joshis in ACW, no one has grown more then the first lady of ACW, herself. To debut in deathmatches, to wrestle the first women’s match in ACW, to taking such harsh criticism in first SHIMMER impression, Rachel has grown into one of the most fun, caring, and rough-n-tough women in the art of wrestling. Despite all the punishment she goes through, she still lives happy a la Hiroyo Matsumoto. This was her third Queen of Queens Tournament, and after 3 attempts, she’s finally claim her throne. Her emotional speech at the end was just amazing, and it showed that it was a hard road for Mrs. Summerlyn to get that trophy, as she is in the best shape of her life, and more agile than before. Her charisma, personality, stamina, and toughness will get her far in the business. And for that, I congratulate my fellow Texan Rachel Summerlyn on becoming the 2011 ACW American Joshi Queen of Queens! You deserve it, girl.

However, nothing can quite go according to plan, as your intrepid hosts are visited by three guests… err… ghosts… in a tri-continental “A Christmas Carol”-themed special. Dropping in are the returning Allison Danger (talking exclusive news about the reformation of Pro-Wrestling SUN and *so* much more randomness), followed by Australia’s very own “Rate Tank” Kellie Skater (talking her 2010, being an international gangsta and her abusive relationship with Lee) and finishing up with Northern Ireland’s rookie prospect Rhia O’Reilly (on training with Lance Storm, working in Europe and her dreams for 2011). Thanks for supporting us with a phenomenal 2010, and we hope to move on to bigger and better things in 2011. Happy holidays!

Exclusive: Women of Wrestling Podcast with Madison Eagles & Sassy Stephie

The Women of Wrestling Podcast returns with a double dip of distaff delights as we present extended interviews with both SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles, and recently well-travelled international star Sassy Stephie. First up is half-an-hour with the Sassy one, discussing her trip to England last month where she had the chance to wrestle European legend Sweet Saraya in an old-school British rounds match, her recent shoulder injury, and her recent trip to Montreal to wrestle for NCW Femmes Fatales. Hear how she and Roxxie Cotton ended up in entirely the wrong Canadian province and managed to cross the border three times trying to get into Canada, as well as thoughts on the show from the perspective of a wrestler on the card.

Then it’s onto 45 minutes with SHIMMER’s standard bearer, Australia’s wrestling matriarch, Madison Eagles. Madison also has to discuss a recent injury (as in, this happened last week), being a lifeguard on Bronte beach, dancing at the 2000 Olympic opening ceremony, her OVW tryouts in 2003, training with Georges St-Pierre (yes, really) and all about the PWA back home in Australia, including thoughts on Jessie McKay, and whether she has any good Kellie Skater stories. We had an absolute blast recording these interviews, so we hope that sense of fun comes across as you listen. Enjoy!

In Pictures: TNA & Jakks Unveil Angelina Love Action Figure

Five-time TNA Knockouts Champion, Angelina Love will be immortalized in plastic this coming January with her very own action figure.

Jakks Pacific, the creator of TNA’s new toy line, unveiled some of the action figures including Angelina’s at the Fall Toy Fair recently and WrestlingFigs.com caught a few snaps which you can see below.

Unfortunately, I’m not convinced that Ang’s action figure is very flattering as the face looks more like that of a grumpy old man’s. However, the detailing on the tattoos on her arm is a better effort.

Nonetheless, the figure will be available from late January as part of the ‘Deluxe Impact 5′ series.

Eve Torres & Michelle McCool Confirmed for SmackDown vs Raw 2011

We also talk about how difficult she found wrestling training at the beginning, travelling internationally to Japan & Mexico, early days in IWA:MS, the impact of her work in SHIMMER, the evolution of the “Death Rey” character, being recognised in the street (or not), her amazing fitness regime, working for TNA recently (as part of a deal with JAPW) and whether her future lies in WWE or TNA. Oh, and Golden Girls. Really.

