No Rosa or Tamina in WWE ’12

23

A THQ employee on Twitter has confirmed that Divas Rosa Mendes and Tamina will not be part of the upcoming WWE ’12 video game, either on the main roster or as downloadable content.

Responding to fans on Twitter, @THQ_Tank responded to a question about Rosa being in the game: “Rosa Mendes is not in the game this year, she is a @WWE beautiful diva, we’ll see for next year.”

Later responding to a question about Tamina and the Usos, he said: “No, apologies.”

THQ previously confirmed that more Divas will be available as downloadable content. It looks like that’ll include Alicia Fox and the Bella Twins.

Rosita on NBC’s “Children of 9/11” Tonight, Watch A Clip…

4

As a reminder: Impact Wrestling’s Rosita will be on NBC’s “Children of 9/11” tonight.

The documentary follows children who lost their parents during 9/11 who have gone onto accomplish their dreams. The official press release reads:

[notice]On September 11, 2001, over 3000 children lost a father or a mother. They come from many different walks of life, but are united by a terrifying shared experience. On Monday, September 5th at 10 pm ET, NBC will present “Children of 9/11,” a riveting special which gives a voice to the young people directly affected by this terrible event. The special follows a year in the lives of some of these children, watching them overcome the loss and turn their lives around, by achieving ambitions that would make their parents proud.

For the first time, this special gives a voice to the young people directly affected by 9/11. A bitter twist of fate has indelibly linked their childhood to the worst terrorist attack of modern times. As the film interweaves their stories, home movie footage creates intimate portraits of the families, both before and after the event. Powerful interviews reveal the tough and inspiring personal journeys that the children have taken.[/notice]

Rosita — real name Thea Trinidad — lost her father when she was just 10 years old during the attacks.

Now 20, Rosita is a current TNA Knockout and former Knockouts Tag Team Champion.

The press release features this heartbreaking log-line about Rosita’s story: “The special follows a year in the lives of 11 children from six families across America, including Thea Trinidad, who at 10 years old couldn’t understand why her father was calling to say goodbye.”

As we previously reported, NBC filmed Rosita’s TNA tryout which took place this past January for this documentary.

The documentary will be narrated by Law & Order star, Mariska Hargitay.

Brie Bella Says She Knows How Fans Feel About Divas Division, Mentions Released Divas & Sara Del Rey

103

Former Divas Champion Brie Bella is the latest Diva to weigh in on today’s Diva drama.

Following sister Nikki‘s feisty retaliation to a WWE.com article posted earlier today, Brie took a softer approach, saying she knows how fans feel when it comes to the Divas division and even mentioned the names of several released Divas and Sara Del Rey.

She wrote on the twins’ Twitter page:

Wow, I just woke up to the craziness! The words spoken by Katie are laughable, but I’m a women who will stand for what I believe in…so…

I know what I’ve given to the fans and that’s all what matters. WWE might think your a bunch of puppets that are persuaded by their words..

I know how you all feel :) good and bad, I love it! I mean if WWE cared about Divas why do we have such little time on tv?

Why were divas such as Mickey James, Melina and Gail Kim released. Why aren’t wrestlers like Sara Del Ray hired? All amazing!…….

Kelly Kelly and myself have worked to hard to have an unknown, untalented writer say the things she did. Katie (whoever) [author of the article] Suck it! Love Brie

Thoughts: I have to agree with Brie on tweets 2, 3 and 4. She definitely said what the fans are thinking and her knowledge of Del Rey gets a +1. However, the article in question didn’t necessarily give the author’s personal opinion, rather stated what fans were thinking. I think everyone needs to really read over that article again. The author doesn’t try to diss Kelly or Brie, or the success they’ve had, but does state that some of WWE’s ‘purist’ Diva fans took offense.

Eve & Kelly: Voices of Reason

With the storm calming down, Eve Torres and Divas Champion Kelly Kelly added some extra two cents regarding the whole brouhaha surrounding WWE.com’s article on the Divas.

Eve wrote on her Twitter:

And trust that that’s not taking anything away from @natbynature or @thebethphoenix. Everyone is equally dedicated to taking the Divas division to the next level!

Meanwhile, Kelly tweeted:

#divas we’re just doing what we love, entertaining every week. We’ve all worked very hard to get here. just wish all this hate would go away.

Thoughts: Again, I feel the article was about the storyline and the reactions it has received from ‘purist’ fans. I don’t think it’s a diss to any of the women and how hard they’ve worked.

The Bella Twins’ Mom & Brother Weigh In…

26

Like a good mama bear protecting her cubs, the Bella Twins’ mom Kathy Colace has weighed in on the storm surrounding the article posted on WWE.com earlier today.

