NXT Watch (November 23rd, 2011): Tamina Found Love in a Hopeless Place, But Can Maxine?

11

Loyal NXT brethren, lend me your ears for it is time to continue this never-ending fairytale about a man and a woman engaged to wed, that is put on hold when a certain “Dirty Curty” invades their homeland of NXT. If you’ve been paying attention, you of course know that I’m referring to our very own feature film, “Maxine‘s Choice”. This week bode no differently for our diva in question, as Maxine is left with more reasons as to why her decision making skills must be at their finest before her big day. Also this week, the tale of two friends with benefits, Tamina and JTG, continues on with her… disapproving relatives? Friends? People she made her debut with?

Okay, stop reading this and scroll down to view!

As Yoshi Tatsu and Johnny Curtis face off in the ring with Batemax on commentary, we are stunned to witness Dirty Curty face defeat after a spin kick from the top rope. Following that, Derrick Bateman heads out from the commentary table into the ring and pats Johnny on the shoulder before heading to the back. Matt Striker (trend #mattstriker this Friday night for your favorite southern belle, Cryssi) then informs us that there is a commotion going on backstage, as we head over to see the stunning star of NXT, Maxine, and her frizzy haired fiancée, yet equally awesome, Derrick Bateman.

She again tries to explain to DB that nothing happened, nor will it ever happen with Dirty Curty. Master Bateman tries to reiterate that she keeps saying that, but he doesn’t comprehend what she means. This angers our Queen of Mean, as she broadens her vocal range and asks if she has to explain it to him! Derrick says that everywhere he turns Dirty Curty is creeping up on them, and says that he can’t deal with him, or this, because he has too much on his plate right now.

Maxine seems unimpressed with such news, and brings in all the things on her plate. In case Derrick forgot, they are planning a wedding after all, but he doesn’t help with a darn thing involved! She accuses Bateman of not even stuffing the Thanksgiving Day turkey yet, but he questions how he’s supposed to do all that when he’s too busy debuting on SmackDown to try to make a better life for them? She brings up that Teddy Long specifically asked for Bate-MAX to make an appearance on the blue brand, and that he didn’t do it alone. She tells him to get his priorities straight, and that until he does, playtime between the two of them is OVER.

As Maxine walks off in true bridezilla fashion, Dirty Curty then creeps up behind Derrick and accuses Maxine of having eyes for his caboose out in the ring. Bateman mentions that it was probably his loss against Yoshi Tatsu, which Dirty Curty claims was because she was staring a hole through his heart and soul. Curty says that Bateman’s marriage is going to go up in flames just like his Thanksgiving turkey, and that he’s lucky he proposed to her first because instead of living in hell with Bateman, she could be living in paradise with Dirty Curty (and this is said with some waving shimmy dance as well that I can’t put into words). Derrick tells Curty to stop thinking about Maxine and asks if he gets that, but as Bateman walks off, Dirty Curty says that while he got that, he’s also going to get her!~ DUN DUN DUN!

After an in ring promo by the Usos, JTG and Tamina interrupt things with a microphone in hand. JTG makes a car screech sound effect, as the island goddess, Tamina apparently wants to talk. (Seriously, why can’t the Divas on the other brands just get a microphone whenever they want to talk?!) The Brooklyn Baller hands our Warrior Princess the stick, as she states that she’s not going to listen to the Usos just because of their family history, being that she is a strong, independent woman who’s got a man that looks good! She drags him by the chain and promotes his style, before claiming that he will beat an Uso tonight.

JTG puts his chain around Tamina’s neck, as Matt Striker clears up the relationship between the trio in that they are cousins. From there, you can witness JTG face Jimmy Uso!

Thoughts: Another pretty decent week of NXT. While this show is now only promoting Tamina and Maxine on the microphone, it’s what a lot of Divas could use to help get people to know them. I do miss the matches, and it seems WWE is destroying the Chickbusters before our very eyes, but as I said before, provided a Divas makes so much as a one second appearance, I will be here to recap it. This Batemax wedding is going to be the event of the century, and who knows? Maybe they’ll do it Brady Bunch style and have a double wedding with JTG and Tamina… how I dream of ways to make NXT even more awesome.

Your Two Cents: Giving Thanks

24

“Your Two Cents” is the new interactive feature where we gauge the opinions of our Twitter and Facebook followers on different discussions in women’s wrestling.

This week, we’re asking this: This year, what in women’s wrestling–could be a person, moment, company, anything–are you most thankful for? We’ve read your responses on our social media pages and picked some of the best submissions to highlight here on the website. As always, you can join the debate by leaving your comments!