Women of Wrestling Podcast Episode 10 with Mercedes Martinez

The Women of Wrestling podcast returns with the WSU World Womens Champion, “The Latina Sensation” Mercedes Martinez. We preview the upcoming “Icon vs Icon” match at WSU’s Uncensored Rumble III in Union City, NJ on June 26th, and take the opportunity to discuss the career of one of the finest wrestlers in the world today, regardless of gender. Women of Wrestling Podcast Episode 8 with Annie Social

Oh, no wait… that’s the Dangerous Women of Wrestling PPV that’s being taped in Philly this Thursday. However, we’ve got a big part of that event on the show though – namely North Killadelphia’s own Annie Social. On this episode we discuss not only her own homecoming on that show, but her career to date – a career that spans WSU, JAPW, SHIMMER and even Carmen Electra’s NWWL. Annie had quite the non traditional route into the wrestling business, and you can hear her talk about it here, along with stories of the Dunkin Donuts that never opens its doors, the joy of Tom Hanks and disappointing afterparties at the Playboy Mansion. Recap of Celebrity Apprentice Episode 10 with Maria Kanellis

This week’s week’s episode started with the 5 remaining contestants in the suite, celebrating. Sadly the celebration didn’t last long because Mr. Trump asked everyone to come back to the boardroom almost immediately. Once everyone was good and seated, Mr. Trump congratulated everyone for making it this far, then followed up by saying that someone was going to be fired right now. The 4 remaining players will then be interviewed by last year’s winner, Joan Rivers and the first ever Apprentice winner Bill Lansing before 2 more people are also fired.

Mr. Trump then began asking each of them why they shouldn’t be fired, Maria butted in during Curtis’ speech where he mentioned going out on his own at 21. Saying that they all started working for their dreams at a young age, then mentioning how she began modeling at 15. When Trump asked her if she should be fired, she quickly told him no because she’s not afraid of working hard and wants to keep fighting til the end. Almost everyone was then asked who they thought the weakest player was, Holly quickly answered that she thought Maria was the weakest. She said that she believed that Maria doesn’t come from the purest of places, that she never hesitates to basically throw everyone under the bus to save herself in the boardroom. Maria seemed to let her comments roll off her back, saying that she never says anything that isn’t supportive and then going on to say that she knows Holly has had a hard life and that she respects her. Sharon also thought Maria was the weaker player.

Curtis was then asked who he thought was the weakest and it seemed as thought he was on Holly & Sharon’s side because he too, thought it was Maria. He seemed to still be a little ticked over Maria’s not so nice words about him in the boardroom a few weeks ago, although he claimed to be “over it” and that her words were unfounded. Maria completely laughed it off, going on to talk about a rather “gross” thing Curtis did. Claiming that Curtis was “so arrogant” that he came into their dressing room and “took a crap” in their bathroom, leaving the stench behind. Everyone laughed it up while Holly said that it was completely random for anything like that to be said. Mr. Trump agreed with Holly then went on to say that her behavior was unfit for his boardroom then firing her. Maria thanked Trump for the oppurtunity and left the boardroom. Maria was upset abotu being fired, saying that it was laughable to be fired over a comment rather than losing a task or anything of that nature.

After all the interviews were said and done, Mr. Trump had the job of firing the last 2 contestants. Curtis Stone and an extremely emotional Sharon Osbourne were sent home, leaving us with the final 2 of Bret Michaels and Holly Robinson Peete. The final task for Bret and Holly was, as Mr. Trump put it “A combination of everything that had done during the season.” The challenge was to create a brand new Snapple flavor. Along with that they also had to create a 3 page print ad, a 30 second television commercial, present the flavor to the people at Snapple and a public taste test. So this task is definitely huge one in the books. Bret & Holly were given a 2 person team, complied of former contestants from the season. Summer Sanders & Darryl Strawberry were brought back to help out Bret, while Curtis and Maria were back to help out Holly.

During the initial team meeting, Maria started throwing out ideas that Holly shot down quickly. Maria said she wasn’t going to fight for anything with Holly because she had already been fired and it was Holly’s baby, and that it’s good to connected to someone who can win rather than not. Before they could perform their taste tests, Bret & Holly had to negotiate for a few of the flavors for their Snapple flavor. Curtis was sent to debate with Bret over a few of the flavors, the major one being passion fruit. In the end, Bret gave up the passion fruit which helped Curtis in getting just about every flavor on Holly’s list. Holly’s combo of passion fruit & strawberry, aptly named “CompassionBerry” seemed to be a hit at the mall taste test, although Maria was worried that having only one flavor for the public to try might be a mistake. Bret’s “PearPlumNutty” combo had most people frowning in disgust, Maria snuck over and grabbed a bit to try herself. Curtis and Maria agreed it didn’t taste good at all, Maria even went on to say the drink was like Bret’s taste in women, all over the place and that it was like having all the “Rock of Love” chicks in a bottle.

Holly seemed to be right on point creating her photo spread and television ad while Bret was attempting to push it by creating not one but 2 tv spots. As part one of the season finale came to a close, Holly seemed calm & confident. Bret on the other hand was borderlining into panic mode, unable to get the equipment he needed for his shoot. Next week is the live finale where a brand new Celebrity Apprentice will be crowned. Who will it be, Bret or Holly?