On her Twitter page, Kathy wrote:

@thebellatwins @RealKellyKelly @EveMarieTorres How embarrassing that WWE allows one of their own writers dis a division they have built.

Meanwhile, the twins’ brother JJ Garcia, also wrote on his Twitter page:

#BellaArmy WWE is hating on the @thebellatwins when they are the most athletic and beautiful divas let @WWE know what you think #BellaArmy

Tweeting the author of the article, WWE.com’s Katie Raymond, he added:

how do you even have a job under minding the diva division.Who talks shit on there own company Pretty pathetic for your company

Thoughts: Normally, I would agree that WWE is undermining/dissing its own division, but I feel the WWE.com article (perhaps not some of the Twitter responses from the Divas) was to push the storyline. Most of the articles on WWE.com continue storylines. Besides, I think WWE has done worse to diss the division they’ve built i.e. having Michael Cole interrupt matches.

And let’s not lose sight of the fact that the article did clearly state that the Divas division does not need saving.

Holy crap! Nikki Bella, never one to mince her words, opened fire over on the Bella Twins’ Twitter regarding the “Does the Divas division need saving?” article that was published earlier today.

RELATED: Divas Respond to WWE.com Article

Nikki wrote:

Wow @WWE definitely woke up 2 an embarrassing article you wrote… Well u wanted to know everyone’s thoughts @WWEUniverse, Here’s Nikki B’s…

First off…. Um you want me to slap you with all of my awards and championships I have won? I was a #1 athlete… Which other Diva was?

Secondly, Bri & @RealKellyKelly have been the only entertainment that has happened 2 the Diva’s Division & have worked harder than anyone!

Thirdly, I’ve seen 2 girls the past few weeks try as hard as they can to be “models” while us “models” have busted our butts…..

Oh and good luck with the up and coming Divas…. Sure you’ll make a lot of money with them…. Um actually NOT!

Lastly, @RealKellyKelly & Us are better than anyone in the past so Katie Raymond check your self and come read this article to my face! NB

Did you get all that?

Thoughts: We knew that the article was going to ruffle some feathers, but Nikki’s reaction is perhaps the most entertaining yet. Of course the Divas can say they’re acting in character and get away with it, but with a situation like this, you have to think that the comments are somewhat personal too. However, instead of pitting the ‘model Divas’ against the ‘wrestler Divas’, perhaps we should direct our attention to the real issue — the way WWE uses them. There’s no reason why they can’t all have interesting storylines, feuds and matches. WWE does its best, for some reason, to restrict the potential that all of the Divas have.

Vince McMahon Promises Mae Young a Match When She Turns 100!

14

Yes, you read that right.

WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young, who competed in a match on Raw last year at the ripe old age of 87, has revealed that Vince McMahon has promised her a match to celebrate her 100th birthday.

PWTorch reports that Mae is quoted in the latest WWE Magazine as saying: “I plan on wrestling when I’m 100. My grandmother lived to be 113, so I figure I can make it into the ring when I’m 100. Vince promised me a match with his daughter, Stephanie, and his granddaughter, Aurora Rose, when I’m 100-years-old. I’ve got to live to see that.”

Mae celebrated her 88th birthday in March. Only 12 more years to go…

It looks like the “Divas division needs saving” article has ruffled a few feathers in Camp Diva. A few of the girls have responded to the article via Twitter.

Former Divas Champ, Eve Torres writes:

@WWE I’d love to step into the ring whomever wrote this, & c who needs saving. #Iwillbootypopinyourfacethenmakeyoutap

Don’t ever let anyone undermine your hard work, label your character, or set limits to your potential. #BeliEVE!

Diva of Doom, Beth Phoenix added:

Its not the Divas Division that needs saving, but the WWE Universe. Myself and @NatbyNature are on a mission to make you change your minds..

As long as I can remember I have worked my butt off and been underappreciated while the crowd adores @RealKellyKelly and @EveMarieTorres…

I am tired of looking and being the best and being passed over time and time again. Im done asking for approval. And just getting started proving my point. #DivasofDoom

Thoughts: Two very different opinions here. One side arguing that the ‘model Divas’ work hard for their spots, the other side arguing that the ‘wrestler Divas’ get overlooked for the models. I’m guessing we’ll see even more Divas chime in as the day continues.

Tell us what you think in the comments!

WWE.com Discusses Whether the Divas Division Needs Saving

60

Interesting article on WWE.com discussing the recent rise of the Divas of Doom and the positive reaction they’ve received from ‘purist’ women’s wrestling fans. The article goes on to argue whether or not the Divas division needs saving from ‘model’ Divas.

Read excerpt below:

Stinkfaces. Booty poppin’. If you’re a purist about a woman’s place inside the WWE ring, you must be wondering what Fabulous Moolah is thinking looking down on the Divas division. Would the iconic figure chalk up the current flux of the division on changing times, or would she say, “Someone needs to save this”?

