Ivy Nile defeats Kay Lee Ray to remain undefeated; Sarray to return soon with a new look

Sarray has not appeared on NXT programming since November when she suffered a loss against Kay Lee Ray. She returned home to Japan but has returned and since has had one match on 205 Live. Now she is ready to return to NXT but she has a new look and rejuvenated self-worth.

In a vignette that aired during this week’s NXT 2.0, Sarray sported some glasses and pigtails and new attire. From her trip back home to Japan, she found a necklace her grandmother had given to her when she was young.

She tells the story that her grandmother was strong and that she taught her to never give up under any circumstances. Finding the necklace has given her a new passion and energy and she will continue to be the Warrior of the Sun in the ring and Sarray outside the ring.

The match results of this week’s NXT are –

Ivy Nile defeated Kay Lee Ray

Dakota Kai defeated Yulisa Leon

Ivy Nile remains undefeated since stepping foot in the ring as a member of Diamond Mine. Nile faced a huge opponent in Kay Lee Ray who has her own sights set on Mandy Rose and the NXT Women’s Title.

In a very competitive match between the two, there were moments where either woman could have walked away with the win. But with Nile’s undefeated streak on the line, she took advantage of Mandy Rose coming out and causing a distraction. KLR went for the KLR Bomb but Nile rolled through it to pin KLR’s shoulders to the mat for the count of three. Nile defeating the longest-reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion says something about her future.

Post-match, Nile got out of dodge as Rose attacked KLR. Reinforcements for Rose came in the form of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champs and fellow Toxic Attraction members (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne). It was a three-on-one attack until Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta rushed to the ring to help KLR. Hartwell, Pirotta, and KLR stood tall in the ring as they chased the champs up the ramp. A six-woman tag match is booked for next week as a result.

The second match of the night was Dakota Kai facing Yulisa Leon. The match came from a confrontation backstage after Leon and Valentina Feroz were talking about their hopes for the upcoming Dusty Tag Team Classic. Kai tried to convince Leon and Feroz that any success they get will tear them apart. A vignette was shown highlighting the team for fans to get to know them a bit more.

A solid match between the two almost had Leon picking up an upset with a near fall off of a fall-away slam with a bridge. It would be Kai to pick up the victory after hitting a kick in the corner. Post-match, Kai hit Feroz from behind as she was checking on Leon in the ring. After delivering a punch knocking her into the corner, Kai went for a kick but luckily for Feroz her tag team partner pulled her out of the ring saving her.

Other segments of the night are from Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro in the locker room talking to Briggs and Jensen following their loss in the first round of the men’s Dusty Classic. Carter and Catanzaro stated the four should go out for some drinks which prompted Wendy Choo who had been napping on top of the lockers to stir the pot.

Lastly, Raquel Gonzalez was being interviewed backstage about her recent loss at New Year’s Evil. Cora Jade entered to try and convince Gonzalez to be her tag team partner for the Dusty Tag Team Classic. Gonzalez still has her eyes set on the NXT Women’s Title and even though she likes Jade she told her to never get in her way again and declined the offer. Once Gonzalez walked away, Jade said she will convince her to be her teammate.

This week’s 205 Live, which was taped prior to NXT 2.0, will see Lash Legend taking on Fallon Henley. It will air this Friday after SmackDown at 10 PM ET on Peacock.