Women of Wrestling Podcast Episode 6 with Jemma Palmer

The debut show of new European all women’s promotion Pro-Wrestling: EVE is now in the books, and your intrepid hosts Stew & Lee were front and centre. Not only that, but we brought recording equipment for our own post-show episode! We talked about the retirement of Jetta on the last episode, and on this show we grab a word with the woman who made her wrestling debut on the show, former UK Gladiator Inferno, Jemma Palmer. Jemma was kind enough to give us some time, and we had a chance to ask her about her WWE developmental deal, her training, visa issues, ambitions, and her thoughts after having her very first match. We also had unscheduled visits at the recording table by promoter Dann Read, who broke down some of his thoughts on the show, not to mention the evening’s main eventer, Sweet Saraya, fresh off an absolutely brutal hardcore war with Greece’s Blue Nikita.

Recap of Celebrity Apprentice Episode 9 with Maria Kanellis

This week’s task was to create an apartment for someone to live in, as well as create a ‘celebrity’ room. Holly was the project manager to Bret & Cyndi while Sharon was the project manager to Maria & Curtis. Both teams went out searching for furniture at a NYC furniture store. Sharon did not like Maria’s taste in furniture and sent her to work on the room with the colors and to begin painting. As Maria was midway through painting, Sharon called her and told her to change the color she had been painting with before. As time began to become an issue, Sharon & Curtis made it back to the apartment, along with some friends to help Maria paint. Things for Rocksolid (now Maria’s team) were going smoothly while Tenacity was having issues due to Cyndi’s spastic attitude. After the judges checked out both rooms, they liked Rocksolid but felt they lacked in the ‘celebrity’ room part of the task, which was a major part of it. For Tenacity, they felt it looked somewhat cheap and overdone as they tried to achieve the Zen look. In the end, Rocksolid was declared the winning team making them immune from elimination. Cyndi Lauper was the next celebrity eliminated. Only 5 celebrities remain — will Maria make it to the final 2? In a preview for next week’s episode, 3 celebrities will be fired.

Recap of Celebrity Apprentice Episode 8 with Maria Kanellis

With no one being fired on last week’s Celebrity Apprentice, the stress was riding a bit high with everyone thinking more than one person would be eliminated from the competition. The task this week was creating three 30 second radio commericals for Clockwork Home Services. The ads would be representing, Benjamin Franklin : The Punctional Plumber, One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning & Mr. Sparky : America’s on time electricion. Bret took the reigns as Project Manager for RockSolid while Summer Sanders took charge for Tenacity.

RockSolid was having too much fun on the way coming up with ideas for the jingles, using a more perverse joking approach. When they sat down with the Clockword exec’s they realized that they’d have to try and reign it in because, they were very no nonsense corprate business men. When the team sat down to run over ideas, Sharon & Maria were both showing concerns for a few of Bret’s “pushing the envelope” jingle pitches. However, Bret assured them that if things went south that he would take the fall for the ideas. Luckily it never came to that because once both teams hit the boardroom, Mr. Trump revealed that Clockwork has absolutely loved RockSolid and their creative jingles.

RockSolid was named the winner of this challenge, earning them $40,000 for Bret’s charity the “American Diabetes Association”. Before Trump sent RockSolid out of the boardroom he asked each of the members who they thought should be sent home, Maria & Sharon both chimed in saying that Curtis should be fired. Both saying that he seems very smug, Maria even mentioned how she wants to “punch him” when she looks at him. In the end, Tenacity’s Project Manager Summer was fired and sent home.

On this week’s episode, Mr. Trump decided to switch things up. With RockSolid down to 2 members, Donald moved Curtis Stone over to Tenacity while Sharon Osbourne and Maria were moved over to RockSolid to team with the remaining Bret Michaels. This week’s challenge was creating and running an exercise class at 24 Hour Fitness, Sharon & Holly were the project managers.

The ‘new’ RockSolid were working well together and having alot of fun with their class theme, creating a “RockStar Bootcamp” with Maria taking lead as the trainer. Sharon took to getting donations for the challenge, hitting up the WWE since it just so happened her husband Ozzy was hosting Monday Night Raw that night. With a hefty donation of $10,000 each coming from the WWE, Vince McMahon and even John Cena RockSolid seemed to be on the right track. The class seemed to be a huge hit with everyone involved however, the employee from 24 Hour Fitness was a bit concerned with a few of the more “provocative” moves.