Our Two Cents

Batting for Team DD this week, it’s Bobby giving us his personal opinion on this week’s topic:

Bobby | It’s hard for me to pick one certain thing I am thankful for in wrestling because I am thankful that we get to see them all perform to their best abilities, however, I must say that…wait a second, this isn’t challenging at all. I am thankful for the one and only, Miss Karen Jarrett! Now, before everyone begins to think this will fall in line with my write-up’s, hear me out. I was struggling to continue watching the Knockouts solely because of the fact the hot potato Winter/Mickie title games, but all it took was one Miss Karen segment, and I was immediately drawn back for good. She is what I deem my savior to Impact because without her, I’m not sure if I would’ve come back to it, and judging from some of the great matches we’ve seen in the past few months, I would’ve definitely been missing out. I deem that we all stand up and give a toast to one of the greatest females in the world, Miss Karen Jarrett!

Your Two Cents

Charlie Flickinger | I’m thankful for women like Mickie James, Sarita, Sara Del Rey, Molly Holly, Tara, Beth Phoenix, Nikki Roxx, Natalya, Jessicka Havok and AJ Lee. Women who have proved you don’t have to be stick thin, with huge boobs and blonde hair to be successful.
Clinton Bowman | Quite thankful for the most over Diva who isn’t a Diva, Vickie Guerrero. She brightens my Monday (and sometime Friday) nights in glorious fashion. Wrestling without her just wouldn’t make sense.
Joshua Ruth | I’m thankful for WWE hiring more women with past experience. Tenille, Kira, Ivelisse, Britani, Irena, and most of all Kong. Hopefully this continues on into next year!
Josue Guzman | Thankful for Gail Kim‘s shoot interview. Her departure from WWE has caused a lot of controversy but at the same time it really opened up my eyes on how WWE treat their female talent. Not allowing them to out stage the men, 1-2 minutes matches, retiring the Women’s title, sudden releases, not hiring talent because they don’t have “the right look” and the list goes on. I’ve lost a lot of respect for WWE and now rather watch the Indies.
@MeaganG1990 | The moment that I am most thankful for is Velvet Sky finally winning the Knockouts Championship. A lot of her fans, including myself. We have waited for four years for Velvet to finally get the title and all of her fans finally said “FINALLY” as soon as she won it. Though while she is not the champion anymore, I am still thankful and grateful that I have seen my favorite Knockout finally win the title.
Trevor Stewart | I’m thankful for Kharma coming to WWE lighting a fire under the Diva’s division…although it was only for a short time. And if it wasn’t for her her coming, then leaving, then the Pin Up strong movement may not have happened.

And now we turn it over to you…

What are your two cents on the debate? What in women’s wrestling are you most thankful for this year? Tell us in the comments…

Another Recent WWE Tryout

59

As posted last week, two European talents took part in tryouts earlier this year when WWE was in the UK for its annual Fall tour.

The two names revealed were Alpha Female of Pro-Wrestling: EVE and Rachelle St. Clair. Now, the Wrestling Observer is reporting a third name: Erin Angel, who along with Alpha, is part of Pro-Wrestling: EVE.

Angel is 24-years-old and has been wrestling since the tender age of 15, making her a 9-year pro. She was trained by TNA star Doug Williams, WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts and British wrestler Jace the Ace.

Exclusive: WSU Promoter Explains Dixie Carter Hall of Fame Induction, TNA Knockout Weighs In

This past Saturday night during the WSU Breaking Barriers 2 Internet pay per view, the company turned a lot of heads when it was announced that TNA President Dixie Carter will be inducted into the WSU Hall of Fame next March.

Speaking for the first time on the decision to induct Carter, WSU promoter Sean McCaffrey told us last night on the premiere episode of DD360:

How many female promoters are out there? How many female promoters have there been? There haven’t been many. I can only name two or three off the top of my head. Dixie Carter, no matter what you want to say about TNA, stood the test of time. She gives people jobs. I don’t necessarily agree with the way they do things there [in TNA], but the fact is, she’s a female promoter, she’s keeping wrestling alive. If it wasn’t for her, there’d only be one national company. She’s giving people a place to work. She’s giving wrestling fans an alternative, if you want it. Whatever you want to say about TNA, she’s very successful as far as keeping her company alive for 10 years. I mean, how many times have we heard, “Oh TNA, is going to go out of business?” They’re still kicking and as a female promoter in a male-dominated world, she’s still up there. She’s head above shoulders.

