SmackDown Discussion Post: 07.03.20

Extreme Rules is scheduled for July 19 and from what we know from last week is that Bayley will be defending her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross. This match was formed last week after Cross successfully defeated three other women in a Fatal 4-way match on SmackDown.

That match also included Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, and Cross’ tag team partner Alexa Bliss.  The victory was declared after Evans delivered a Woman’s Right to Brooke. Cross then capitalized on the victory by a rollup on Evans as Bliss was on the outside.

With the event being still two weeks away, what else could brew up between Bayley and Cross as they get ready for Extreme Rules?

This past Wednesday at The Great American Bash there was an amazing match that had us all at the edge of our seats. SmackDown’s Sasha Banks took on NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai in a non-title match. It was definitely a memorable match that evening where ultimately Shirai came out victorious.

During that match, we had a distraction from Bayley and a surprise appearance from Asuka. Shirai picked up the win after Asuka sprayed the green mist in Banks’ face. She then hit a moonsault for the victory. Asuka and Shirai celebrated in the ring.

Asuka is definitely sending a message to Banks as their RAW Women’s Championship match will take place at Extreme Rules.

There is currently no preview for the women for tonight’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown. There will most likely be an altercation between Cross and Bayley for further build-up towards the pay-per-view. Could Asuka maybe make an appearance again to play mind games with Banks?

Feel free to discuss tonight’s show in the comment section below.