Beth Phoenix and Natalya, the “Divas of Doom,” think so. However, are The Glamazon and third-generation Diva just the two women to call “saviors”?

First, Brie Bella wins the Divas Championship. Diva purists cringed. Then, Kelly Kelly – who has improved markedly inside the ring – netted the butterfly title. Diva purists started pointing fingers and lashing out. This can’t be happening. Not in a division that has seen the likes of Moolah, Trish Stratus, Lita and Melina bear the Women’s Title. How are these “model” Divas getting their names etched in the history books? Do only “pretty faces” matter?

Thoughts: This is perhaps one of the most conscious articles about the Divas that has popped up on WWE.com in quite a while.

What do you make of it?

Impact Write-Up (September 1st, 2011): A New VP, A New Champion and One Disgruntled Knockouts Division

43

Let me first say that if I don’t seem as enthusiastic as normal, I apologize. I’ve been sick all week, haven’t had a voice for pretty much the entire time and I have pretty much no energy. I almost took the week off from the write-up but I’m going to push through it and see what we’ve got. Today, being Saturday, is the first time I’ve even turned my laptop on since Monday. I didn’t watch the show until I started writing this so, like I said, please forgive me.

Last week, we got an eyeful of cray cray that just wouldn’t let go. We had a handful of backstage segments that left us all fearing for our sleep patterns. I know I got rid of my mini blinds after last week, I can say that. One major effective segment we saw backstage was in regards to Knockout Law, the past and what could be the future. Traci Brooks has been campaigning toward Eric Bischoff in regards to her Knockout Law run for a couple of weeks now. Last week, they were set to meet over drinks and this week, Bischoff has one huge announcement. Where I am not a fan of Bischoff by any means, I am curious to see what the dirty old man big man on campus has to say. And we’re going to get just that, starting off the show for the Knockouts. All of the Knockouts except Madison Rayne, that is.

Bischoff comes to the ring with Traci at his side, strolling down the ramp like a couple of newlyweds, which is nauseating. All the other Knockouts are in teh ring, trying to figure out just what the hell is going on. Bischoff starts off by saying that he has never had the opportunity to work with such a tremendous group of talented individuals and, for once, I agree with him. The Knockouts are indeed highly talented and deserve the recognition. He continues on, praising their hard work but it all comes to a screeching halt when he continues flapping that fat lip. He states that it doesn’t change the fact that they are all women. We know how it is? He states that women don’t know how to keep their mouths shut, can’t stay focused, always catfighting and whining. Sexual innuendos.

Speaking of, insert some of those creepy slowly spoken words and facial expressions here. Ugh.

Bischoff states that Traci proved to him that only a woman can control a woman. And after all the long, hard hours and work put in, he has come to a decision. Traci is so excited that she looks like she might just pee a little bit. All the Knockouts are behind them with serious “what the…” looks on their faces. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing to you the new VP of the Knockouts division…”Traci, do me a favor and go stand in the corner.” Um…what?!

KAREN JARRETT!!!

The collective “WHAT THE EFF?!” that just went around the ring has me so amused that I can’t stand it. Traci is besides herself after all she went through to try and secure that position but Bischoff is a snake, waiting in the grass for prey. He always has been and always will be. If you paid attention, Traci, you would have known so much better. Karen Jarrett, accompanied to the ring by Big Daddy, comes out in a shimmery gold number that looks like it belongs on a table at Christmas. She is proud of her new position, but the Knockouts not so much. What the hell are you smoking on, Bischoff?!

Karen, never shy on the microphone, thanks Eric for making the right decision and just as he is, she is proud of every woman in the ring. But they both know, they have a long way to go. Cut to Traci, who is being coddled/held back by Velvet Sky and looks like she wants to gut Bischoff. Can you blame her? Karen loves to lay salt to the wound and tells the Knockouts that the difference between them is etiquette. She’s a lady and they obviously are not. There’s a rough road ahead of them but they will walk with honor, dignity and respect. Right now, if Madison Rayne were there, she would be shrieking above them all and weighing over the BS flying out of Karen’s mouth. Wherefore art thou, Moody Madi?!

Sigh. Anyway, on to the first official matter of business. ODB and Jacqueline are officially full-time members of the TNA roster. But they will address those…gestures of celebration later. Traci, oh poor Traci, who really, really put herself out there for this position. Three times, according to Skeezer Bischoff. Karen tells Traci that there is still a place for her in the company, right where she belongs…beneath her. She will be her executive assistant. Pan over to the bitchy look on Brooke Tessmacher‘s face and it pretty much sums it up. Because the shit that Karen is putting out there, I can’t even. Red or white wine? Mercedes or Escalade, ma’am? Who’s the Queen? Traci has to drop everything and….WHAT?! Oh hell no. Why can’t Rosita take off her hula hoop earrings now and go all ghetto?! We need it! Do it!