When it came down to the boardroom, both teams seemed to be playing the same card thinking that their competition had done a better job. RockSolid came out on top for a moment, winning the $24,000 bonus from 24 Hour Fitness and having that added to their total, leaving them with a total of $131,803 dollars earned for the challenge. However, with a total of $206.009 Tenacity took home the win for this week. In a surprising turn of events, Mr. Trump didn’t fire anyone from RockSolid seeing as both teams earned over $300,000 for the challenge.

A former bodybuilder and fitness model whose real name is Zivile Raudoniene. Zivile is 27 years old and is from Lithuania. She signed with WWE in 2009, prior to which she won the 2009 Arnold Classic.

Jamie Keyes aka Brittany Beede is a model who caught the attention of Wrestlicious, TNA and WWE. She was due to part of Wrestlicious, having done a photoshoot for them last year. She appeared as Kevin Nash’s valet at a PPV last year and is now with WWE.

British Diva Jemma Palmer has yet to debut in FCW but is already known to many as Inferno on the UK revival of Gladiators which aired for two seasons. She was signed by WWE last year with her debut pending.

Former Orlando Magic dancer, Trinity McCray is FCW’s Naomi Night. Since her debut, she’s proven to be taking to wrestling quite quickly and recently challenged for the Queen of FCW crown.

Recap of Celebrity Apprentice Episode 4 with Maria Kanellis

This week started off with Mr. Trump asking everyone back to the boardroom after Darryl’s departure. He asked the teams to pick their project managers now, instead of waiting until they knew their task. Rocksolid chose former governor Rod Blagojevich, while Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks took the project manager role for Tenacity. For the 1st time in Celebrity Apprentice history, the project managers were separated from their teams for a good portion of their task.

The challenge this week was to create a 3d interactive display promotion Universal’s new attraction, the ‘Wizardly World of Harry Potter’. The PM’s were sent to Orlando, Fl to gather information while their teams were left in NYC working on their displays. Tenacity seemingly had the jump on Rocksolid when it came to communicating due to Blagojevich’s lack of texting/emailing skills while he and Selita were in Orlando. Despite not having their project manager there for the most part, Tenacity managed to get their presentation together quite well while Rocksolid continued to have some issues. Rocksolid’s problems only seemed to escalate once the project managers were back in the Big Apple while the ladies of Tenacity looked to be on the fast track to another win.

When it came down to the boardroom, the Universal execs. and Harry Potter fans who were on hand to see the presentations agreed that Rocksolid was good. In the end, Tenacity was simply better and took home the win for 3rd week in a row. $20,000 was given to Selita’s charity “Shine on Sierra Leone” and Rocksolid lost another team member as we saw Blagojevich get the boot.

We have considered all of the girls on the current FCW roster that aren’t already on WWE television and every week, you will have the opportunity to vote for the girl you think should advance to the next week.

Each week, we’ll reveal the rankings [similar to the Pros' Poll] and the person who polls last each week will be cut. We will continue until just one girl is left standing — the girl you believe should be WWE’s next Diva.

Recap of Celebrity Apprentice Episode 3 with Maria Kanellis

Maria was the focus at the beginning of this week’s show when she met up with Jon Paul, a very special Make A Wish kid. Maria surprised him with a $20,000 check she earned from Tenacity’s win during the “Kodak Challenge”. Maria also told Jon Paul that he was invited to the Celebrity Apprentice finale and meeting the man himself, Donald Trump who just happened to be Jon Paul’s hero.

The task for this week was that they had to create an “advertorial” for a new online identity theft partnership between Norton Antivirus and LifeLock security systems. Summer Sanders was chosen as Tenacity’s project manager, while fellow Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson was made project manager for the men. Things started off kind of rocky for the ladies, with Summer seemingly blowing off Maria’s suggestion of making Cyndi Lauper the spokesperson for their project and instead choosing Sharon Osbourne. While Maria and Cyndi were sent out to get props, Summer meets with the photographer for the project and it becomes pretty clear they have no direction for their goal. Donald Jr. mentions that he isn’t sure if the women will be able to pull it together in the short amount of time they have when he stops in to see how things are coming along.

When it came time for Tenacity to present their “advertorial” to the Norton/Life Lock execs. things once again, got a little tense. From computer glitches to Sharon’s continuing illness and it continued to boil over when both teams hit the boardroom. Summer had a few “things” to say about Cyndi, claiming she makes the whole team lose focus with her stories. Project manager, Michael seemed to have issues with the ladies final product when it came time to show them off, saying that they lacked information. Cyndi was quick to defend her team’s work and mentioned that the men’s product was too wordy and not what a “advertorial” should be, which boardroom guest Gavin & Donald Jr. agreed with.

