SHINE Nova title match set for EVOLVE 121

Aja Perera was successful in defending her title last month against Kiera Hogan at SHINE 56. After she won the match, her business partner Ayla Fox announced Perera’s next title defense. Perera is set to defend her SHINE Nova Championship in a tag team match against rivals the Cutie Pie Club at SHINE 57. Prior to this defense, she will have to get through Hell’s Favorite Harlot, Priscilla Kelly.

SHINE Wrestling’s Twitter broke the news today. Perera will face Kelly at EVOLVE 121 on Feb 15 at The Kroc Center in Atlanta. This will be their first one-on-one match at EVOLVE, though they have locked up before at SHINE 47. Perera was a challenger to Kelly who was the SHINE Nova Championship at that time as the inaugural champion.

Kelly won the title after a 16-woman tournament for the first-ever Nova Championship in the summer of 2017. The tournament took place over two consecutive nights. She defeated Veda Scott in the first round. After the first round, she went on to defeat three more opponents on the second night to win the title. Her final opponent was Candy Cartwright, who later claimed the title from Kelly.

Kelly has generated much controversy and discussion with her provocative in-ring performance. Some of her spots have included the use of a bloody tampon, as well as her throwing up on her opponent.

Perera talked recently to Diva Dirt’s Nick Wilkinson on her ambitions for 2019 and moving forward. She commented on working for the SHIMMER promotion this year. She also would love to be a part of WWE’s Mae Young Classic (MYC) if it were to be picked up for a third season. Kelly participated in last year’s MYC.

Perera took to Twitter to express her excitement about the upcoming match.

The last time Perera faced Kelly, she was unable to defeat her for the very same title she is defending now. Kelly has proven she is willing to do whatever it takes to win a match. Can Perera retain the title at EVOLVE 121 and carry it into her defense against the Cutie Pie Club at SHINE 57?

You can stream this event live on Feb. 15 on WWN. Check back with Diva Dirt on future title results of SHINE Wrestling.
