As we handle the fall-out from NXT TakeOver: XXX, Io Shirai is still NXT Women’s Champion as she defeated Dakota Kai. Kai did what she could including help from Raquel Gonzalez but it wasn’t enough. After the killer of a match between these two competitors, Gonzalez would target Shirai.
What happened next was an unlikely save as Rhea Ripley rushed down to save Shirai. Ripley and Gonzalez would be locked in a stare-down which made many fans want to see these two fight.
This leads to tonight’s advertised match. In tag team action Shirai will team up with Ripley to face Kai and Gonzalez.
