A source tells People:
“This was never really about ending their relationship — it was about calling off a wedding because something didn’t feel right. It was a wedding that was entered into under false pretenses. She was pretending she was okay with not having a kid, he was pretending he absolutely couldn’t and wouldn’t budge on that point. They both got a wake-up call once they canceled the wedding, and they both realized they could fix what was broken. They never stopped talking. Other than the actual wedding weekend, when they took some space, they have been talking. He has poured his heart out to her, and she was more than ready to take him back once she heard what she needed to hear. He’s been saying and doing all the right things.”
US Weekly adds that Bella tried to return the engagement ring but Cena refused to accept it back:
“Nikki tried to return the Tiffany & Co. engagement ring to John, but he refused to accept it. Nikki loves the ring but didn’t want to keep it because she had been the one to call off the wedding. John is hoping they will get back together, which was the main reason why he refused it. Even if they don’t get back together, John wanted Nikki to keep it as a reminder of their love.”
The reported reconciliation comes a week after both parties made the media rounds public speaking about the short-lived break-up, all leading up to season three of Total Bellas, which premiered last night.