I guess none of them want to go back to Larry’s Cabaret, where Karen says they belong, sliding up and down that shiny pole. So, with everything being said, she thanks Eric one last time and tells the Knockouts she looks forward to each and every one of them serving her. Especially Traci, whom she demands holds the ropes for her, much to her aggravation. This is wonderful. Any hope I had for the Knockouts division just diminshed.

Moving on from that crapshoot to the continuing cray cray, later on we’re backstage with the Knockouts Champion, Winter and her lady lush, Angelina Love. They’re back to drinking their blood wine, reminiscing on old incarnations but relishing the one they are currently in. Winter tells Angelina that this one is the most precious to her and if that little mouse tries to take it away, she will suck the life blood right out of her. Oh. So that’s what you’ve taken to drinking. I can’t help but wonder, does it stain the wine glass? Are they dishwasher safe? Just curious. I guess with all that feasting on rotting bones, you don’t really care about keeping up with the dishes, eh?

Flash over to Mickie James, who is looking pretty fierce in her new attire with the feathers in her hair. She says she has a comment and it’s the fact she is sick of Winter’s voodoo magic bullshit. All the spitting of blood, or whatever it was in her face. She is going to go out there and wrestle her ass off and they are going to find out if Winter can hang with her. They’re going to find out what kind of Knockouts Champion that Winter really is so she best bring her A-game. ROAR!

HARDCORE COUNTRY! The championship return match that we knew was coming is finally here. Mickie is out the ring first, but for some reason Taz and Mike Tenay are talking about a returning Jeff Hardy. Newsflash! No one gives a damn. Pay attention to what’s going on in front of you. Last to the ring is Winter, accompanied by Angelina who has frickin’ bats on her shirt. Well, I guess that gives new meaning to batshit crazy, huh? It’s fitting. I have to say that I am loving the new stage setup and I think they need to keep it. Anyway, the match is starting and I’m dazing off into Neverland. Mickie wants to start this match off strong but Winter leans out of the ropes, cutting her off before she can get to her. Of course.

Into the struggling lock-up and Winter is rolling all over the ring, trying to get away from Mickie the Mouse. But who can resist a game of peaknuckle, even in the wrestling world? Winter goes back in, hands out and the game is on until a roll-up comes out of nowhere. Thankfully, it’s no good but Mickie isn’t backing down because she didn’t get the count. She stays on Winter and truly, the exchanges speak for themselves. I shouldn’t even have to put them into words. As a matter of fact, I think you should truly be watching this match between two top female competitors instead of reading this. Just like Angelina should have been. If she had been paying attention to the match, instead of trying to rip out Mickie’s hair feathers and tossing the belt to Winter, she wouldn’t have been shoved to the back by Earl Hebner.

Wait a minute. Is that a CM Punk shirt in the audience?! THAT IS A NEW CM PUNK SHIRT IN THE TNA AUDIENCE! My life is made. I can die happy now. /freakout

Sorry about that. Easily distracted, I tell you. But Winter is not, even with Angelina being sent to the back, she stays on Mickie. She grinds her face against the mat and drives those knees between her shoulder blades. But the crowd is behind Mickie, hell, even SoCal Val is standing up and cheering her on and it gives her enough power to come back. She fights against Winter and manages to lock in a knee lock submission of some type, but Winter reaches the ropes to break it. However, Mickie keeps a bag of tricks and lifts Winter up, dropping her flat on her back against the canvas. Multiple clothesline takedowns with an elbow for good measure, but Winter has one of her own. A flapjack slam from Mickie who looks to go for the DDT but it’s a definite no-go. Both women runs, take hold of hair and SLAM! both women are down. Um. Ouch.

But Mickie is up first, only to get a rake to the eyes from Winter’s claws. A pick-up to go for a slam and Mick fights out, goes for a roll-up and the exchange…deep breath! No good for either attempt. However, it lays opening for that DDT and you almost miss it if you aren’t paying attention, which you should be. Mickie goes for the cover and drained of energy, Winter hardly gets her foot against the rope, going for the under venture. Hebner catches it in time and Mickie almost can’t believe it. She keeps her eyes on the official, picking Winter up and doesn’t see the defending champion hit that walk-up enzuigiri kick until it’s too late. That quick foot against the temple and Mickie just falls back like a cement wall being pushed over. TIMBER!!!

