Becky Lynch has an ally in fellow Irish athlete Conor McGregor. Not that she needs it.

Lynch went to Twitter to respond to an article that compared her explosive rise to Irish UFC star McGregor. Lynch retorted by saying “The Man channels no one”, and stating she has no problem breaking neither their Irish bond, nor his arm.

The Irish mixed martial artist and boxer responded by offering support and backup, if Lynch ever found herself in that spot.

Lynch thanked McGregor, and made a not-so-subtle comment about how “nice” New York is in the spring; presumably aimed at the fact that WrestleMania 35 will be at MetLife Stadium, located near New York in New Jersey, next April.

The Man doesn’t need backup, as we can all attest, but if Lynch needed the help, McGregor wouldn’t be an awful choice.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion boasts a 21-4 record, and is the biggest pay-per-view draw in MMA history, headlining four out of the six highest selling UFC events.

As the first Irish-born UFC champion, the pairing is a natural thought. If the two actually ever did pair up, the Internet would surely explode.
