On this day in history:

May 24th, 2009 | Most people would want to avoid a physical confrontation with Awesome Kong, so you almost couldn’t blame Angelina Love for doing her best to keep away from her. She put her friends in the path of destruction until there was no one left to defend her, and she had no choice but to put her Knockouts Title on the line against Kong at 2009’s Sacrifice. For most of the match Angelina was treated like a rag doll, but a combination of quick thinking and some well-applied mystery spray allowed Angelina to escape with her title in tow. However, Kong recovered quickly enough to hit Angelina with not one, but two Implant Busters before leaving.

Elsewhere that night, the newly-heel Daffney sought revenge against Taylor Wilde in the first ever Knockouts Monster’s Ball match. The match called for both competitors to be isolated in rooms without food or water for 24 hours, then let loose in a No DQ bout. Daffney had a big advantage, boasting a propensity for hardcore wrestling and having both Abyss and Dr. Stevie in her corner. Taylor would overcome the odds, winning the match and setting the stage for Abyss to turn on Stevie and Daffney, making for an all-around happy ending.