Winter goes for a pin, a little late if you ask me and doesn’t quite get the count well enough. But she is clever and removed her arm warmer, ready to use it as a choking device. Yet, even in his old age, Earl Hebner can see what is meant to be hidden and catches her before it goes into play. A small struggle and as soon as she turned around…MICK KICK! and she’s down for the count. One. Two. Three! Mickie James has won back the Knockouts Championship in Huntsville, Alabama! Winter is bleeding from the mouth and with a kindly swipe, Mickie holds it up for the world to see. I’m not sure why but um, okay.

I can’t really say that I’m too happy about this win either. I like Mickie in TNA, so much more than I did in WWE. However, I was looking forward to seeing what Winter could do with that championship. She JUST won like two weeks ago and now she’s already lost. It makes no sense. I won’t even pretend to understand the logic. I think she would have made an incredible champion but I guess now we won’t see that. As for Karen, I think I said all I need to say. Again, I apologize for a lackluster performance on my part. As I’m wrapping this up, I’m preparing to go back to my bed to potentially sleep off some more of this mess. Until next week, my lovies. xoxo

PWA Australia Results (September 2nd, 2011): Nicole Matthews’ Australian Debut & More

Prior to the all-female PWWA show which takes place tonight, the girls of the company competed for brother promotion PWA Australia last night.

Both shows are being held at the same venue, the Liverpool Masonic Centre in Liverpool, NSW, Australia.

Last night’s show saw the Australian debut of SHIMMER’s Nicole Matthews ahead of her PWWA debut tonight in the SHIMMER Championship match, plus there was also an eight-woman tag team match.

Results below courtesy of Diva Dirt’s Katelyn.

* Jessie McKay, Kellyanne English, Evie and Megan-Kate def. Madison Eagles, Kellie Skater, JPE and Britenay in an eight woman tag match. Match was really fast paced and exciting. English and all of the New Zealanders were impressive in their debuts.

* Nicole Matthews def. Shazza McKenzie. This was the semi-main event.

Stay tuned for live coverage of the PWWA show at 6.30pm local time (4.30am ET/9.30am UK).

Live Coverage from Australia: PWWA Featuring Madison Eagles, Nicole Matthews, Jessie McKay & Kellie Skater

Diva Dirt’s Katelyn brings live coverage from today’s PWWA show in Liverpool, NSW, Australia.

The event will feature the SHIMMER Championship being defended for the first time overseas in the main event as Madison Eagles defends in a triple threat match against Nicole Matthews and Jessie McKay.

Keep refreshing for the latest results.

* Pre-show match: JT Robinson and Jack Bonza vs. Robbie Eagles and William Kidd in tag action. Jack Bonza picked up the win for his team.

* It was announced that the show is being filmed for DVD and Internet pay-per-view.

* Britenay (NZ) vs. Shazza McKenzie to open the womens show. Very entertaining bout that the crowd was into. Shazza McKenzie won the match after hitting the Shaztastic Stunner.

* The next scheduled match was supposed to be Bombshell Bo vs. KC Cassidy. Queensland’s Minx and Cassidy (on crutches and wearing a knee brace) made their way to the ring. Cassidy announced that she had not been cleared to wrestle by her doctors and that her replacement to wrestle Bo would be Minx. Cassidy interfered toward the end of the match and hit Bo with one of her crutches but Bo persevered to win the match.

* Tag team action was up next with Harley Wonderland and JPE (NZ) taking on Victoria‘s Eliza Sway and Kellyanne English. Notable moment early in the match was when English did a dive to the outside onto both Wonderland and JPE. English took the beatdown for most of the match but made a comeback and the hot tag to Sway. In the end, Sway picked up the win for her team.

* Savannah Summers entered the ring next but hid in the crowd, and when her opponent Megan-Kate (NZ) made her way out, she attacked her from behind. Megan-Kate scored the victory and Savannah left the ring to “you suck” chants.

* Intermission.

* “The Rate Tank” Kellie Skater vs. Evie (NZ) is up next to ring back in the action after a short break. Evie takes the win after an impressive, hard-hitting match!

* Time for the main event! Canada’s Nicole Matthews vs. “Everybody’s Favourite Girlfriend” Jessie McKay vs. champion Madison Eagles for the SHIMMER title. Match started with a triple headlock spot, and was followed by a three-person roll-up. Continued with a series of hard-hitting, high impact moves and impressive reversals. Huge McKay fan following in the building. Madison hit the Hellbound on Nicole Matthews and retains the championship after an excellent match. All girls receive a lengthy round of applause for their efforts.

PWA Australia’s next show will be taking place on October 7 at the Liverpool Masonic Center.

SHIMMER Championship Match
Three Way
Madison Eagles (c) v Jessie McKay v Nicole Matthews

During early 2010, Madison Eagles began her road to eventually unseat MsChif and become the third SHIMMER Champion. At that same time, rising female stars Jessie McKay and Nicole Matthews also began a competitive rivalry with one another in SHIMMER action.

