Intergender match set for Impact Wrestling’s United We Stand

Back in January, Impact Wrestling announced they would be collaborating Major League Wrestling (MLW) for their event, United We Stand, during WrestleMania weekend. Today, Impact confirmed some of the matches on the card, including a special intergender match.

Former Knockouts Champion, Tessa Blanchard, will go one-on-one against former Impact World Heavyweight Champion, Eli Drake. The announcement also boasts other potential dream matches, such as Team Impact vs. Team Lucha Underground and RVD and Sabu vs. The Lucha Bros. Still, the intergender match stands out.

Tessa and Drake are both high profile names, so having them compete in an intergender match with so many eyes on wrestling that weekend is a big deal. Blanchard recently challenged Knockouts Champion, Taya Valkyrie, in a Street Fight that is already an early contender for Match of the Year. This could be another noteworthy match for her coming off a breakout year in 2018.

United We Stand takes place on Thursday, Apr. 4 at Rahway Recreation Centre in Rahway, NJ. Tickets are on sale now. The event starts at 11:00 p.m. EST.  Although the initial announcement said it would be available on IMPACT Wrestling’s official Twitch channel, it will stream live exclusively on Fite.tv.