In the end, Tenacity took home another win and $20,000 (and proceeds from Norton/Life Lock’s bundle sales) was given to Summer’s charity, Right to Play. Darryl Strawberry shocked everyone by asking to be fired, seemingly saving Michael from the chopping block for this week.

Recap of Celebrity Apprentice Episode 2 with Maria Kanellis

Donald Trump gave the teams their challenge this week, The Kodak Challenge, where each team was to create an ad campaign for Kodak.

Team Tenacity chose Maria to be the project manager this week. She came up with the whole idea for the campaign, including taking pictures with the celebrities and posing for pictures with WWE championship belts inside of a ring.

Both teams got off to a good start with everything running smoothly for them. The challenge began and everything was going well for Tenacity until the power started going in and out in the middle of it. The secret shoppers, as well as the Kodak representatives, visited the stores and said mostly positive things about Tenacity.

In the boardroom, Trump asked Maria what she thought of her team, which Maria said she loved the team because they all work so well together. When asked of what she thought of the other team’s work, she said she thought they did good but lacked Kodak products, which was the whole point of the mission. Trump announced Tenacity as the winners, saving the girls from elimination. Project manager of Rocksolid, Sinbad, was the second celebrity to be fired from the show.

Celebrity Apprentice Recap: March 14th, 2010

Unless you’ve been absent from Diva Dirt for quite a while (tsk tsk, if so), you’d know that tonight saw the premiere of the new season of Celebrity Apprentice, featuring Maria. * Maria was introduced as a former WWE Diva when all the celebrities were introduced. Donald Trump greeted the teams (men vs. women) and told them about the challenges they will face on this season. He prompted the teams to split up and a team name along with a project manager for the opposing team in preparation for the upcoming challenge.

* Team Rocksolid (the men’s team) chose Cyndi Lauper as the project manager for Team Tenacity (the women’s team), while Team Tenacity chose Bret Michaels as the men’s project manager. Donald Trump told the teams their challenge would be to run a restaurant, including hostessing, serving, and cooking the food. Team Tenacity had a tremendous turnout, which Team Rocksolid was having trouble due to their expensive menu prices. In the middle of the challenge, Donald called previous Celebrity Apprentice winner, Joan Rivers, asking her to check out both restaurants so he could get her feedback on each team. Joan had nothing but negative things to say about Team Rocksolid, saying they were slow, too expensive, and the food was cold. Upon visiting Team Tenacity’s restaurant, Joan praised the girls’ work.

* In the board room, Team Rocksolid was announced the winners having raised more money. Because of this, Team Tenacity was put up for elimination, with one of the girls going home. When Donald asked Maria who she would fire if she was in his shoes, she said that she didn’t feel comfortable answering that question. He asked her again after asking all the other girls and told him Carol. When it was all said and done, Carol was the one eliminated due to the team’s unanimous vote against her. In a preview for next week’s episode, it is the Kodak challenge.

Impact Write-Up (March 8th, 2010): Congratulations Beautiful People! You Now Have Accessories

Tonight was a historic night for wrestling as round two of the Monday Night Wars kicked off and in grand fashion for both the Divas and Knockouts in my opinion. Both shows featured tag team action but on Impact we got a treat. With Awesome Kong basically done in TNA, the question has remained: “What’s going to happen with the Knockouts Tag Team Championships?” We got our answer and in spectacular fashion. Missing in action Knockouts Taylor Wilde and Sarita returned to television to take on The Beautiful People (Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky) and the team of Angelina Love and Tara in a triple threat tag team match.

Before the match gets underway, we’re told that due to the champions not defending the titles, Hamada and Awesome Kong have been stripped of them. That’s unfortunate for Hamada because she’s an innocent victim in all of this but life goes on and Tenay tells us new champions will be crowned tonight in a triple-threat match. Taylor Wilde and Sarita sort of get an entrance in the fact it’s nearly half over when the camera cuts to the ring area. They’re in terrible matching outfits but the fact they bother to coordinate their outfits give you a sense that they’re a real team. As the inaugural Knockout Tag Champs, it’s been far to long since they’ve actually gotten to perform on a televised show. The audience loves them and they receive a nice reaction as they play to the crowd and pose in the ring. Their posing is short lived because the theme music of the Beautiful People started to play and those three devilish Knockouts walked onto the ramp. They do their usual posing and flirting with each other, before finally getting in the ring and settling down for business. They know what a huge opportunity this is and how winning tonight could solidify this version of the Beautiful People as the real deal. Team number three consists of our Knockouts Champion, Tara, and ex-TBP member Angelina Love. Angelina is basically foaming at the mouth at the chance to get in the ring against her haters and Tara just looks fierce like usual.