Having followed similar paths in different parts of the world, both young athletes enjoyed success early in their respective careers, with McKay earning the PWWA Championship in Australia while Matthews secured the ECCW SuperGirls Championship in Canada. The two crossed paths with one another in the United States during Jessie’s SHIMMER debut, and then again in a singles bout on SHIMMER Volume 30. On both of those occasions, Nicole scored the pinfall. A singles rematch soon followed, which resulted in McKay getting her hand raised in victory.

Though Matthews was the first of the two to achieve a SHIMMER Championship (the Tag Team Championship with partner Portia Perez as “The Canadian Ninjas”), McKay was the first to work her way into a shot against the SHIMMER Champion, as she took on Madison in the main event of SHIMMER Volume 35. Eagles handed Jessie the loss, courtesy of her signature Hell Bound maneuver, much like Madison has been able to do against a who’s who of title challengers including Cheerleader Melissa, Ayumi Kurihara, Mercedes Martinez, and Ayako Hamada. The rivalry between McKay and Matthews has continued, with both tag team battles and a 2 out of 3 falls contest against one another earlier this year.

On September 3rd, 2011, history will be made as not only will the PWWA present its return event, but it will also mark the first time that the SHIMMER Championship will be on the line in a bout held outside of the United States! It was previously announced that Nicole Matthews will make her PWWA debut on September 3rd. PWWA and SHIMMER management have now agreed that, due to the even rivalry between McKay and Matthews in SHIMMER, both wrestlers are worthy of the opportunity to challenge Madison Eagles for the SHIMMER Championship. Thus, the first SHIMMER Title Match not held on American soil will see two of the top young female stars from different parts of the wrestling world both attempt to take the Championship from one of the most dominant women in the industry today in a three-way bout!

Singles Match
‘Rate Tank’ Kellie Skater v Evie (NZ)

PWWA original and SHIMMER star Kellie Skater made her way to the main event of PWWA’s last Tournament show, and pinned Madison Eagles after a brutal no DQ match, which left her the “Last Woman Standing”. Coming Sept 3rd, Skater will be looking to prove her growing dominance in women’s wrestling by taking on the debuting New Zealander. Evie comes to PWWA from IPW in New Zealand, and is a standout talent in the Kiwi’s Women’s Division. Young, talented, and fast improving, Evie will be sure to put up a strong fight against the Worldly travelled ‘Rate Tank’.

The PWWA event will be held at 6:30pm on September 3rd, 2011 at the home of PWA Australia, Liverpool Masonic Centre, Liverpool, NSW. Over 15 female wrestlers will be competing in the largest women’s wrestling event Australia has ever seen. Show DVDs will be available soon after the event for online purchasing.

Audrey Marie defeats FCW Divas Champion Aksana to become the new FCW Divas Champion with a rollup after countering a spinebuster.

A segment in the back is shown with Briley trying to interview Aksana but she is unable to talk because she is crying about her loss. Husky Harris stops by and he tells Aksana that she got what she deserved. Aksana tries to apologize and then she hugs Husky but she has a devious look on her face.

October 2nd, 2011

Maxine was in the back with Richie Steamboat and she tells Richie that he will face Brad Maddox again but this time Richie is banned from using the super kick because of what he has done to Brad in the past. After Maxine leaves, Aksana stops by to wish Richie luck.

** Note from Bobby: This is possibly Irena Janjic who goes by Leah West but I’m not 100% sure.

Thoughts: Woooowwwww, I dont even know where to start here. A lot of action in these three episodes. I guess I’ll start with the news that we have a new champion. I’m not sure how I feel about this. The title definitely needed new life, but from what I have seen Audrey is still very new to this. To be fair though,I’ll have to see how she is in the ring currently because there is a large span of time since the matches we’ve seen (I mean her debut was taped in May even though it didn’t air until recently) and the matches being taped now. Nonetheless, congrats to Audrey, and it’s good to see they are finally breathing new life into the division.

It’s interesting to see Caylee Turner and AJ Lee each on commentary, perhaps they are asserting that Audrey has a target on her back and everyone is vying for her. I like it! The Ascention stable is one I’ve heard extremely good things about, and I can’t wait for this video package to air. I have no idea why Cameron Lynn & Byron Saxton are managing Naomi unless a stable is being formed, but I’m excited to see her face off against (possibly) Irena Janjic in her debut. I’m not sure I agree with everything 100% but I’m just happy we are finally building to an actual division again.

Mickie James Regains Knockouts Championship

112

Just three weeks after losing the belt at Hardcore Justice, Mickie James defeated Winter on tonight’s Impact Wrestling to become the Knockouts Champion once again.

