Smackdown Discussion Post: August 14th, 2018

Here we are! We have arrived to the last SmackDown Live! before SummerSlam this Sunday. There are two matches featuring the women from the SmackDown brand.

The first will be on the Kickoff show in that will see Lana and Rusev taking on Zelina Vega and Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas. They have been feuding for the past several weeks, which has erupted in Aiden English causing Rusev and Lana to lose their respective matches. Lana and Vega have been putting on good one on one matches the past couple weeks that have showcased Lana’s improvement in the ring, and Vega being the veteran. With Vega being 2-0, it will be interesting to see if Lana can finally pick up a win, or if English may be the downfall of the married couple yet again.

As far as the second match for the biggest event of the summer, Smackdown Women’s Champion, Carmella, has her work cut out for her. She is facing off against two best friends who are hungry for gold. Both being former champions, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch will get their chance to regain the top spot on the SmackDown Women roster. The main thing to look at is whether Carmella will be able to drive a wedge between the best friends?

Lynch has been showing a lot of concern that she will have to face off against her best friend in a match that she was originally certain that she was going to win. The triple threat competitors will come face to face to face tonight.

Check out WWE’s official preview for tonight:

The SmackDown Women’s Championship Match at SummerSlam is sure to be a battle for the ages, with Carmella, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch looking to walk out of The Biggest Event of the Summer with championship gold.

Tensions will certainly be running high when all three women come face to face on SmackDown LIVE. The friendship between The Queen and The Irish Lass Kicker has certainly been put to the test in recent weeks; will The Princess of Staten Island look to turn the two buds against one another before SummerSlam?

WWE.com also teases SmackDown General Manager Paige a promise to her former Absolution team members Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose:

Frustrated with how she and Sonya Deville have been treated lately, Mandy Rose lashed out at her former Absolution teammate and current SmackDown LIVE General Manager Paige on Twitter this past weekend, saying that Paige favors her former teammates in PCB, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

Paige responded by saying that Flair and Lynch earned their chances but that she would give Rose & Deville opportunities of their own tonight.