When probed further about whether this could be a somewhat political move in order to have a better working relationship with TNA, and perhaps have more access to their talent, McCaffrey is adamant that this is not why WSU is inducting Carter.

He says:

Whether we have a good relationship with TNA or not, we’re not going to use their people no matter what. We don’t have it said in writing that we can’t use their people, we just won’t use them. For us, we’re storyline based and and we can’t book people regularly with them. They could pull people off your shows. Just going back to 2008, we had all these plans for Nikki Roxx when she was our champion, and then TNA pulled her off our shows because they had house show dates that they gave her a week before. So you can’t do your long term booking with them. And also, they jack the prices up so much with them [the talent] that it’s not financially profitable. Also, with the iPPVs and and now we have the new national DVD that was released this week, you can’t have their talent on your national stuff, so we couldn’t use them anyway. So, that was not a factor when it came to this decision.

Regarding whether Dixie will be in Deer Park, New York for the Hall of Fame induction on March 3rd, 2012, Sean adds:

She knows about it. We don’t know if she’ll be there as of right now. If she shows up, she shows up. If she doesn’t, she doesn’t. I guess the one thing I do want to make clear is that, some people actually emailed us this too, “Oh, this is a publicity stunt, they’re going to bury her.” We’re not going to bury her. There’s not gonna be a swerve. If she’s there, she’s there. If she’s not, she’s not. We’re still inducting her in. As regards to the Hall of Fame, we’re going to do it in a classy manner. If she shows up, even better. If she doesn’t, we’ll send her plaque in the mail.

Current TNA Knockout and former Knockouts Champion, Tara aka Lisa Marie Varon, also weighed in Dixie’s induction. Speaking to us on DD360 last night, Tara said that the induction is deserved.

Tara says:

I think it’s deserved. I mean, the first female promoter, right? Is that correct? And a successful [one], launching off this huge show. I’m supportive of it.

The former Knockouts Champion continues:

It was very refreshing when I came over to TNA, especially having a woman as a boss. She knew the importance of our female segments on the show. When I came over, there was like two to three women’s segments on the show and there was one show that was all girls. I’ll be honest, I was taken aback. I was like, “Oh, my gosh!” When I first got there, I had three segments on the show — a backstage segment, me walking in the back and then a match in the ring — and I wasn’t used to that. I was like, “Holy moly, this is insane!” It was an awesome feeling. I think that comes from having a female as a boss and she knew as women being very empowered female athletes that could be sexy and be great wrestlers, and she appreciates that we are good athletes.

And in person, she’s a really cool person. Very easy to talk to. Most of the time when she comes backstage, I’m at work. We land the day of the show and we go there and it’s like, hustle, hustle, hustle. We’re all pretty busy but she always takes the time to say hello and see how we’re doing. If she hears of any problems, if we have any miscommunication in the lockerroom, like our girls’ lockerroom, she’ll have a meeting and make sure that we’re all on the same page, so it’s nice.

Happy Thanksgiving!

10

Another year, another Thanksgiving. Time really does fly, right?

From all of the team here at Diva Dirt, we’d like to say “Happy Thanksgiving” to all of our fans and followers. Thank you for your continued support of Diva Dirt. We truly appreciate it!

Have a fun and safe day!

— Team DD

And as we do every year, below Team DD reveal what we’re thankful for…

Cryssi: I’d like to sit here and bitch, moan, and complain about all the things I don’t have, the fact that men are disgusting, and all women are jealous bitches, but really, what’s the point? The biggest thing I’ve battled with this entire year is negativity and letting it overtake all that is truly good in my life. I have a lot to be thankful for; I’m employed, I have a great support system at home, and I have two of the best friends anyone could ask for. There’s no reason at all for me to be negative when I have so many wonderful things and people around me. Life is short, and everything happens for a reason. Our experiences shape us as people and make us stronger. I’m going to leave you with a passage from Game of Thrones, where Tyrion is talking to Jon Snow. It’s my favorite and has a very good message. “Would you rather be called the Imp? Let them see that their words can cut you, and you’ll never be free of the mockery. If they want to give you a name, take it, make it your own. Then they can’t hurt you with it anymore.” I’m thankful for many things this Thanksgiving, a thick skin for one. Count your blessings, be happy. If you’re reading this you’re in a better position than the vast majority of the world. I need to remember this. God bless. Oh, and I’m also thankful for Dolph Ziggler. :)

Erin: I think this year we’ve really hit our stride, and I’m thankful that everyone involved with the site (staff, visitors, wrestlers) have been committed to making that happen. We’ve been consistently adding new things to our repertoire, and that’s always important, but I think the key to our success is the ability to just keep moving forward, not just concerned about trying to best ourselves. That means keeping a core audience, staying motivated and finding ways to put our connections in the wrestling world to good use. Everyone contributes, from a reader who tweets a link to one of our posts, to those writing the weekly Reduxes, to the wrestlers and promoters who are generous with their time and are a pleasure to do business with. Without those pieces, we wouldn’t have lasted even half this long, so I’m very, very thankful that everyone is ready and willing to play their part.