Upon entering the ring, Angelina makes a beeline right for her former friends. Velvet and Madison are quick to get the heck out of dodge but a sluggish Lacey von Erich nearly gets caught in the clutches of a furious blonde Canadian. TBP start screeching at Angelina and Tara, causing an annoying distraction, and that allows Saritaylor to quickly go for a roll-up pin on both. The bell rings but before a count can be made, Angelina and Tara both kick-out. Nice explosive start to the match. Thankfully it doesn’t take long for the chaos to get sorted out and each team of ladies take a corner. Taylor and Tara are the two who officially kick us off. Taylor hits a nice kick to bring Tara down to the mat and she immediately goes for a quick cover. Tara kicks out after a one count but that doesn’t stop Taylor’s effort. She uses the ropes for momentum and goes to leap over Tara, but Tara catches her, holds her for a second, then just brutally drops Taylor down to the mat on her chest. In obvious pain, Taylor makes the tag to her partner. Sarita comes in, ducks a clothesline attempt, and delivers a nice modified neckbreaker to Tara, sending the Champ staggering. Sarita goes flying to the ropes to get momentum for a crossbody and Velvet smartly tags herself in. Sarita is unable to go for the pin on Tara and Velvet takes over.

Miss Sky goes for the pin in Sarita’s place but Tara kicks out. This irritates Velvet who starts screaming in that awful shrill voice she’s been using recently. After pitching a fit, Velvet grabs Tara by the hair and lugs her over to TBP’s corner where Madison tags herself in. Madison and Velvet double team the crap out of Tara before Velvet removes herself from the action and Madison is allowed to show us what she can offer to this match. Madison snapmares Tara to the seat of her pants and follows it up with a nice looking knee right between the shoulders. She goes for the cover, but Tara powers out which leads to more screaming from Velvet. The match gets a little crazy at this point because Madison bullies Tara towards Velvet, and the latter makes a big deal of pointing to Angelina then slapping Tara across the face. This brings Angelina into the ring, as well as Velvet, causing the referee to take his eyes off Madison and Tara. He argues with Angelina which gives TBP ample opportunity to double team Tara. Madison goes for the pin, but Sarita and Taylor quickly stop that and we have a two on two situation between Saritaylor and TBP. The girls fight for position but Saritaylor go for a double whip across the ring. TBP reverse the move, send Saritaylor across to the ropes, and we get our first taste of Lacey von Erich tonight as she trips the ex-champs and they eat a face full of mat. Lacey feigns innocence and TBP hit gorgeous double drop kicks to Saritaylor, knocking them right out of the ring.

The Beautiful People start taunting everybody, turning their backs on Angelina Love. At this point Angelina is pretty disgusted and she comes into the ring despite the fact she’s not even the legal woman and starts taking down Velvet Sky. Madison does her best to help out but she’s disposed off and the referee starts ripping into Angelina once again. He forces her back to the corner but Tara has come to her senses and has grabbed Madison for the Widow’s Peak. Tara gets Madison set up but unbeknown to her DAFFNEY has literally come out of nowhere, grabbed the Knockouts Championship, and has gotten into the ring. As Tara turns around with Madison in the air, Daffney takes the title and knocks her right in the side of the head with it. Tara goes down like a ton of bricks and Madison falls on top of her. The referee finally turns around and sees the unintentional pinning attempt so of course he goes to count. By the time anyone else catches what’s going on it’s too late and the bell has started too ring. The Beautiful People start to mark out and begin jumping around and celebrating while Angelina and Tara are in total disbelief. We cut to a few shots of Daffney who is absolutely beside her with happiness that she just pulled one over on Tara. Absolute brilliance on the part of TNA.

Wow!

