Serena Deeb returned to action for the first time since February on this week’s Dynamite. Her return showed to be no easy task as she put her NWA World Women’s Championship on the line against Red Velvet, a woman who has been excelling during Deeb’s absence.
Red Velvet has been picking up many wins over the course of this year so far and other than her defeats against Jade Cargill she has been extremely impressive. Deeb being a ring veteran is perhaps her toughest opponent to date. Velvet stirred up a fantastic performance. The match could have really gone either way and it is only a matter of time before Velvet becomes a champion.
Deeb has held the NWA Women’s Title since she defeated Thunder Rosa in October. Although she has been out for a few months due to her knee, she is back and hasn’t missed a beat. She is scheduled to appear at NWA’s next pay-per-view event, When Our Shadows Fall, on June 6.
Who her opponent may be is still up in the air. Kamille won a number one contenders match against Rosa but Rosa isn’t finished with Kamille yet. They are still set to do battle for the number one contendership in a rematch. Rosa was in action on this week’s NWA Powerrr where she defeated Jennacide.
As for what else took place on this week’s Dyanmite, the AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida was booked in a match against Rebel. In a short match, Shida set out to send a message to her opponent at Double or Nothing, Dr. Britt Baker who was at ringside.
Shida quickly put on a glove in order to execute Baker’s Lock Jaw submission on Rebel. This caused Baker to get up on the apron with the AEW World Women’s Title in her hand. Rebel smacked the champion with the crutch while the referee was preoccupied with Baker. After a suplex, Rebel got a near fall.
The match came to its conclusion after Shida locked in a submission for Rebel to tap out. Baker then immediately pounced on the champion and delivered a curb stomp to her on top of the women’s belt.