Melanie: I say it every year, but it really is true — I feel like I have even more to be thankful for than the year before. I can’t believe Diva Dirt is still going strong and still here today. I take it one day at a time and looking back, I’m amazed by all we’ve accomplished. None of that would have been possible without you, the Diva Dirt fans, and the people who put their time and effort into this site every day. Erin, Steven, Cryssi, Bobby, Chenda, Katelyn and everyone else, thanks for your hard work. To the people who visit this site, thank you all for sticking with us for so long. I’m thankful for the wonderful opportunities we’ve received this year — putting on our first match with ChickFight, successfully launching the Diva Dirt Legacy Award, being able to partner up with WSU on iPPV, and so much more. I’m thankful for the women, whether they be Divas, Knockouts or independent wrestlers, who’ve shown their support and willingness to spare some time for us. Happy Thanksgiving!

Steven: First and foremost, I’m thankful for all the ladies who put their bodies on the line day in and day out for our entertainment. I’m thankful for all the Diva Dirt readers (and haters). Without you guys this wouldn’t be possible. I’m thankful for promotions such as SHIMMER, WSU and Pro-Wrestling: EVE for offering an alternative to the mainstream promotions. I’m thankful to my Diva Dirt collegues. Melanie and Erin, thank you for giving me this opportunity and for being great friends. Cryssi, thank you for being the best Khaleesi a hand could ask for. Bobby, Chenda and Katelyn, thanks for being awesome in general and for always helping me out when I need it. Last, but not least, I’m thankful for all the new people I’ve met and the opportunities I’ve been offered this year. Here’s to another great year!

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Former Lingerie Football League Star Debuts in FCW

63

It looks like WWE has signed Lingerie Football League player Danielle Moinet.

Moinet, a native of North Carolina, debuted at an FCW live event last week managing Abraham Washington.

She previously played for the Chicago Bliss team in the LFL and has a degree in marketing.

Upon a quick Google search, one will find that Moinet is a WWE fan and has tweeted Obout the product in the past. “Woohoo the NEWWW WWE Divas Champion @RealKellyKelly!! #RawP2P #WWE,” she wrote back in May.

She posted the following in July: “Man, after hearing the results of last nights #MITB I’m considering all the possibilities for tonight’s Raw!! I can’t wait!#WWE @WWEUniverse.”

Moinet also revealed in an interview earlier this year that she would like to be a WWE Diva. She said: “I’m a huge WWE fan, Monday Night RAW especially. I watched pro-wrestling growing up, but I went to my first taping two years ago, and I was hooked! I sat ringside, got to go backstage and met some of the wrestlers. Everyone was so nice, and it really seemed like one big traveling family. The Divas are not only gorgeous but extremely athletic. Why wouldn’t I wanna be a part of that!”

Beth Phoenix and Natalya Unveil Their Own Magazine “Pin-Up Strong Illustrated”

40

Well, they say if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em — or just Photoshop a magazine cover.

Fresh from Kelly Kelly landing the cover of Maxim, Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Natalya are featured in a funny new video on WWE.com where they unveil their very own magazine, “Pin-Up Strong Illustrated”, which they say has been sold out everywhere. Hmm…

Anyhoo, the Photoshopped cover features a banging picture of the Divas of Doom Sisters of Salvation.

We’d totally buy it if it was real!

Check out the video here.

Two Former Divas Not Happy with Each Other

183

Two former WWE Divas are not very happy with each other and have taken their frustrations to, where else, but Twitter and Facebook!

Recently inducted WWE Hall of Famer Sunny, real name Tammy Sytch, and former WWE/Playboy covergirl Ashley Massaro were at the same event over the weekend, and Sunny reportedly vented on her Facebook page that Ashley failed to greet her.

Sunny wrote:

Ashley Massaro can kiss my hof [sic] ass…not once did she introduce herself to me. Not once and she dressed like a stripper.