I absolutely adored everything about this match/segment. It wasn’t the best Knockout action wrestling wise but it certainly delivered for everything it was supposed too. I guess I’ll start with the obvious and congratulate the Beautiful People on finally winning the Knockout Tag Championships. This has been a long time coming because I believe these titles were made specifically for this faction. If the drama with Angelina hadn’t happened, then she and Velvet could very well still be champions but now we have the team of Madison and Velvet carrying the belts. There are several directions TNA can take this storyline and I’m excited to see where it can go. Will any combination of two of the three defend the belt? Personally I would like to see Lacey end up left out. It’s not because of her limited wrestling skills or anything like that, it’s because Velvet is such a dominant personality and overbearing, and Madison is just… well she’s Madison. Together those two make a formidable team. They’re bound to overshadow Lacey, who should really do nothing more than valet for them. It would be interesting to watch the title win go to the heads of Madison and Velvet, and they could start to take Lacey for granted. Lacey could turn into the Madison of this incarnation of TBP because Madison was never a star until Angelina Love left. Lacey doesn’t seem like the type of girl that would enjoy taking that abuse. Since LVE has the least amount of history with the group, I’d like to see her eventually get fed up with the antics of Velvet and Madison, and turn on them. With Lacey’s family history she could eventually turn into a great babyface. If she actually develops some wrestling skills, throw the woman in a ring. There’s endless possibilities for this scenario! The Beautiful People winning the tag belts are the best thing to happen to the belts because now we have champions who will be there and who will be pushed, and we’ll be left guessing as to which way this title run will go.

It was nice to see Taylor Wilde and Sarita return to our television screens. If TNA is truly going in a superficial direction with their Knockouts then they need more Sarita in their lives. That woman is one of the most gorgeous people in wrestling right now and what makes Sarita so fantastic is she can actually wrestle, and wrestle great. Sarita has star quality and TNA would have to be blind to not see that. With proper booking, Sarita could get way over and I would love to see her and Taylor form a small faction with Angelina. That’s the best possible scenario for Saritaylor right now. They can get back into the tag title picture this way and Angelina needs allies. We can’t keep seeing Angelina try and fend off three-on-one attacks on a nightly basis. Judging from the way the match ended, Tara is now going to have her hands full with Daffney, so Angelina is going to have to start scrambling. If she partners with Saritaylor not only do the ex-champs get back in the title hunt, but Angelina has two strong partners who won’t back away from TBP. Wrestling in general doesn’t have enough stables/factions, so having two feuding female ones would be a treat to all women wrestling fans.

Reckon I saved the best part of Impact for last?

Personally, I was hoping for a Daffney appearance on Impact during the tag bout and my wish was granted. Not only did Daffney cost Tara and Angelina the tag titles, but her actions overshadowed the win by TBP. I said it last week in my article and my Write-Up that Daffney is basically the “it girl” for TNA right now and once again that was proven last night. Daffney’s presence and demeanor at the end of the match made it the best thing on television last night (unless you like old guys or Secret Life of the American Teenager) and as a fan it’s agonizing to me that I have to wait seven more days for another Daffney fill. I really, really, REALLY hope this is building towards a pay-per-view match for the Knockouts Championship between Zombie Hot and Tara. I know that it’ll be epic and I have a feeling that it will be done right if you know what I mean. The fact that Daffney’s interference was more of a big deal than the perennial pretty faces of TNA winning the vacant tag titles speaks volumes to me. I feel that TNA is 110% behind this Daffney push and that the best is yet to come for her.

Overall, I give tonight’s Knockout action one million thumbs up. A lot of people are going to slam it because of their disdain for the Beautiful People but I encourage everyone to look at it in a positive light. With those girls having the titles, it’s going to open a lot of doors. It could very well lead to the downfall of TBP. They’re not the best wrestlers on the roster, but heel champions are more beneficial because they don’t have to wrestle that much. They can bump and sell very well, and the babyfaces can shine. After two months of just “ehhh” Knockout action, last night proved that the division is still important to the fans. Things can only go up from here.

WWE Working on New Divas DVD

WWE is reportedly working on a new DVD release on the WWE Divas. The DVD will concentrate on the history of the Divas division and feature classic matches and segments with commentary from several past and present Divas.

The legendary 7-time WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus has been confirmed for the project.

Mickie James on Music: Starting Over as a Singer, Interesting Comment Relating to Maria’s Release

Former WWE Women’s Champion, Mickie James, speaking about her upcoming CD release ‘Strangers & Angels’, comments on why she ‘started over’ as a country music singer even though she already has a successful career in wrestling:

“I don’t know. Why not? I’m always up for a challenge and I like to challenge myself. When I first debuted with WWE, I just started going back to college. The day I debuted was my first day of college. The first two and a half years, I was doing double duty then. I was going to school full-time and I was on the road full-time.

I think it’s important to challenge yourself and constantly set the bar higher. With music, it’s always been a passion of mine. It’s always been something I wanted to do. The difference between it is that you’re so vulnerable on stage because in the ring, it’s like a dance. You’re performing, you’re feeding offthe energy of the crowd, but it’s totally driven by raw passion. Whereas, this is a part of your heart and your soul and you’re very vulnerable because it’s just you and a microphone sometimes.

