Blog: Mia Yim Checks In from Japan, Comments on Upcoming Match with Manami Toyota

8

Wrestler and Diva Dirt contributor, Mia Yim is currently in Japan where she is set to debut for the REINA promotion. Mia will be sending us exclusive blogs and pictures from her trip. Check back for regular updates!

Hello all,

The past few days here in Japan has been pretty relaxing. I was just told I will be wrestling in a tag match. May 28th, it will be me and Aki Kanbayashi vs. Hailey Hatred and Manami Toyota. I am really excited for this match as I will finally be in the ring with one of my closest friends (Hailey) and a legend, in my opinion, in the world (Manami) It will be a great honor and a tough fight for us.

I took a break from training on Sunday and Monday to go and explore Japan. Sunday, Roxie Cotton and I went to Harajuku. Harajuku is one of the fashion capitals in Japan as it still holds unique fashions from Decora to Lolita styles. I wish these fashions would be popular in America. We spent about a few hours in Harajuku, although it is only about half a mile strip of just side shops and foods. We went through most of the stores, looking at all Harajuku has to offer. It was amazing to see the different selections. The snacks was the best part. The Japanese really indulge in their sweets. The sweets are in very small portions but it is soooo delicious in every bite. After a while, it began to rain and we just headed back home to relax for the rest of the day.

Kharma Being Taken Off TV?

218

Say what?! Kharma is being taken off TV for ‘over nine months’, reports the Wrestling Observer.

Last night’s angle on Raw, which saw the monster Diva fall to her knees in tears surrounded by the Raw Divas, is said to have been the blow-off to her storyline for now.

What the F…?

Taryn Terrell Announces Split from Husband Drew McIntyre

39

Former WWE Diva, Taryn Terrell aka Tiffany, has announced that she has separated from her WWE wrestler husband, Drew McIntyre.

Taryn, who married Drew last year, made the announcement on her Twitter page: “With great sadness, I announce the end of my marriage. I wish Drew only happiness and continued success.”

Terrell was suspended by WWE last August after being arrested following an altercation at a hotel involving McIntyre. She was cleared of all charges but was later released by WWE in November.

Raw Redux (May 23rd, 2011): I Remember When, I Remember When Kharma Lost Her Mind

63

After a great showing by Kelly Kelly and The Bella Twins at Over The Limit on Sunday, all the Raw Divas come together for a 8-Diva Tag Match on this week’s Monday Night Raw. Will Kharma be brave enough to make an appearance when there’s 8 Divas in the ring or will she take the night. Watch below as Kelly Kelly, Eve, Gail Kim and Beth Phoenix take on The Bellas, Maryse and Melina:

Out first to the ring is the heel team. I’m not sure how I’m feeling about The Bella Twins’ new cape accessories, but kudos to them for trying something new. However, Melina looked great in her new black on black gear. It looks it could double as an actual outfit outside of the ring. I wonder if this is a permanent change of styles or if she just lost her luggage. Either way, I’m loving it!

Christina Eliminated from Tough Enough

The last of the female contestants has been eliminated as host ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin sent Christina Crawford packing on tonight’s episode of Tough Enough.

Following a lackluster showing cutting promos during ‘charisma week’, Austin decided that she didn’t have the passion for to remain in the competition.

In a surprise double elimination, AJ was also cut.

WWE Over the Limit in Review: Karma (and Kharma) Take the Night Off

Given all the hubbub about Kharma‘s interactions with her fellow Divas in the past few weeks, it became almost a foregone conclusion that she would make her presence known during Brie Bella and Kelly Kelly‘s Divas Championship match. Surely, a PPV setting would be ripe for a big, showstopping demonstration of strength by Kharma. Yet, somehow, Kharma seemed to have better things to do, because the title match went off without any outside interference. Watch the match below and see for yourself:

Nikki Bella attempts to distract Kelly before the match even starts, and Kelly spares a look in her direction, allowing for Brie to gain the upper hand. She sends Kelly into the corner, but her attack is stopped short. Kelly seizes Brie by the neck with her legs, hanging over the ropes and choking her. Kelly eventually stops the attack at the ref’s request, only to sweep Brie’s legs out from under her for good measure. She enters the ring via the turnbuckle, hitting Brie with a flying crossbody. She goes for the pin, but Brie kicks out after the 1-count.

Double Take: Alicia, Rihanna, Rihanna, Alicia?

54

It’s clear that our favorite Fox was inspired by S&M songstress, Rihanna’s red tresses when she changed up her ‘do last year, but last night, I can’t lie: We totally did a double-take when Alicia appeared on screen during WWE’s ‘Be a Star’ commercial at Over the Limit.

Snap Judgement: Alicia Goes Rihanna Red… Who Rocks it Best?

Alicia Fox‘s resemblance to the Bajan popstar is uncanny in this commercial. But that’s not a bad thing at all. Foxy looks amazing with her red locks straightened.

Another two bite the dust… well, soon to see about Christina. That truly sucks to put it plainly for Martin. Seems like he’s got the invite to come back anytime though to a WWE ring and sure, he will be back. Brought back a lot of memories yet again this week seeing the injuries and how much it really hit home. I guess that, looking back, I can be thankful that I was not forced to go home; even though told and suggested by the doctors. I was able to put blind faith in my trainers – mainly Al Snow – to help me work through an injury (and the rest of the cast that was remaining). It’s not easy to push through but the damage was already done to my knee and I could work around it, I would have to learn to work through it if I wanted to be in the WWE for some time. As Booker and Stone Cold stated, the show must go on no matter how you are feeling or what injury occurs.

WWE Over the Limit: Brie Retains

Twin magic fooled new WWE referee, Nunzio, allowing Brie Bella to retain the Divas Championship just moments ago at Over the Limit.