Ashley fired back on her Twitter page, writing:

Just a few words I’d like to share this may be a bit long so bear w me. When I arrived at wwe I ALWAYS greeted every single talent there w [sic] the utmost respect and made it a point to shake hands n greet everyone my entire tenure. NOW when some piglet talks smack abt [sic] myself n half the divas roster, and then gets bothered by the fact that I did not do same after she bashed myself and my friends, she can go eat another meatball sub n stay the f away from me. Do you honestly think I respect you after the things you said, well I dont n I hope I’ve made that clear. Mind your own life n ill do the same. You got a problem HIT ME UP! dont cowardly talk about me on ur Facebook or in interviews get a life you beached whale and stop with the jealousy cuz [sic] I see right through u. I love my life my fans my punx n my family. Your just pissed cuz the rest of us u tried to throw under the bus haven’t gained 70 pounds. So hate on hater, I’ll be happy living my life n laughing at ur [sic] poor attempts to make others feel bad. You make urself look so foolish talkin bad about others get some self confidence n maybe a diet. Lol

Yikes! Never a dull day, eh?

Raw Redux (November 21st, 2011): Bam! Bam! It Is What It Is, But What’s Next?

70

Once upon, in a land far away, two Divas stood backstage, viciously playing the new WWE ’12 video game. Kelly Kelly, clad in designer jeans, jerked and yanked at her controller, while she played herself on said video game. Alicia Fox stood at her side, direwolf absent from the top of her head. She was playing as Beth Phoenix, but not faring so well. With every enthusiastic ‘bam, bam’ Alicia as Beth continued to go down. The game paused as the champ and Natalya arrived on the scene. They plugged the game, bragged about beating everyone, not really mentioning Eve. That was it, it was all said and done. Beth and Natalya took their leave. Alicia and Kelly went back to their game…

That was it. It truly was. I was shocked, but not for the reason you’d think. Let’s be honest, last night’s Raw was about two people, the newly crowned WWE Champion, CM Punk, and the delicious United States Champion, Dolph Ziggler. The match they put on last night was simply spectacular, and something all of us need to feel fortunate that we got to see it on free TV. And honestly, having seen it, nothing else really mattered to me last night. That’s why the Divas appearing in a commercial for the new WWE ’12 game didn’t bother me. I actually kind of liked it. Kelly was adorable and both Beth and Natalya fared way better this time. They have a right to brag after Survivor Series. They put Eve out, even if it’s just temporarily, and now they get to move on to whatever challenge awaits them next. Sometimes a pointless backstage segment is a hell of a lot better than a stupid, 48-second BS match. Survivor Series pretty much spoke for itself. Eve took one hellacious bump and it was the right thing to keep her off television. It was also the right thing to just halt the storyline for the time being and leave us all to ponder where DoD and Kelly/Alicia go from here. Should Survivor Series hadn’t gone down the way it had, and had Ziggler/Punk not given us one orgasm of a match, then perhaps Raw could have been different. But alas, what’s happened has been written in stone. And we can’t go back.

But what should happen next?

We have a lot of Divas, but not very many will be pushed. That’s just how it is in Diva-Land. The most obvious scenario in my opinion is that Alicia will get the next crack at DoD. Beth has taken care of Kelly and Eve, so it’s natural that the third member of the model trio gets the next shot. I’m not for or against this, but I think the possibility of an Alicia/Beth match is amazing. We’ve not really seen Foxy in a proper match in quite some time, and with the Divas actually getting time on pay-per-views, I’d be very interested in seeing it. Foxy is underrated as a competitor and Beth has the ability to bring her opponents to a whole nother level. Her matches with Kelly and Eve, two people who are constantly criticized for their so-called lack of skills, were nothing short of amazing. And that’s a testament to Kelly and Eve, as well as Beth. Alicia can only benefit from working with Beth in a couple of lengthy matches. These girls should benefit from working with Natalya as well, but the WWE has seemingly forgotten how to use their third generation Diva. It’s really unfortunate.

Should Alicia not get the rub, then perhaps AJ and Kaitlyn can step up. I refuse to believe the ‘E would do something as stupid as try and split up the Chickbusters, but if it comes to that, then it better be one damn elaborate plan concocted by AJ and Kaitlyn, to throw everyone else off their game. They can have this pretend feud which spills over to DoD when AJ randomly wins a title shot at whatever the December PPV is. Kaitlyn could seemingly help on the AJ beatdowns and make her presence felt in said title match. Botched interference could lead to this shocking victory for AJ, and she could look at Kaitlyn with a smile on her face. Kaitlyn smiles back, they embrace, and hold up AJ’s newly won title, having pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes. I will throw myself at Uncle Truth in Miami — should he not be suspended — if that scenario actually happens (sorry Saint Tyler Black), but it’s not likely. It would be so much fun to watch though.