In a rematch, Winter’s first title defense, Mickie beat the champion with the Long kiss Goodnight kick after controlling much of the match. James seemingly had the match won earlier when she hit her patented tornado DDT on Winter but the champ managed to put her foot on the rope breaking up a three count. However, Winter wasn’t as lucky in escaping Mickie’s kick.

The title switch was taped last Thursday in Huntsville, Alabama.

Her latest title win makes Mickie an eight-time champion, having won the WWE Women’s Championship on five occasions, the Divas Championship on one occasion and now the Knockouts Title on two occasions. That gives her the most title reigns of any Diva/Knockout in recent memory, besting Trish Stratus‘ seven championship reigns. However, Trish still holds a record for multiple title reigns with one championship.

Thoughts: Congrats to Mickie on setting a record with the eight title reigns. However, I thought we were over the pointless title switches and passing the Knockouts Title belt around like a hot potato? Evidently not. Not sure why the belt was put back on Mickie so quickly, but I’m disappointed to see that Winter wasn’t even given the opportunity to have a decent run with the belt. In my opinion, she’s come a long way and developed into a great character in TNA and could be a great heel to build the division around.

Karen Jarrett Named VP of Knockouts Division

13

On tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling, Eric Bischoff named the woman now in charge of the Knockouts — but it wasn’t Traci Brooks.

Despite lobbying Bischoff for the position of Knockout Law in recent weeks, a role Traci previously held in 2009, the new role was awarded to another Knockout: Karen Jarrett.

That means Karen is now in charge, on screen anyway, of the Knockouts division.

Her first order of business was announcing that Jackie and ODB had earned their contracts after several weeks of trying to get on the TNA roster, and are now full-fledged Knockouts. She also appointed Traci as her new assistant.

What do you think of Karen being in charge of the Knockouts division?

Maryse Update

26

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former Divas Champion Maryse could be returning “in the next week or so”.

Maryse had abdominal surgery last week for a hernia that has been troubling her in recent weeks.

Following her surgery, she provided a status update via her Facebook page, writing:

I am home now, and feeling good, still very tired from the anesthesia, but its normal, i will be posting pics of my tummy when they remove the bandages, my doctor did an amazing job and the scar should be very small in my belly button! be sexy

Here’s to a speedy recovery.

Top Diva Turning Heel?

100

Could a top WWE Diva be turning heel in the near future?

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been discussion about turning either Divas Champion Kelly Kelly or Eve Torres heel and having them feud against each other.

The Observer notes that no decision has been made yet regarding which Diva would turn heel, however.

Thoughts: I’d personally pick Eve to turn on Kelly. Kelly has a strong fanbase so turning her heel doesn’t seem like a very good move, but it’s worth taking the risk with Eve and adding new shades to her character.

And if WWE is planning a feud between K2 and Eve, does this spoil the eventual outcome of the Beth/Kelly feud?

SmackDown Redux (August 30th, 2011): Divas of Doom Super Indeed on SuperSmackDown

75

Welcome to a very special SUPER SmackDown Redux! This week, the Divas of Doom (Natalya and Beth Phoenix) take on the team of Alicia Fox and the Divas Champion, Kelly Kelly in tag team action (with Aksana as ring announcer!). Can DOD back up their words and put Kelly and Alicia in their places or will the champ come out on top once again? Check out the match below:

Out first are the Divas of Doom, looking stoic as usual. While Nattie is in her usual pink and black attire, Beth is sporting a darker, more subdued version of her SummerSlam gear and it looks pretty good. Kelly and the newly babyfaced Alicia Fox are out next, playing to the crowd. Is it just me or are Alicia’s face mannerisms nearly identical to her heel ones? Ahem. Anyhoo…

Both teams take their places and the official signals for the bell, kicking off our tag team match for the night. Kelly and Natalya start the match for their respective teams with a lockup. Natalya muscles Kelly into the corner, prompting the referee to call for the break. While Nattie is distracted, Kelly slaps her across the face, which only upsets her. Nattie goes for a clothesline, but Kelly dodges and takes her down with a Thesz Press, followed by a few punches.

After a stiff forearm, Kelly attempts to whip Nattie across the ring, but it gets reversed. Kelly goes for a headscissors out of the corner, but Natalya catches her and drops her flat out her face, turning the tide of the match. With the champion dazed, Natalya drags her to her corner and tags in the Glamazon.

The Divas of Doom keep the heat on Kelly Kelly, flattening her with a double team shoulder block for a near fall. Frustrated, Beth Phoenix throws Kelly onto the second rope and starts pounding on her. The referee manages to pull her away, which gives Natalya a chance to land a cheap kick to the face of the champion, allowing Beth to get another near fall.

Kelly tries to fight out of the grasp of the Glamazon, but Beth quickly puts an end to that and lifts Kelly up for a slam. Fortunately for Kelly, she manages to escapes and makes the hot tag to the fresh Alicia Fox.

