Asuka has remained undefeated for more than 229 days. Beloved veteran Mickie James issued a challenge several weeks ago to Asuka saying that she hasn’t faced the likes of her and until she does, her reign means nothing.
Tonight saw Mickie give Asuka the fight of her life.

In a close bout that saw ferocious chain wrestling, Asuka suplexing Mickie on the outside of the ring, back and forth strikes, the Mick Kick, various submissions, and more, Asuka retained the NXT Women’s Championship with a chicken wing submission.

Both were evenly matched throughout but Asuka’s ruthless submission prowess got the best of Mickie. After the match ended Mickie reached out her hand in respect but Asuka gleefully raised the title in her face. Is this setting up a longer feud?