Whether it’s Alicia or AJ, or maybe Eve or Kelly again, the fact of the matter is, the ‘E needs to add a little spice to DoD. They shouldn’t just be getting pay-per-view victories, and AJ and Kaitlyn don’t need to be the only Divas they can collectively beat as a team. Whoever gets the next shot and whatever direction the ‘E decides to go in, I truly hope they do everyone involved justice and let them have a proper storyline. That said, let’s have a moment of real talk. I think we can all agree that no matter what happens next, the end result of all of this needs to be Beth vs Natalya at WrestleMania. There’s a reason they’ve never faced each other and I like to believe it’s so they can face each other on the grandest stage of them all…

Goosebumps.

And speaking of goosebumps, as well as other immediate reactions, the aforementioned Punk/Ziggler clash is worthy of a spot right here in my Redux. I realize this is not Diva-Dirt-and-Dolph.com (can it please be, Melanie?) but Vickie Guerrero, our favorite manager, got involved. So yes, I’m using that as an excuse to pimp this match to the masses who may not have seen it last night or may want to watch it again. If this were ESPN, it would be an instant classic.

Enjoy my friends. Until next week… Cryssi out!

Video Exclusive: Alicia Talks War Games Match and Feud with Jessicka Havok

WSU’s icon, Alicia, spoke to Diva Dirt this past Saturday at Breaking Barriers 2 just hours ahead of the grueling six-woman War Games match inside the steel cage.

Neither the fans and Alicia alike could prepare for how the night would end as the Midwest Militia brought a machete into the ring and threatened the life of Mercedes Martinez, while Alicia and Brittney Savage lay prone, handcuffed to the ring ropes.

In this interview, filmed prior to that fateful main event, Alicia talks about the match and her fierce rival, leader of the Midwest Militia, Jessicka Havok.

WWE “Not Interested” in Veteran Lucha Star

Former WWE star and current talent scout, Sean Waltman (X-Pac) has revealed that WWE was “not interested” in AAA star Faby Apache, who he recommended to the company recently.

Waltman currently works as a talent scout for WWE, recommending talent to join the company’s developmental league, FCW.

He told PWTorch: “She is the best female worker I’ve seen in maybe the last ten years. It’s just that she’s a little bottom heavy like a lot of the girls down in Mexico that doesn’t fit in with the look WWE is looking for with the Divas division, unfortunately. Trish Says She Would Have Returned to Face Kharma, Addresses “Models vs Wrestlers” Debate

Trish in WWE '12

Seven-time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus returns to WWE’s video game series this fall when she’ll be available — for the first time as a brunette — as a downloadable character in WWE ’12.

Trish spoke to WWE.com about her virtual return to WWE and also weighed in on the current Divas.

Speaking on Kharma, who will be available in the same download pack as Trish’s WWE ’12 character, Trish reveals that she would have come out of retirement to feud with the imposing monster.

WWE.com: The imposing Kharma is also a downloadable character in WWE ’12. Would you have loved to step in the ring with that monster?

TRISH: Oh, completely. When she debuted, I think it was one of the first times since I retired where I would have dropped it all to go back and step into the ring with her. That would have been an epic rivalry. I would have loved to have wrestled her. Hopefully, she’ll come back so the WWE Universe can see more of her.

Trish also discusses the current debate amongst the Divas of “models vs wrestlers”, saying:

I think my M.O. is more in line with that of Beth & Natalya. Once I entered WWE, it was a conscious decision for me to not be about modeling anymore — my career focus was all about what I did in the ring. I can, however, relate to Kelly Kelly & Eve. It’s tough, coming from one industry, to try and be taken seriously in another. That’s when it all comes down to just going out and proving yourself. All those girls are capable of doing that and leaving an impact in any world they decide to rock.

RESISTANCE Pro to Crown Women’s Champion in Debut Show

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan’s new promotion RESISTANCE Pro debuts this Friday in Chicago, and the women’s division will begin with a bang when the company crowns its first Women’s Champion in a gauntlet match.

The participants will include Cheerleader Melissa, who Billy hails as the greatest female wrestler in the world, Sassy Stephie, Simply Luscious, Serenity and more.

Also billed for the event is TNA’s Tara, real name Lisa Marie Varon. It’s not known whether she’ll be wrestling.

