Gauntlet match on the horizon to name a number one contender for the NXT UK Women’s Title

NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray is at 607 days and counting as champion and the self-proclaimed “Forever Champion” needs a new challenger. Ray has gone through some of the best including Toni Storm, Piper Niven, Jinny, and most recently Meiko Satomura. So who is next?

On this week’s NXT UK, it was announced that Ray will face the winner of the first-ever women’s Gauntlet Match for the UK brand. The five participants are as follows:

  • Jinny
  • Isla Dawn
  • Xia Brookside
  • Dani Luna
  • Emilia McKenzie

One of these women will win this match and go on to try and dethrone the longest reigning women’s champion in the modern era. KLR lets them know that none of them are good enough to defeat the Forever Champion. The date for this match has not been announced yet.

Two names that were a surprise that wasn’t on this list of names was our match for this week’s show. Meiko Satomura took on the undefeated Aoife Valkyrie.

Valkyrie took it to Satomura with her undefeated streak on the line. A battle of submission ensued at one point where both women had submissions locked in on each other but thanks to rope breaks the match continued. As the match continued, Valkyrie missed with a step-up enziguri.

Satomura hits a suplex which has both women down with the official making the count. Satomura was able to get up first and went for the scorpion kick but didn’t connect. Valkyrie headed up the ropes for a moonsault but only achieved a near fall.

Satomura stays on top after hitting a DDT and several hits to the back of her opponent. Keeping Valkyrie down to one knee, Satomura hits the Scorpio Rising which was the final hit that was needed to put away the now defeated Valkyrie.

Highly suggested match to watch.

Who do you think will end up being KLR’s next opponent? What did you think of Satomura vs. Valkyrie? Leave your thoughts below!!
