Today in History: Mickie James vs. Sarita in a Taped Fists Match

On this day in history:

February 3rd, 2011 | Mickie James and Sarita wrapped up their hands in preparation for a unique Knockouts bout: a Taped Fists match. Mickie was confident about her chances, citing her experience with bar fights. Plenty of punches were traded during the match, and soon Mickie’s left hand became a weak point. Sarita focused on it, looking to take her down that way, but that couldn’t stop Mickie: a sharp right hook to the side of Sarita’s head knocked her out cold. The referee called a KO, and just like that, Mickie won the match without even covering her opponent. She soon received a KO of her own, though, when Madison Rayne snuck into the ring and hit her with a loaded glove.
