After making her in-ring debut in 2015, former journalist Elena Pogosyan has been thriving on the indy scene.

Thanks to Twitter user SummerAlexaRyse, Diva Dirt recently sat down with the upcoming star to discuss her goals in wrestling, how she’d describe her style and more. Below are the highlights:

How did you get your start in wrestling?

My start in wrestling was a bit unusual, I’ve always been a wrestling fan, but becoming a wrestler was unfathomable for me. I moved to New York to pursue my journalism career, but I wasn’t happy. I moved thousands of miles away from my family and I wasn’t content in my career. ‘Til this day I still don’t know how the notion came to me, I guess you could call it an epiphany, but I was listening to music and the idea of wrestling hit me. Pro-wrestling was where I could tell a story (much like a journalist does) but not be confined, it’s where I could talk my talk and walk my walk. So I told my right hand woman, my sister, and she supported me completely. I found a wrestling school 10min away from me and the rest is history.

For those unaware of your in-ring work, could you describe what your wrestling style and character are like?

I’m an Armenian woman, who grew up on the west coast (Glendale,CA and Las Vegas, NV), I morphed together everything I grew up around and made it my own. I love rap/poetry, I like to talk, I like being a kick-a$$ female who doesn’t take disrespect, I like standing up for myself, so I think that shows in my wrestling style.

What are your biggest goals in wrestling?

My biggest goals in wrestling is obviously to make people feel something. To make people realize that hard work, self dignity, perseverance and faith will behoove you. I think the dream for everyone is getting some sort of recognition for their work, I’m happy doing what I love but of course I would love to see pay off.

Which wrestlers, past or present, would you dream to share the ring with one day, and why?

That’s a tough question, I’d love to step in the ring with The Rock and have a promo standoff [laughs], but in a fantasy world, I’d be wrestling in a fatal four way with Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero and Konnan. Shawn Michaels because he’s so crisp in the ring, everything he does is so technical, and Eddie Guerrero and Konnan, because not only do I relate to their humorous characters, I loved their move set and the swag they’d bring into the ring.