In a video posted on the company’s official YouTube page, Billy said that RESISTANCE Pro is “more than determined to make sure that the women’s division is highly represented by some of the best women in the world”. He went on to add that the company “believes in a strong women’s division” and that the women will one day main event a RESISTANCE Pro show.

Survivor Series in Review: The Glam Slam That Shook the World

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix has tweeted several times during her title reign that she will be “Divas Champion forever”, and last night she certainly certainly proved that she’ll do whatever it takes to make that eternal title reign happen — nailing her challenger, Eve Torres, with the biggest Glam Slam in history!

Let’s catch up on all the action…

As Kelly Kelly‘s theme hits, she leads out the entire Divas roster to ringside where they will serve as lumberjills for the Divas Title match. Oddly, they’re all in ring gear which lead me to wonder if the match would be turned into an impromptu Survivor Series elimination match, but alas, it wasn’t to be. Random thought: Oh my, Maxine‘s ring attire could very easily be non-PG.

With that out of the way, it’s time to meet the challenger, Eve, clad in white. Not sure if I like this color on her. But before I can decide, the Glamazon hits the ring with her BFF Natalya in tow.

As Natalya joins the lumberjills at ringside, Eve has a look of sheer determination on her face. She certainly looks like a worthy challenger. The champion confidently walks right up to Eve, hoisting her Divas Title in the air in an intimidating manner as the referee tries to keep the pair apart.

The Divas lock up as the referee calls for the bell and it’s Beth who gets the better of the move, shoving Eve. However, Eve fights right back with a forearm shot to Beth. Beth goes for a forearm of her own but Eve ducks and runs the ropes. She launches herself at Beth, who catches her mid-air and drops her. Beth goes for an elbow drop on Eve but before she can hit it, Eve uses her quickness to cut her off at the feet and Beth lands on the canvas. Eve with a nice strike kick, showing off her martial arts background, and a pin attempt but no dice. Eve again hits another nice kick before showing off her patented booty pop. “Shucky ducky!” Beth rolls out of the ring before Eve can hit her standing moonsault, however. The babyface lumberjills play their part, tossing her back into the ring where Eve goes for a nice neckbreaker. Eve finally gets to hit her standing moonsault and goes for another pin attempt but the mighty Glamazon kicks out.

Beth kicks Eve away as she tries to catch her breath, leaning against the ropes. Eve comes at her but gets tossed over the top rope. Eve, however, doesn’t fall to the piranhas below, instead landing on the apron as the Bella Twins and Natalya clamour around her hoping she lands on the floor. Eve with a shoulder tackle through the ropes on Beth. Natalya tries to pull Eve off the apron but gets kicked away. As Eve re-enters the ring, Beth hits her with a hard kick and begins stomping into her. Beth places Eve under the bottom rope, guillotining her windpipe. The Bellas and Natalya take great glee in this as Beth pulls her back into the ring for a pin attempt but Eve shows resilience and kicks out.

Beth now applies a camel clutch, hoping to make Eve tap out but the challenger continues to hold on. Eve fights her way out of the hold. Beth whips Eve into the ropes, but Eve hangs on. As Beth comes at her, she kicks Beth away. Eve then shows off some lucha-esque, jumping onto Beth and then launching her into the middle turnbuckle. Eve continues to keep the momentum going with a dropkick and back elbow and a hard kick to the face. Eve runs the ropes and hits a nice sit-out clothesline. With Beth down, Eve goes for a running senton splash off the ropes but Beth puts her knees up, which sends Eve down to the mat. Beth goes for the Glam Slam but Eve butt bumps & elbows her way out of it. Eve then applies that beautiful triangle choke submission hold that we saw at Vengeance, as Beth slowly slumps to the mat. Natalya tries to reach out to Beth to help her reach the ropes but the referee catches this. However, Beth finds a counter, flipping out of the hold and holding onto the ropes.

Natalya trash talks Eve from the outside, trying to distract her. She then jumps up on the apron and as Eve goes to knock her off, she quickly jumps down while Beth hurries behind Eve and rolls her up for the pin, but Eve counters into a pin of her own, however, Beth kicks out.

Eve hits Beth with a back elbow and then uses the bottom ring rope for a boost as she hits a nice kick to the side of Beth’s head. Beth looks to be out cold as Eve climbs to the top for the moonsault. As Eve climbs up top, Beth jumps back to her feet, pushing Eve off the top and the challenger lands in a precarious position on the top rope!

Beth climbs up to the second turnbuckle too. The two two exchange some blows, but Beth manages to hook Eve’s arms as we realize what she’s going for… YES! A Glam Slam from the turnbuckle! SUPER GLAM SLAM! And that’s all folks.