The champion switched with sister Nikki, who hit challenger Kelly Kelly with the X Factor to retain the belt.

PPV Predictions: WWE Over the Limit 2011

Thoughts: A largely uneventful match, I’m afraid. However, I’m shocked that Kelly didn’t win. I totally thought tonight would be her night.

Were you expecting a Kelly win? What did you think of the match? Put your thoughts in the comments.

PPV Predictions: WWE Over the Limit 2011

Brie Bella defends the Divas Title against Kelly Kelly tonight. Who’ll come out on top? The Diva Dirt team weighs in:

April: I am probably among many who are semi-surprised at this match. I’m going to assume it is due to the tag team matches we have seen on Raw in past weeks but you know what they say about assuming. I was also probably one of the few who actually cheered when Brie Bella won the WWE Divas Championship. But, where I want Brie to retain, I am going to have to say that my pick to win is Kelly Kelly. She seems to pop up and surprise us all when we least expect it and honestly, where she may not be the greatest in-ring talent, I could see her carrying the butterfly belt. I am very curious to see how this turns out, considering neither would have been considered an “ideal” competitor around a year ago. The WWE always has a way of throwing one out of left field so it is definitely bound to be interesting. Let’s see if Kelly Kelly can finally capture the strap and prove all the doubters wrong.

Unwrapped (May 22nd, 2011): Gail, Maryse, Rosa, Rosita & Velvet Sky

40

Every week, following WWE.com and TNAWrestling.com’s photoshoot updates, we’ll take a look at the newest Diva and Knockout shoots and give you the opportunity to voice your opinions on them in a feature we lovingly call Unwrapped. Let’s unwrap this week’s eye candy, featuring Gail Kim, Maryse, Rosa Mendes, Rosita and Velvet Sky:

Gail Kim
I could’ve sworn that this photoshoot lost about 3 photos between when I first saw it and now. Strange, but I’ll work with what I’ve got. Gail’s wearing one of those hoodie dresses in a vibrant shade of blue, pairing it with black over-the-knee boots. Most of the shoot consists of her playing with the hood, and so while they make for some pretty photos, they aren’t all that interesting. The most I get out of this photoshoot is how good the blue looks on Gail. I’m pretty sure this dress is from American Apparel, or at the very least least similar to something they sell. It’s nice to see someone wearing it looks as those she’s showered recently and is wearing a bra. It just goes to show you how a few touches can make something look so much more flattering. Still, due to the lack of diversity in her poses, this shoot is missing a spark–but not to the degree that she’s replicating American Apparel’s favorite “dead in the eyes” look. No, Gail looks quite alive here.

Maryse
Maryse looks positively golden here, and not just in a metaphorical sense: from her hair to her dress, she’s as bright as her sparkling jewelry. The sequin-covered dress is short and otherwise simple, but Maryse makes it look natural and decidedly un-racy by pairing it with complimentary shoes and jewelry. They all stick to a similar color scheme, allowing the dress to take center stage. The one thing that threatens to take focus from the dress is Maryse’s hair–the wind machine is whipping it around so much it looks like she may take flight. It’s very vintage supermodel-esque, and I suppose the mini-dress adds to that visual. Her poses play into that theme as well–she looks casually intimidating, if you get what I mean. It’s Maryse being her arrogant self, but not looking as though it takes a lot of effort to look so cool. It’s as if she looks like this 24/7, complete with wind machine. If that’s not the mythos of the classic supermodels, I don’t know what is.

SmackDown Redux (May 20th, 2011): Quality Wrestling From Two Amazing Champions

Today’s SmackDown Redux comes to you with a heavy heart and somber mood. The wrestling world lost an absolute icon today as “Macho Man” Randy Savage tragically lost his life in a car accident. If any of you are anything like me, you grew up watching him steal the show night after night. Savage’s talent, charisma, and personality made him the total package when it came to this sport as far as I’m concerned. His matches with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, and a young, brash Shawn Michaels are instant classics that will live in my heart, the hearts and minds of many others, forever. For me personally, Savage was the last remaining childhood hero that I had. I’ve watched all the others have their lives end far to soon, most notably Owen Hart. I was watching In Your House that night and I’ll never forget what I saw. If we can learn anything from the events of today, and from the past, it’s that life is way to short. It can be taken from you in an instant. You’ve truly got to cherish every moment and live like it could be your last. Rest peacefully, Macho Man.

Impact Write-Up (May 19th, 2011): Keep Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’…

57

First and foremost, I am very sorry this is late. I’ve had a rough couple of days between a good friend’s father passing away and then “Macho Man” Randy Savage, in a very odd and twisted way, both the exact same way. I have just been an emotional ball of mess. Between worrying about my friend and her family and losing such a huge chunk of what made me fall in love with this business. But, I love you guys so I am going to give it my best shot. Bear with me and hopefully this won’t be as lackluster as I feel.

We start this week out in the ring, with the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions, Sarita and Rosita. They’re taunting Christy Hemme and she is just playing along like nobody’s business. Out next is their tag team partner, Madison Rayne and this looks to be a six Knockout tag team match. Oh boy. SHE’S A KILLER QUEEN! Madison comes out, atrocious fence of a crown on top of her head and looks aggravated, as usual. She stops to wave to her kingdom before making her way down to the ring, grinning to bare it. HARDCORE COUNTRY! Their opponents Tara, Miss Tessmacher and the TNA Knockouts Champion, Mickie James pop out next. Literally if you’re Tessmacher. Mickie flashes that gold strap up to the crowd and Tara just looks like a bouncer from the club down the street. This should be a rather fun loving match-up.
