Indie wrestler Heather Monroe made a first appearance for the company on AEW Dynamite. She faced AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida in a rather short match.
Monroe receives a near fall towards the end of the match after countering a falcon arrow by the champion. Shida then applies a submission to Monroe which causes her to tap out.
Monroe is best known for her time with the Bar Wrestling promotion. She has also done work with RISE, SHIMMER, and has taken on Brandi Rhodes in Ring of Honor. You can check their match out by clicking here.
After the match, Shida was approached for an interview and has commented that she is still waiting for someone to step up to face her at AEW’s next pay-per-view event, All Out. The event is scheduled to take place on Sept. 5. The only woman other than Shida who is expected to be in action at that event is Britt Baker. She previously announced that she would return from injury by that event.