Beth emerges victorious as Madison Square Garden comes alive for the biggest Glam Slam in history. Now that’s an MSG moment!

Beth and Natalya celebrate the successful title defense as Kelly and Alicia try to scrape what’s left of Eve from the mat.

Thoughts: While not as long or as technical as their previous bout at Vengeance, I really enjoyed this match. The chemistry between Beth and Eve was once again on show. I feel like we’ve seen Eve’s potential really explode in these two matches with Beth. Every week on Raw or in matches with the likes of the Bella Twins, we see little sparks of Eve’s potential, but being in the ring with a veteran like Beth, she’s able to go balls to the wall and have a great match. We always say that the less experienced girls should be wrestling with the veterans like Beth and Natalya so they can get better and show the world what they can do, and both Eve and Kelly have done that with Beth. Eve is looking more comfortable and confident in the ring than ever before, and I think that Vengeance match last month really solidified her as a “wrestler” and not just a “former Diva Search girl”. Few Divas have been able to really shake off that tag — Michelle McCool is perhaps the best example of doing so — but I think Eve has turned the corner and is now heading in that direction too. Her performance last night was strong.

I would’ve liked to see the match get more time, but I think that they more than compensated that by doing a big spot at the end which will have everyone talking. The two matches between these two have been very different. The last one was long and technical, and this one was short and about the big finish. I think that given the time they were given, they did what they could to have this match as memorable as the last one. You can’t have a great long, technical match given the time, so why not go the other route and do the big finish? The finish was magnificent. There are no other words for it. Madison Square Garden is all about historic moments for WWE, and last night Beth had her historic MSG moment. That’s one for the highlight reel.

Was it better than Vengeance? No. Was it a good Divas match, however? Certainly, yes!

Match Rating: 3.5/5

Survivor Series: Beth Phoenix Retains with a Super-Sized Glam Slam!

95

Madison Square Garden was rocked indeed tonight at Survivor… and not just by The Rock!

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix retained her championship over Eve Torres in a big way, hitting her patented Glam Slam on Eve  from the second turnbuckle.

In a lumberjill match with the other Divas surrounding the ring, Beth reigned supreme at the pay per view where she returned one year ago. And much like last year, Beth and Natalya celebrated the victory, only this time it was Beth holding the championship.

What did you think of the match?

WWE Survivor Series Discussion Post

WWE Survivor Series Predictions: Beth Phoenix vs Eve Torres

99

It’s round two tonight as Beth Phoenix once again puts the Divas Championship on the line against Eve Torres. Can Eve exact some revenge or will Beth’s reign continue? The Diva Dirt team weigh in…

Bobby: Well, to start, I absolutely hate that this became a lumberjill match and it wouldn’t surprise me if WWE executives thought to themselves “Wow, Eve and Beth put on such a great match at Vengeance…we can’t have that happen again so let’s make it a lumberjill match out of nowhere”. Nonetheless, I hope the two can put on the same quality of match with all the Divas at ringside. I’m going to be honest when I say that I’m personally not enjoying Beth’s time as champion, and I would love to see Eve get an actual reign with the title. Who knows whether or not WWE would give it to her. Personally rooting for the philanthropic, Rubik’s Cube solving Eve Torres to win, and I hope the lumberjills don’t cost her by accident.

Cryssi: I’m 50/50 on this, it could go either way. They’ve done nothing with Beth as champ, and both times Eve was champion, they did nothing with her. I think we’ve reached the point where the Divas are forced to linger in limbo. They had a hot few months, but now it’s just kind of stopped abruptly. They’re getting their random two or three minutes here and there, but that’s it. It sucks and it’s sad. And when so little effort is put forth, a title change could just happen to happen. I’ve got to pick a winner, so I’m going with the Beth Phoenix, hoping an eventual feud between herself and Nattie manifests, but if Eve wins, I won’t be shocked.

Katelyn: Beth Phoenix. Eve, Kelly & Alicia have proven to be a strong force thus far but I still see the Glamazon picking up the win, probably with the aid of Natalya.

Melanie: This has the potential to be a great match to follow up the bout at Vengeance, but with the lumberjills at ringside, I doubt it’ll live up to its predecessor. I really feel like the lumberjills are being added to make the match more “girly” and less technical like their match at Vengeance. They want to see the girls pulling each others’ hair in high heels and such, and then do the big predictable brawl with all the girls at the end. Sigh. However, I think Beth Phoenix will win.

Who do you think will win tonight at Survivor Series?