Beth tries to cut Alicia off at the pass with a clothesline, but Alicia blocks it and sends her reeling with a forearm. Taking full advantage of Phoenix rare moment of weakness, Alicia heads to the top rope and lands a high crossbody. Beth tries to slow Fox’s momentum by reversing her Irish Whip, but Alicia leaps to the second rope and land a (slightly awkward) back elbow, taking Beth off of her feet once again.

With Beth incapacitated, Alicia knocks Natalya off of the apron, before taking landing a high kick to the head of Beth Phoenix. Alicia launches herself off of the ropes, looking to finish Phoenix off with a scissor kick, but gets blasted with a double axe-handle to the chest. Wasting no time, Beth lifts Alicia off of the mat and lays her out with a Glam Slam, picking up the win for her team.

Pretty good match for the Divas on this week’s SmackDown. I really thought Kelly did a good job as the babyface in peril. She took the brunt of the offense from Beth and Nattie and didn’t need to resort to her typical moveset, which is a refreshing change of pace. I thought things got a bit awkward and sloppy when Alicia hit the ring, but I’ll chalk it up to her adjusting to a different moveset as a babyface for now.

As always, Beth and Nattie were great in the ring, but as characters I feel like they’re slowly but surely becoming all sizzle, but no steak. If the Divas of Doom are going to be a dominant force in the Divas division, they need to do something big. Standing on the ramp clapping and the occasional vignette just isn’t cutting it anymore.

With only three weeks left until Night of Champions, I hope WWE can really give us some real direction and development in this DOD/Kelly feud. While I can’t speak for everyone, this rivalry has gone from a raging fire to fizzling flame in a matter of weeks. Let’s hope things make a change for the better in the coming weeks.

WWE House Show Rundown: Results from August 26th-28th, 2011

8

Having trouble keeping up with all of the mainstream women’s wrestling that takes place off TV? Well fear no more! Diva Dirt has got your back with the House Show Roundown! Without any further ado, let’s kick things off!

This week, both Raw & SmackDown were in action, as the Raw side of things brought us the inevitable Kelly Kelly & Eve Torres teaming together to face both Brie & Nikki Bella in tag team action. SmackDown went a different route, first providing AJ against Tamina, but then adding in Kaitlyn & Natalya for their second show to form a tag team bout. What happened this weekend? Check out the results below:

Friday August 26th

WWE Raw in Jackson, Mississippi
Kelly Kelly & Eve Torres def. The Bella Twins
“Kelly and Eve won with Kelly’s finisher on one of the twins. ” (Source)

Saturday August 27th

WWE Raw in Memphis, Tennessee
Divas Champion, Kelly Kelly & Eve Torres def. The Bella Twins

“Longer-than-TV Divas Match. Good action.” (Source)

WWE Smackdown in Cape Girardeau, Missouri
AJ def. Tamina

“AJ won with a clean pin.” (Source)

Sunday August 28th

WWE Raw in North Little Rock, Arkansas
Kelly Kelly & Eve Torres def. The Bella Twins

“Standard Divas match that lasted longer than it does on TV. It really wasn’t THAT bad and the crowd seemed to enjoy K2’s huracanrana and stink face. ” (Source)

WWE Smackdown in Springfield, Missouri
AJ & Kaitlyn def. Natalya & Tamina

“After the match, Tamina and Natalya got into an argument outside of the ring, which escalated to pushing and shoving, Natalya was held back by a referee.” (Source)

Thoughts: Raw had pretty much the same match we’ve been seeing for a while so I don’t have much to say on that, but SmackDown is where I’m interested, particularly the Sunday show. I assumed Natalya & Tamina may be on the same page since commentary continuously puts over Tamina as being similar to the Divas of Doom, but I kind of like it just being Nattie and Beth against everyone else. I’d love to see video of the aftermath to that show. Hopefully it hits the Internet soon. Overall, Raw’s drifting towards the same ol’ as SmackDown seems to be breathing life into something fresh.

Rosita on NBC’s “Children of 9/11” Next Week

16

TNA Knockout Rosita, who lost her father during the 9/11 attacks in New York, will be featured on an NBC special called “Children of 9/11” next Monday.

The special will air at 10pm ET going head-to-head with the last hour of WWE’s Raw on USA.

Rosita, real name Thea Trinidad, lost her father in the attacks when she was just 10 years old. She told The Wrestler magazine that she wanted to become a wrestler after being around her father who was an amateur wrestler.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Rosita’s TNA tryout, which took place in January, was filmed for the special.

September 11th marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Thoughts: I can’t wait to see Rosita’s story on this special. I can’t imagine losing your father at such a young age in such a tragic way. I’m sure the coming two weeks will be very emotional for her. You’re in our thoughts, Rosita.
