News in Brief: Tsukasa Fujimoto Wins Four Titles in Four Weeks, PWWA Interim Title Match & More

Diva Dirt is back with another fix of news, notes and tidbits in the world of women’s wrestling. Check it out below:

We have two final contenders for the PWWA Interim Championship – and they are none other than “Everybody’s Favourite Girlfriend” Jessie McKay and Evie!

On the 15th of June at a PWA Australia show, Jessie McKay forced Shazza McKenzie to submit to her octopus stretch, while New Zealander and one of Diva Dirt’s Five to Watch for 2012, Evie, toppled Kellie Skater in a rematch of their famous September bout.

McKay and Evie will now face off on August 25.

Who do you think will win and become the new PWWA Interim Champion?

It’s been quite a month for Tsukasa Fujimoto.

After defeating Aki Shizuku at the end of May in the finals of the second 19 O’Clock Girls tournament to become the new number one contender to the IW19 Championship, she went on to defeat Kurumi for the title on June 1 (which also made her the first wrestler to have held every Ice Ribbon title available).

On June 9, she and Hikaru Shida defeated Aki Kambayashi and Mia Yim in the finals of a four-team tournament to win the vacant Reina World Tag Team Championship.

Only days after Hiroyo Matsumoto had won the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship on June 10, Fujimoto defeated her after Matsumoto “slipped on a banana peel” to become the new champion.

On June 17, she and her fellow “Dropkickers” team member Tsukushi defeated the “Happy Makers” (Aoi Kizuki and Sayaka Obihiro) at Ice Ribbon’s sixth anniversary event to regain the International Ribbon Tag Team Championship.

On June 24, Fujimoto defended her DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship in a ten-person ten minute battle royal. Although she lost the title to Hiroshi Fukuda, she won it again from Tanomusaku Toba and ended the match as champion. However, due to the belt’s ’24/7 rule’, where the champion can be pinned or submitted anytime or anywhere (as long as there is a referee present), Tsukasa was immediately rolled up by Choun Shiryu, whom left the arena as the champion.

Although she lost her DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, congratulations must be awarded to Tsukasa for having earned herself four separate titles (and five title reigns) in four weeks!

ECCW in Canada held two nights of shows in a row on May 25 and 26. On night one, KC Spinelli teamed up with Tony Baroni in an intergender tag match against Mary Jane Payne and Jamie Diaz. Spinelli and Baroni won.

On night two, The RIOT dropped their tag team title gold to Scotty Mac and Jamie Diaz, when Mac pinned Nicole Matthews.

Recently, Spinelli once more successfully defended the ECCW Women’s Championship that she won in October 2011, this time in a match against Sammy Hall on June 15 in Port Coquitlam. Hall is on the rise in ECCW and is likely to become their next female success story.

On June 23, Nicole Matthews teamed up with one of her RIOT allies, Andy The Dreadful Bird, against The Bollywood Boys in the opening bout of ECCW’s “TLC VII” show at the Russian Community Centre, but was met with defeat after Bird was kidnapped.