It’s just you up there, you’re giving it your all, and you’re giving a piece of yourself. I think it’s just a way for me to give my fans a piece of me that they wouldn’t necessarily know—a deeper side of me. What you get on the screen is this butt-kicking girl that kicks tail every Friday night, so this is a little softer side, a little different side of me.”

It’s really interesting to hear Mickie talk about studying in college at the same time as her early push in WWE. That’s definitely something I didn’t know before — well done to her. That sounds like a crazy schedule but I think it’s very responsible that Mickie worked hard to make sure she had something concrete to fall back on; we all know that the entertainment industry is very hit and miss. One day you’re a star and the next, you’re not.

Interestingly, Mickie also made a comment that relates to the recent release of Maria Kanellis — although her comments were obviously made before Kanellis’ release. In her interview on Saturday night, Maria alluded to the fact that she has many passions and didn’t want to tie herself down to simply being a WWE Diva, which WWE pretty much didn’t like. Mickie, speaking in this interview, says:

“[...] I believe you can have more than one passion in life. You can do more than one thing. The only limitations we have our within ourselves…”

It seems Mickie has the same belief as Maria — and I totally agree with them both. No one is made only to do one thing, people have many different passions and hobbies and things they want to accomplish in life. Interesting that Maria is axed for that belief and Mickie was treated like dirt on national TV.

Katie Lea Works as Babyface in Germany

ECW Diva, Katie Lea has seen some ring time over the past two nights in Germany where she has teamed up with Mickie James, playing a babyface.

Last night the former Raw rivals teamed up in a winning effort against Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix in Stuttgart and accomplished the same in Leipzig tonight.

As much as I’d love this to be an indicator for television, I’m not reading too much into it. Perhaps the decision was made to have Katie as a babyface given that she is a German native. Though raised in Britain, Katie was born in Lüneburg, Germany. If so, that has to be a real treat for her!

Jackie Haas Confirmed for Next WOW Podcast + Your Questions for Her

Jackie, the former Tough Enough 2 champion has worked for both of the major promotions and is the wife of SmackDown Superstar, Charlie Haas. Just earlier this year, Jackie made a brief comeback when she competed once again as Miss Jackie in the 25 Diva battle royal at WrestleMania 25.

Women of Wrestling Podcast Episode 2: Portia Perez

The Women of Wrestling Podcast returns with NINJA-esque stealth to present episode #2, with special guest Portia Perez. This week, the Women of Wrestling Podcast returns with episode #2, as Stew and Lee welcome the “Ridiculously Awesome” Portia Perez to the show. Portia is one half of the SHIMMER Tag Team Champions along with her Canadian NINJA partner Nicole Matthews. Apart from her well regarded work in SHIMMER, Portia is internationally travelled, having worked extensively across North America, Mexico and Europe.

Gina Carano is a ‘Knockout’

No, not in that sense… sorry! The face of female MMA, Gina Carano is to make her movie debut starring in Oscar-winning director, Steven Soderbergh’s new movie ‘Knockout’. Digital Spy reports:

Carano, who has no previous acting experience, will play a troubled girl from the other side of the tracks who is given a chance to use her fighting skills for good, reports Variety.

Soderbergh will shoot the movie in January on location in the US, Ireland and Turkey. The director plans to make a globetrotting espionage adventure in the vein of the James Bond films.

Introducing Women of Wrestling Podcast: Episode 1 with Allison Danger

We are extremely pleased to announce that Diva Dirt has acquired the distribution of a fabulous new women’s wrestling audio show, the Women of Wrestling Podcast. Hosted by the wonderful Stew Allen and Lee Burton, the show features a special guest from the world of women’s wrestling in each episode with lengthy discussion into their career and lots of witty banter too.

In the first episode, Stew and Lee are joined by SHIMMER co-founder, Allison Danger as she discusses things ranging from her role in SHIMMER as both wrestler and management, as well as her various injuries. There’s also a cameo from Allison’s daughter, Kendall to listen out for! Plus some hilarious Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts stories.

The Women of Wrestling Podcast is a must for all of our readers, I listened to this last week and was really entertained, enough so to want to bring it to Diva Dirt. We are extremely excited to have the podcast as part of the site and equally excited to have Stew and Lee join us as an extended part of our team!

Hopefully for future episodes, we’ll try and make posts where you can submit your questions for the guests that Stew and Lee will have lined up.

We’re also still working on the iTunes podcast feed, so that will launch a little later. But for now, you can stream the episode or download it below.
