TakeOver: New Orleans Results: Shayna wins the title

After losing at TakeOver: Philadelphia, Shayna Baszler continued to target Ember Moon. Shayna called Ember’s integrity and abilities as a champion into question, leading to numerous brawls between the two competitors.

Tonight, Ember and Shayna brought their feud to New Orleans to determine who was the better fighter out of the two.

Ember and Shayna’s battle would go back and fourth. In addition to relying on submission moves, Shayna also relied on strikes to try and wear Ember down. Not to be outdone, Ember Moon would attempt to match Baszler’s strikes with hard kicks of her own. At one point, Ember even stomped on Shayna’s arm, similar to the way Shayna had stomped on Ember’s arm at TakeOver: Philadelphia.

Once Ember targeted Shayna’s arm, Shayna would attempt to get some distance from Moon. Ember would not let up however, hitting Shayna with an Eclipse as Shayna was trying to get feeling back into her arm.

Despite Ember’s onslaught, Baslzer would continue to kick out. The end of the match saw Baszler lock in her signature choke hold on Moon. Ember would try her hardest to break the hold by getting to the ropes and attacking Shayna’s arm. Eventually though, the pain from Baszler’s submission caused Ember Moon to pass out, giving Shayna the win and her first reign as NXT Women’s Champion.

Following her win, Baszler would go to ringside and celebrate with fellow Horsewomen Ronda Rousey and Jessamyn Duke. In the meantime, Ember tried to regain consciousness in the ring.
